Grandma's Will?
By the time Jungkook finished the laundry, the sun hung high, marking noon. His fingers were raw and bleeding from hours of scrubbing, knuckles cracked and stinging with every movement. But he couldn't afford resting.
His stomach ached with hunger, a hollow pain he was used to ignoring. Breakfast had been a stale piece of bread—thrown at him by a sneering servant who made sure it landed on the dusty floor. Jungkook hadn’t dared complain, instead mumbling a timid thank you before swallowing the dry crumbs quickly, mindful not to be seen.
He glanced at the neat rows of clothes fluttering on the line, exhaustion dragging at his limbs. For a moment, a small, tired smile tugged at his lips—until the door swung open with a bang, and Maid’s voice cut through the silence like a knife.
Arrogant Maid
“Fag!” she snapped, eyes narrowed with disdain. “Standing around and grinning like an idiot? Must be nice. Didn’t know filth like you got breaks.”
Jungkook flinched, smile vanishing instantly. His heart pounded painfully, and he quickly looked down, fingers twisting into the hem of his worn-out sleeves.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
"I-I’m sorry” he mumbled, voice small and trembling. “I was just—”
Arrogant Maid
“Just what?”
Maida sneered, stepping forward. Her hand shot out, nails digging into his shoulder with bruising force.
Arrogant Maid
“You think anyone cares for your excuses? Useless trash.”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“N-no” he Whispered, his breath hitching
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“I’ll get back to work. I-I didn’t mean to—”
Arrogant Maid
“You never mean to” * rolls her eyes *
She spat, her hand flashing out before he could react. The slap landed hard, whipping his head to the side with a sharp crack that left his cheek burning.
Arrogant Maid
“Get moving before I really lose my patience, you disgusting little mistake.”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
His cheek throbbed painfully, eyes stinging with unshed tears, but he forced himself to nod, biting down on his trembling lip.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“Yes, Ma’am,” he whispered, voice barely audible.
The pain was easier to deal with when he focused on the next task, the next step—on keeping his hands busy and his mouth shut. His thoughts were muddled, heavy with exhaustion and a dull ache that never quite left his chest.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
[ Maybe if he worked faster, if he did better, they wouldn’t look at him with so much hate. Maybe, if he tried harder— ]
The main house loomed before him, pristine and cold. Jungkook slipped in through the back door, careful to keep his head down, steps light and quiet. He moved quickly, scrubbing dishes and scouring countertops, hands stinging from the harsh detergent.
He was drying the last dish when the sound of heels clicking against the tiles sent ice down his spine. Jungkook froze, heart hammering painfully as he glanced up to find his mother standing in the doorway, lips twisted with disdain.
Jeon Seul/Mrs.jeon
“Why are you still here?” she snapped, arms crossing elegantly.
Jeon Seul/Mrs.jeon
“Shouldn’t you be done by now?”
wrinkled her nose, gaze skimming over jungkook like one would do at a stain.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“I- just d-done madam Jeon”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
* stammered while quickly placing the dish down and bowing his head * “I’ll—I’ll hurry.”
Jeon Seul/Mrs.jeon
“Excuses?” she scoffed, eyes cold. “You’re nothing but a burden. Honestly, I don’t even know why we keep you around. It would’ve been better if you never existed.”
The words stung, sharp and familiar.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook bit down on his trembling lip, throat tight. His hands shook as he grabbed the mop, knuckles white with how tightly he gripped the handle.
“I-I’ll clean faster,” he mumbled, voice cracking.
Jeon Seul/Mrs.jeon
“Do better,” she snapped, turning on her heel without another glance. “Or I’ll make sure you don’t get food for a week bitch.”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook’s eyes stung, but he blinked rapidly, forcing the tears back. Crying wouldn’t change anything. He knows but still a few fell without his will.
He was halfway through mopping the floors, limbs heavy with fatigue, when footsteps echoed down the hall. Jeongguk strolled in, shirt crisp and eyes glinting with something cruel. His smile was pretty, but it didn’t reach his eyes.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“Oh,” Jeongguk drawled, stopping just short of the wet tiles.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“Isn’t it really pathetic how hard you try?”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook’s breath caught, fingers clenching the mop tighter. Not wanting to reply.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
Jeongguk clicked his tongue, smirk widening. “attitude hah?” he scoffed as he gripped back of jungkook's nape pushing him forward towards himself. his grip tightening in a cruel way.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
"You do realize no one wants you here, right? Maybe if you weren’t so… abnormal, they’d have gotten rid of you already.”
Pushes him away as of swatting a fly.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook forced himself to swallow back the lump in his throat. He kept his gaze fixed on the floor, breaths shallow and quick. He dare not do anything else.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“I’m sorry” he whispered, eyes shut tight. His voice low.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“Of course you are,” Jeongguk sneered. “you're such a 'sorry' excuse of a human”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“I—” Jungkook’s voice broke, words catching painfully. “I not just wa-nt to—”
???
“To what?” another voice echoed through the hallway
Jeon Ji-eun/elder sister of twins
Ji Eun scoffed. “Be part of this family?” She laughed, cold and sharp. “Keep dreaming, freak. You’re lucky we haven’t thrown you out yet.”
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
Jeongguk chuckled, leaning back against the wall with a smirk. “He’s like a stray,” he said airily. “Pathetic, isn’t it?”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
A heavy hand landed on his shoulder suddenly, fingers digging in painfully, and Jungkook’s eyes widened with a muffled gasp.
His father’s voice was low and cold, disgust practically dripping from each word.
Jeon Junseo/ Mr. Jeon
“Did I say you could stop working, you piece of sh_t?” he growled. “Or are you so useless you can’t even follow orders properly? What now? brain disability paired with ear disability?”
The three of them; jeongguk, ji-eun and his 'father' shared the same look. As if they couldn't just wait to throw him out into streets to watch him die a death worse than that of a beggar.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
* terrified *
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
he couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe past the suffocating weight pressing down on his chest.
“n-no..no-no I'll do faster” he mumbled, voice a frail whisper.
His father scoffed, shoving him forward with enough force that he nearly fell to his knees.
Jeon Junseo/ Mr. Jeon
“Waste of space,” he spat. “Get out of our sight.”
They left with mocking laughs, footsteps fading down the hall, leaving Jungkook alone in the cold silence. The mop slipped from his grasp, clattering against the tiles, but he couldn’t find the strength to pick it up, knees buckling as he sank to the floor.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
'You’re nothing. A burden. A curse.' The words rang cruelly in his mind, echoing until they were all he could hear.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Maybe they’d look at him with something other than hatred. Maybe, one day, they’d let him stay.Maybe one day they'll realise'
But the thought was laughable, even to him. Jungkook squeezed his eyes shut, breath hitching, fingers curling tighter into his sleeves.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“I’m not- n-not disabled, not a fag..I am j-jungkook” he choked out, voice a fractured whisper, but the only answer was silence.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
And he continued scrubbing the floors, knuckles raw and vision blurred, until the sun dipped below the horizon and the hallways lay in shadow.
Days blurred into each other, marked by endless chores and muffled cries that echoed within the cold walls of the servant quarters. Jungkook's world was a constant whirl of scrubbing, washing, and hurried whispers of apologies that went unheard. His fingers stayed red and raw, his back ached from bending for hours, and his eyes stung with exhaustion that never faded.
His meals were stale scraps, if any at all, eaten hastily and in secret. Rest was brief, haunted by nightmares that left him gasping awake, a hand clutched over his mouth to muffle the sobs. The bruises never got a chance to fade, each layer covered by new ones.
But even worse than the pain was the loneliness—the suffocating isolation of being unseen, unloved, unwanted. Every smile he tried to muster died before it could bloom, smothered by harsh words and mocking sneers.
It was morning when the door was thrown open with a bang, jarring Jungkook awake. He scrambled up, heart pounding, hands trembling as he fumbled to stand.
The maids stormed in, eyes glinting with disdain.
???
"Get up, freak," one of them sneered, grabbing his arm with bruising force. "Jeongguk wants you in the living room. Now."
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“I-I—” His voice cracked, but he bit down on his lip, nodding quickly. “Y-Yes, I—”
His words broke into a startled gasp as they dragged him out roughly, feet stumbling over the uneven floor. He barely managed to keep up, vision swimming with exhaustion. By the time they reached the main house, his legs were trembling, breath coming in quick, panicked bursts.
They didn’t slow down. The moment they crossed the threshold, one of the maids yanked him forward and threw him to the floor, the hard marble slamming into his knees with a sickening thud. Pain shot up his legs, white-hot and dizzying, but Jungkook barely had time to catch his breath before a sharp kick landed on his side, sending him sprawling with a choked cry.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
"Well, look who finally decided to show up," Jeongguk's voice drawled, cold and taunting. He leaned back against the couch, a glass of wine in hand, eyes glinting with cruel amusement.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
"Did you crawl here, or are you just that slow, you useless waste of space?"
Jungkook's head spun, cheek pressed against the cold marble as he tried to push himself up. His limbs trembled violently, eyes already glistening with unshed tears.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“I-I’m sorry,” he gasped, voice barely more than a whisper. “I-I’ll not repeat next time, I—”
A harsh slap cut him off, sharp and brutal. His head snapped to the side, vision blurring with the force of it. The sting radiated down to his jaw, hot and unrelenting.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“I didn’t ask for your excuses,” Jeongguk sneered, grabbing a fistful of his hair and yanking him upright. “God, you’re pathetic. Can’t even kneel properly. Are you that desperate for attention, you disgusting little pest?”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook bit down on his trembling lip, the metallic taste of blood seeping onto his tongue. His chest constricted painfully, breaths shaky and shallow.
“I-I’m sorry,” he choked, curling in on himself instinctively. “Please, I didn’t mean—”
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“Shut up,” Jeongguk snapped, shoving him back down harshly. “Do you know what people say when they see you? That the Jeons must’ve been cursed to have a freak like you in the family.”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook’s breath hitched, eyes stinging. The words sliced deeper than any slap, ripping through the fragile walls he had built around himself. His hands shook, fingers curling desperately into the hem of his sleeves.
“B-But I—”
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“But nothing,” Jeongguk spat, eyes narrowing. “The only reason you’re still alive is because we haven’t figured out how to get rid of you without causing a scandal. Don’t get any ideas, you miserable excuse for a human.”
The rest of the family watched with cold eyes, no one bothering to intervene. His mother scoffed, sipping her tea with disdain. His father looked away, as if the very sight of him was too repulsive to bear.
Jeon Ji-eun/elder sister of twins
“Can’t you even look presentable?” Ji-eun sneered, eyeing Jungkook’s tattered clothes with a look of disgust. “Or is being filthy just part of who you are?”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook’s shoulders hunched instinctively, eyes widening
“I-I don't—”
Another slap cut him off, the force of it making his ears ring.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“Just shut up,” Jeongguk hissed, voice low and dangerous. “You think anyone wants to hear your pathetic voice? You should be grateful we even let you breathe our air.”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook’s vision blurred, the room spinning nauseatingly. His lips trembled, words caught painfully in his throat.
“I-I… I’m s-sorry…”
For what? Even he doesn't know.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“Of course, you are,” Jeongguk sneered. “You’re always sorry. Always so desperate to please. It’s pathetic.”
? ? ?
A harsh kick to his side sent him crumpling, breath punched out of his lungs with a strangled gasp. The maids snickered cruelly, eyes glinting with contempt.
“Maybe if you crawl properly, Jeongguk might forgive you,” one of them mocked, lips curling. “Isn’t that what you’re best at, freak?”
Tears slipped down Jungkook’s cheeks before he could stop them, shame flooding his senses. He tried to stifle the sobs, tried to muffle the pathetic noises that slipped past his lips, but it only seemed to amuse them more.
Just then, the heavy doors swung open, and a flurry of footsteps filled the hall. A team of men in dark suits rushed in, their expressions tense and uncertain. The family turned, irritation flaring at the interruption.
Jeon Junseo/ Mr. Jeon
“What’s the meaning of this?” Mr. Jeon snapped, eyes narrowing.
lawyer
The lead lawyer hesitated, clearing his throat nervously. “Sir, we… We found Mrs. Jeon’s will. The one she left five years ago.”
lawyer
The lawyer fumbled with a folder, hands trembling as he flipped through the pages. His eyes darted to Jungkook briefly—hesitating, almost guilty—before he spoke.
lawyer
“It… It states that an engagement was arranged between Jungkook and the youngest Kim grandson… Kim Taehyung.”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
The words fell like stones, shattering the silence. Jungkook’s breath caught, eyes widening in shock. His heart pounded wildly, disbelief and confusion tangling painfully in his chest.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“What?” Jeongguk’s voice was a snarl, fury darkening his eyes. “That’s ridiculous! That freak—”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Another brutal slap from jeongguk silenced Jungkook’s gasp.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“You don’t deserve him,” Jeongguk snarled. “You’re nothing but a curse! You think anyone would ever want you?”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“B-But… I-I didn’t—” he stammered, voice cracking. “I-I never… meant to—”
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“Shut up!”
Jeongguk’s foot connected with his side viciously, the impact stealing the air from his lungs in a broken gasp.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“You think playing innocent will change anything? You think you’re wanted now, just because of some stupid will?”
Jeon Junseo/ Mr. Jeon
His father’s eyes were cold, disdain curling his lip. “That damned old woman,” he muttered, fists clenched. “Even in death, she finds a way to humiliate us.”
Jeon Seul/Mrs.jeon
Mrs. Jeon scoffed, fingers tapping irritably against her glass. “That woman was always soft-hearted and foolish. As if the Kims would actually go through with this farce,” she sneered, gaze flicking to Jungkook with open revulsion. “I doubt they’ll even accept once they see who they’re supposed to marry.”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook’s heart pounded painfully, confusion and dread swirling in his chest. “M-Marry?” he whispered, voice tiny and broken. “B-But I—I don’t—”
Jeon Ji-eun/elder sister of twins
“Of course, you don’t,” Ji-eun scoffed, arms crossed. “It’s not like you have a choice, anyway. You should be grateful someone’s willing to take you off our hands.”
Jeongguk’s fist crashed into Jungkook’s face suddenly, making him cry out in shock and pain. His vision went white, ears ringing with the force of it. Blood dripped slowly from his split lip, warm and metallic on his tongue.
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“You’ll ruin everything,” Jeongguk growled, grabbing him by the collar and yanking him up roughly. “You think Taehyung will ever love someone like you? He’ll despise you! He’ll throw you away the second he sees your pathetic face!”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook’s eyes stung, vision blurring with tears he tried desperately to blink back. “I-I… I’m sorry,” he choked, voice barely more than a whisper. “I-I didn’t mean to… I won’t… I’ll be good, I promise—”
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
“You can’t even do that right,” Jeongguk spat, shoving him back down with enough force to slam his knees against the marble, raw and aching. “You’re a curse. You always have been. You should’ve died with her—maybe then we wouldn’t have to deal with your disgusting existence.”
lawyer
The lawyers shifted nervously, eyes darting between the scene unfolding and the enraged faces of the Jeons.
“T-The will,” one of them stammered hesitantly. “If it isn’t honored… both families will suffer severe financial and political losses. The clauses are… ironclad. Breaking it would ruin the Jeon reputation entirely.”
Jeon Junseo/ Mr. Jeon
Mr. Jeon’s jaw clenched, eyes cold and calculating. “So we’re supposed to hand that thing over to the Kims and hope they don’t back out?” he snarled, gaze flicking to Jungkook with open contempt.
Jeon Ji-eun/elder sister of twins
“Not… necessarily,” Ji-eun mused, eyes narrowing thoughtfully. Gesturing maids to take jungkook away.
Jeon Ji-eun/elder sister of twins
“If we propose a contract marriage instead… something temporary. Long enough to save face, at least.”
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
Jeongguk’s hands trembled with rage, lips curling back in a snarl. “You can’t be serious!” he snapped. “You can’t let him—let that freak—”
Jeon Junseo/ Mr. Jeon
“Watch your tone,” Mr. Jeon snapped, voice icy. “We’ll handle this our way. Your feelings are irrelevant right now.”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook barely heard them, ears ringing and limbs numb with shock. His heart fluttered painfully in his chest, a fragile, foolish spark of hope igniting despite everything.
“Married,” he thought, breath hitching. “To… to Taehyung?”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
His fingers trembled, clutching the fabric of his sleeves tightly, eyes wide and dazed. “M-Maybe… maybe he won’t hate me?” he thought desperately, the idea almost too bright to bear. “Maybe… maybe he’ll be kind. Maybe… someone will finally…”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
A soft, shaky smile touched his bruised lips, eyes glistening with a naive hope that bordered on heartbreaking.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“Maybe things will get better now?” he whispered, voice quivering. “Maybe… he’ll love me?”
But behind his back, the Jeons exchanged cold, calculated glances, voices low and scheming.
Jeon Junseo/ Mr. Jeon
“We’ll send him to the Kims,” Mr. Jeon muttered, eyes dark with disdain. “If they accept, good. If not, we’ll find a way to use this to our advantage. Either way, that worthless pest is out of our way for good.”
Jeon Ji-eun/elder sister of twins
Ji-eun smirked, lips curling with cruel amusement. “Good riddance,” she drawled. “It’s about time we got rid of that eyesore.”
Jeon Jeongguk/Blessed twin
Jeongguk’s eyes narrowed, hands clenching into fists as he glared down at Jungkook’s trembling form with pure hatred.
“You think you’ve won?” he hissed, voice venomous. “Don’t get your hopes up, you miserable little worm. Taehyung will throw you away like the trash you are.”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
Jungkook flinched, shoulders curling in defensively. But the small, fragile spark of hope refused to die, no matter how cruel the words were—no matter how much they stung.
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
“Maybe,” he thought weakly, heart aching with the force of it. “Maybe… I’ll finally be happy.”
Jeon Jungkook/Cursed twin
But even as he dared to dream, shadows loomed at the edges—dark and merciless, waiting to consume him whole.
