The silence in the penthouse was deafening. The air felt thick, charged with an unseen storm that was about to explode. Aiden’s hands clenched into fists, his knuckles white as he stared at the paused video on the screen.
Alina was still frozen, her breath coming in short gasps. That footage—it was her. Asleep. Vulnerable. Filmed from inside Aiden’s penthouse.
A cold shiver ran down her spine.
Aiden exhaled sharply and grabbed a whiskey glass from the table—only to shatter it against the wall.
Ava flinched. “Oookay. That was dramatic.”
Ethan shot her a look. “Not now, Ava.”
Ava ignored him and turned to Alina. "Babe, I don’t want to freak you out, but this is beyond obsession."
Alina’s fingers trembled as she hugged herself. “He… he was here. In my room.”
Aiden’s face was pure murder. He stormed towards the door.
“Aiden!” Alina called after him, but he didn’t stop.
She ran after him, barely registering Ava and Ethan following behind. The moment she reached the hallway, she saw Aiden pulling a gun from his holster.
Her heart stopped.
“Aiden, NO!” she grabbed his arm, trying to stop him.
His blue eyes burned like ice. "He was inside my penthouse, Alina. He watched you sleep. And you want me to do nothing?"
Her breath hitched. "No! I just—violence won’t solve this—"
Aiden let out a humorless chuckle. “Violence is the only language men like Kai understand.”
And with that, he yanked open the door—
Only to find Kai standing right outside.
Ava let out a high-pitched scream. Ethan immediately reached for his weapon.
But Kai?
He just smiled.
“Going somewhere, Knight?” he asked lazily, stepping inside like he owned the place.
Alina’s stomach twisted. How was he here again?
Aiden didn’t hesitate. He grabbed Kai by the throat and slammed him against the wall.
Ava gasped. "Oh my god, I love violence!"
Ethan sighed. "Jesus, Ava—"
Kai didn’t even struggle. He just smirked. “Tsk. So aggressive.”
Aiden’s jaw clenched. “Give me one reason not to break your neck right now.”
Kai’s smirk widened. “Because then you’ll never find out what I really know about her.”
Alina’s blood ran cold.
Aiden’s grip tightened. “What the hell are you talking about?”
Kai chuckled. “Oh, sweetheart,” he said, looking at Alina. “Didn’t you ever wonder why I chose you?”
Alina’s breath caught.
Aiden froze.
The room went deathly silent.
Then, Kai leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Because you were always meant to be mine."
"Going somewhere, Knight?" Kai smirked.
Aiden’s gun was loaded. So was his rage.
“You have no idea what I know about her.”
Alina froze. Why did Kai’s words feel like a warning?
Aiden slammed him against the wall. “Talk. Now.”
Kai chuckled. “You think you’re the only one protecting her?”
Alina’s heart pounded—what was Kai hiding?
"Because you were always meant to be mine."
