Memories never fades

Hi guys, another episode for today 😀

.
Y/n let out a frustrated sigh as she walked out of HQ, desperate for fresh air. She didn’t bother looking back—she knew Levi was still inside, probably finding something else to scold them for.
Y/n
Y/n
"Tch. That damn clean freak… I swear he enjoys making our lives miserable."
Her boots crunched against the dirt path as she made her way toward the open fields outside the base. The cool breeze brushed against her skin, and for a moment, the weight on her shoulders felt lighter.
She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply.
Y/n
Y/n
"At least out here, I can breathe."
She wasn’t the type to socialize much—not because she disliked people, but because being alone was easier. Less attachments, less heartbreak, less disappointments.
Y/n kept walking until she spotted a huge tree standing tall in the middle of the field. It was one of those trees that looked ancient, strong, unshaken by time or storms.
Y/n
Y/n
*A small smirk tugged at her lips.* "Looks like a perfect spot."
With practiced ease, she climbed up the tree, her fingers gripping onto the rough bark. Within moments, she reached a sturdy branch high above the ground and settled onto it.
As soon as she looked out at the view, her breath hitched.
The sky stretched out in endless blue, the grass below looked like waves moving with the wind, and in the far distance, the sun was beginning to set, bathing everything in gold and orange.
Y/n
Y/n
*Y/n felt something inside her chest tighten.* "Beautiful..."
She leaned against the trunk, resting her head against it, and for the first time in a long time, she allowed herself to smile.
Not the forced, polite smile she sometimes gave when people talked to her.
Not the sarcastic smirk she used when teasing someone.
A real smile. One that no one would see.
Because deep down, Y/n felt like she didn’t deserve to show happiness.
...
..
.
As she sat there, her mind drifted to the past.
She remembered the first time she truly understood loss.
She was only five when the Titans attacked.
The screams. The blood. The fear.
Her parents had tried to protect her. They had told her to run, but she couldn’t move. She had clutched her father’s sleeve, her tiny hands shaking as she cried, begging him not to leave her.
And then… nothing.
She never even got to say goodbye.
The next thing she knew, she was an orphan, left to survive on her own.
At ten years old, while other kids played and laughed, Y/n was already working just to keep herself alive.
No warm home. No family. Just herself.
She had learned how to fight, steal, and survive. She had learned that no one was coming to save her.
She had built walls—thick, unbreakable walls—to keep everyone out.
Y/n
Y/n
"Because if you don’t get attached, you don’t get hurt."
But sometimes… just sometimes…
She wondered what it would’ve been like to have someone who stayed.
Someone who saw her not as a soldier, not as an orphan, not as another body in this war…
Just as Y/n.
She shook her head, snapping herself out of those thoughts.
Y/n
Y/n
"Tch. This is stupid." *She muttered.*
She hated feeling sentimental. It didn’t suit her.
Yet, she couldn’t deny that this moment—this one fleeting moment of peace—was nice.
No orders.
No shouting.
No damn Levi barking at her to clean.
Just the wind, the sky, and her own thoughts.
Y/n leaned back against the tree with a small smirk.
Y/n
Y/n
"Maybe I should just live here. Become a tree person. That way, I won’t have to deal with cleaning duty ever again."
But as much as she wanted to stay in this quiet place forever, she knew it wouldn’t last.
Later, she’d have to go back.
Back to the squad.
Back to Levi.
Back to war.
But for now…
She let herself enjoy the silence. For just a little longer…
