Alpha White, The Origin Of The Mestiza
She tried to calm him down by taking his hand tightly and simply closed her eyes, surrendering to each lash that dismembered her bare back.
At that moment, immersed in the intense pain, the only thing that could comfort her was thinking that she had saved her father's life. Nothing had more value than that for her; if her body could grant him one more day of life, she would give it again and again without hesitation.
Her eyes began to fail her; she saw her life flash before her eyes. Suddenly, a deafening howl shook the walls and the window panes shattered into a thousand pieces.
A deep, harsh growl intensified along with the screams of that man who knew it was his end. In a matter of seconds, he was gutted, crushed like garbage by the claws of that beast.
Some minutes later, the slave felt the warmth of a different body that took her quickly, but gently, into its arms. She smiled contentedly; by its thick and soft fur, she recognized that the little wolf she had saved as a child had finally returned to her...
PRESENT DAY
≈NAOMI≈
When I was little, my father used to tell me stories about werewolves, witches, legends, and all kinds of fantastic things. Clearly, like any little girl, I loved those stories, but I never imagined they could be real. Of course, that all changed when I turned seventeen and accidentally discovered that my godfather was; a werewolf.
That day was crazy. We were sitting in the backyard, surrounded by the immensity of the forest that embraced the house, enjoying the night with Dad and Jose, my godfather.
Everything was going wonderfully until a strange silhouette, suspended in the air as if gravity had no power over it, appeared in front of us.
In an instant, I found myself paralyzed with fear. That silhouette hidden under a black robe concealed its appearance under a hood that completely covered its face. The aura of evil that emanated was so great that, with just breathing, I felt it oppressed my lungs from the inside.
"You." He said, raising a finger, pointing directly at me.
Instinctively, I stepped back. Just when I was about to take another step back, I felt a firm hand on my shoulder. It was Dad, who, maintaining a tense but defiant attitude, stood between that effigy and me, as if he were willing to do anything to keep me safe.
The silhouette remained levitating, motionless but grim, as if waiting for the exact moment to attack.
Then, something incredible happened. It was incredible and terrifying at the same time.
I saw it, I saw my godfather transform into a werewolf before my very eyes. With a fierce howl, he pounced on her, unleashing a fight so brutal that, even today, I am impressed to remember it.
They faced each other with such ferocity that the fight seemed taken from a horror movie rather than a fantasy one. I was stunned, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. At one point I remember that I collapsed, there was blood splattered everywhere, but I couldn't tell whose it was.
Some minutes later, I don't know how many exactly, Jose managed to seriously injure that thing, which disappeared into the darkness, just like that, just as it had arrived.
And yes, if you ask me, it was hard for me to assimilate it, because how could something like that be real? Werewolves, evil figures... for God's sake!, what was left for me to think? That the boogeyman, chimeras and the headless horseman were also real? How absurd!, but no, in this case the evidence was before my eyes, and I couldn't deny it.
Since then I began to realize that my world was not as normal as I thought.
Dad made me promise him that I wouldn't ask him what or who that figure was or why it was there. He just told me that, for my own good, it was better if I didn't know. However, not even my silence managed to prevent his death. A year later, on my eighteenth birthday, that thing reappeared and without a word snatched his life away.
The marks that lie on my back and on part of my arms are a constant reminder that I lost him, and despite the fact that I strive to remember exactly what happened, I don't succeed. Everything was so fast... Sometimes I wonder if things would have been different if he had told me the truth...
