Amber walked into the grand dining hall, her steps light but defiant.

Christian sat at the head of the table, dressed in all black, his phone in one hand, a cup of coffee in the other.

He looked… untouchable. Effortlessly in control.

His gaze flickered to her, scanning her oversized sweater and leggings.

"You’re late."

"I didn’t realize I was on a schedule."

Christian’s lips curved slightly—a ghost of a smirk.

"You are now."

Amber huffed and sat across from him.

A maid poured her tea, and she immediately reached for the sugar.

As she stirred, she felt Christian’s eyes on her.

*Without looking up* "Something interesting about my tea?"

Christrian Eleanor

*Leaning back* "No. Just wondering when you’ll try to run."

Her fingers tightened around the cup.

"What makes you think I will?"

Christrian Eleanor

*Calmly* "Because I would. If I were you."

She blinked.

His honesty caught her off guard. He wasn’t mocking her, wasn’t trying to break her down—he was simply stating a fact.

"And what will you do when I try?"

Christian’s gaze darkened, his fingers tapping lightly against his coffee cup.

Christrian Eleanor

"Stop you."

His voice was steady. Absolute.

Something about the way he said it made her stomach tighten. Not from fear. But from something else.

Something dangerous.
