first words

The room was steeped in quiet anticipation as Taehyung leaned over the typewriter, Jungkook's last letter still fresh in his mind. The name " Jungkook " felt like a secret whispered in the dark. It was real. He was real. Sliding a fresh sheet of paper into the typewriter, Taehyung hesitated before typing.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
“ Jungkook. That's your name.?”
He paused, staring at the words. His fingers hovered over the keys, unsure of what to say next.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
“ I wasn't sure this was real before. But now? Now I'm scared it is. How is this happening? Who are you?"
When the reply arrived moments later, Taehyung's hands trembled as he pulled the paper free.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"You said my name," Jungkook's response began. "I don't even know where to start. I've been trying to convince myself this is a dream, but it's not, is it? You can really... see this? Read this?"
Taehyung's pulse quickened as he typed back, the questions tumbling out faster than he could think.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"Yes, I can. And you can see mine. But... how? How is this possible? This doesn't make sense. I've never heard of anything like this before."
The reply came quickly, Jungkook's words betraying a mix of fear and wonder.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"Neither have I. I didn't even know typewriters could do this. I mean, they can't, right? This isn't normal. It's not supposed to happen."
When Jungkook's reply came, the tone shifted slightly, a hint of amusement cutting through the uncertainty.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
“ It's Amazing. Or completely insane. Are we... even in the same place? Where are you right now?"
Taehyung frowned, the question catching him off guard.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"I'm in Seoul. Where else would I be? What about you?"
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
" oh I'm in Seoul, too," Jungkook replied.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
" well Nice to meet you. I work at my dad's shop it's nothing fancy, just a family business. What about you? What do you do?"
Taehyung grinned as he read the reply.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"Nice to meet you too, Jungkook. Me? I don't do anything exciting-I work part-time at a café. I'm more into art and music, though. What about you? Any hobbies?"
Their letters became a rhythm, each one peeling back another layer.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"Hobbies? I love sketching. It's something I've done since I was a kid. What kind of art do you like?"
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"Oh, that's cool! I love painting-especially abstract stuff. And music-I'm obsessed with it. What kind of music do you listen to?"
Their conversation started feeling natural, like they'd known each other for longer than just a few letters.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"So, what's your favorite playlist right now?" Taehyung asked.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"Playlist? What's that?"
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"You know... like a collection of songs? Everyone has one these days."
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"Everyone? I've never heard of it. What kind of thing is that?"
Taehyung frowned, staring at the reply. How could Jungkook not know what a playlist was? It felt impossible.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"Wait... What do you mean you've never heard of it? It's 2025! Everyone knows about playlists."
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"2025? Are you messing with me? It's 1975."
Taehyung blinked at the paper in disbelief.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"1975? That's a joke, right?" he typed back.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"No... I'm serious. Why would I joke about that?"
Taehyung's stomach flipped. He stared at the words, willing them to make sense, but they refused to.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"1975? That's fifty years ago!"
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"I know," Jungkook replied. "But I'm serious. It is 1975. What's going on here? Are you really not messing with me?"
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"No, I'm not!" Taehyung typed back quickly, his hands shaking. "You're the one who's messing with me! How can you possibly be in 1975? That's absurd!"
For a moment, neither of them wrote. The silence felt heavy, as if the air itself were holding its breath.
When Jungkook finally responded, his words carried a tentative curiosity.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
,"Taehyung... this doesn't make sense. But I don't think we're lying to each other. What if-what if this is some kind of magic?"
Taehyung blinked, the idea sounding ridiculous and yet oddly plausible.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"Magic? You mean like in stories? That's not real."
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"Neither is a typewriter that sends letters across time," Jungkook shot back.
Taehyung couldn't help it-he laughed. A short, nervous laugh that bubbled out before he could stop it.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"Fair point," "But still. Magic? That's a lot to believe."
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"More believable than this just being a weird coincidence," Jungkook countered
They paused, each of them grappling with the impossibility of their situation. Finally, Taehyung broke the silence with a lighter tone.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"Well, if this is magic, I guess it picked the right person to talk to. You seem... nice."
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"You're not so bad yourself," Jungkook replied, and for the first time, the fear in his words softened.
The conversation drifted into more ordinary topics, their nerves settling as they talked about their lives. Taehyung mentioned his favorite café in Seoul, and Jungkook described the shop he worked at with his father.
But then came the moment that threw them both off balance again.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"So, what's your favorite song right now?" Taehyung asked.
Jungkook hesitated before replying.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"Uh... I guess Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees. It's everywhere these days."
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
Taehyung frowned. "Stayin' Alive? That's ancient! Omg you're really ancient 😂”
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"Ancient? It just came out!"
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"You're really from 1975," Taehyung typed, his heart pounding.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
“ And you're really from 2025," Jungkook replied
They both sat in stunned silence, staring at their respective typewriters. The reality of their connection began to sink in, bringing equal parts fear and awe.
Taehyung's fingers hovered over the keys, his thoughts racing.
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"Jungkook... what if this typewriter chose us for a reason? What if we were meant to find each other?"
Jungkook stared at the letter, his chest tightening.
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"I don't know. But I want to find out. And now I have to go I need to sleep I have to go to work "
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
"okay jungkook let's talk tomorrow again hopefully this typewriter will work and you won't mysteriously vanish within the night"
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"haha you're funny but seriously if it doesn't work anymore I would miss you taehyung I liked talking to you "
Kim Taehyung
Kim Taehyung
" same here jungkook I really wish it will work."
Before signing off for the night, Jungkook sent one last letter
jeon Jungkook
jeon Jungkook
"Taehyung... do you think this is a coincidence? Or were we meant to meet like this?"
Taehyung's heart raced as he read the words. Somewhere deep inside, he felt the same thing. But before he could reply, a strange feeling washed over him, like he wasn't alone in the room.
He glanced over his shoulder, his pulse quickening.
