"Well, it's a long story, but she belonged to the servitude. From the moment she was born, it was known that she was doomed. Her parents were slaves of the King, so she was born and raised as such. However, when she reached adolescence, the king became obsessed with her, to the point that he even wanted to marry her. However, what he never imagined is that his own firstborn, 'the bastard' that he had tried to get rid of, would claim her as his mate. So, when he found her, he massacred his own father in such a way that not even traces of his existence remained. Anyway, as you can see, in the packs we also have stories like Romeo and Juliet, but ours are much better than those of humans," he mocked with a smile. "Come, let me show you the rest of the room," he said, heading in the opposite direction. "Look, here you have your dressing room, it has more than enough space for all your things. You also have a dresser, a desk, and over there you have a private bathroom." "And my favorite part..." he said with suspense, opening the curtains wide. "Ta-da! The best view of the mansion, you have it here, on your balcony." "My God," I said, speechless, looking at the whole place. Without a doubt, it was extraordinary, you could practically see the entire village from end to end.
"Well, there will be time for me to show you the rest. Now let's go to the living room, dinner is ready."
"..."
A few minutes later…
"Please, Naomi, sit down," Lesly invited me with a gesture.
"Thank you very much," I said, settling at the table.
"Where is Howl?" my godfather asked, entering the room.
"Who is Howl?" I subtly asked Mariel.
"He's my brother, Demian. Dad nicknamed him that when he was little because every time he howled, he managed to shatter the windows of the mansion," she laughed. "He's practically never home, he's a popular young man in the region," she said, this time narrowing her eyes. "You'll understand what I mean..." she warned me, and it was true. During dinner, my godfather's son arrived accompanied by his girlfriend, Ursula. When I saw him enter, I immediately understood why Mariel had told me he was a very popular young man.
It was the first time I had seen such an imposing young man, with a height that placed him above average people. His skin was pale, his features fine, his eyes were a mix of blue and gray, which seemed to change tone depending on the light and the angle from which he was looked at. In addition, he had a physical complexion that denoted tremendous strength, with well-defined muscles that stood out even more due to the tattoos that snaked across his arms and that his shirt showed through on his torso. "I think this guy wasn't warned about the use of steroids"... I thought to myself.
"Welcome," he intoned dryly and directly from a distance, sitting down at the table while his girlfriend greeted the family. My godfather hardened his jaw, he looked annoyed, as if he intended to reprimand him, but he said nothing.
"Thank you," I limited myself to saying. For some reason, it gave me goosebumps when his gaze fell on mine.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Ursula. 'Demian's girlfriend'," she said, greeting me with a gesture. Did it seem to me or did she emphasize the word GIRLFRIEND in her tone of voice?
I stared at her in amazement, not because of what I thought, but because her beauty was supernatural, yes, like her boyfriend's. Her face was perfect, with high cheekbones, blue eyes, and a delicately shaped nose, in addition to the bliss of a slender and perfectly proportioned figure.
"And you are...?" she asked me.
"Naomi, Jose's goddaughter. A pleasure to meet you," I introduced myself politely.
"Ah, yes, right. 'The Alpha's goddaughter'," no, I'm definitely not crazy, she did it again. What was her problem? I thought.
"Tell me, Naomi, which pack do you come from?" Ursula asked me with a curious expression, taking a seat.
I looked at her without knowing what to answer, but after thinking about it for a moment, I didn't see the need to hide my origin from her. Sooner or later, she would end up discovering it.
"I'm human," I replied serenely.
"What do you mean specifically by human? I thought you came from an important pack, like Lunar Swamp or maybe..." Ursula continued, before being interrupted by my godfather Jose.
"She is human," he repeated, in a tone that made it clear that the subject was closed. "I imagine you will make her feel like part of the pack, right?"
"Of course, my lord," she replied with a smile. "We will be great friends," she added, looking at me with a forced smile, which barely disguised it. "I was just wondering how the others in the village will receive her. She is the only human in the region," she commented. "Demian will take care of that," Lesly intervened. "My boy will take care of her, no one will dare to bother her at the institute. Right, son?" he nodded in silence. He didn't seem happy about it, in fact, he seemed to hate it.
"You hadn't told me, darling, that she would be studying with us," Ursula mentioned to Demian, as if it were a big deal.
"Isn't it obvious?" Mariel interrupted. "She's the Alpha's goddaughter, Ursula, if he says she'll study, no one will dare to deny her a place."
