"Ha ha, you have nowhere to run!" she heard their smug voices as their expressions radiated arrogance. She began to think fast. What can I do? What can I do? she repeated in her mind. Desperately scanning the entire area, she still couldn’t come up with a solution.

Just then, the door was pushed open. A young man strode in confidently. Hope! she thought with a surge of relief.

“Release her right now!” the servant accompanying the young man commanded. “Who do you think you are? Why don’t you kneel when you see our Young Master?”

One of the assassins sneered. “Who do you think your Young Master is? We were sent to kill this loser. If those who sent us find out we failed, they’ll treat us like worthless pawns. We can’t afford to offend them.”

The leader of the assassins having thought of their situation knew they were at a disadvantage since they were not expecting anyone to to ave this useless bitch raised his hand to stop his subordinates. “We are sorry, Young Master. Just pretend you didn’t see us.” With that, the group hurriedly left.

The Young Master turned to face her. "Why is this Young Master here?" Lin Yi wondered silentlyic she remembered well this is the shen family young master. It became clear when she recalled that he was visiting the Lin family. He must have gone out for a stroll and overheard rumors about her being unfavored and targeted. When the local medicine shops refused to sell to her, he probably seized the opportunity to help, making the Lin family owe him a favor.

“Are you okay, Miss Lin?” Young Master Shen asked, extending his hand to help her up.

Lin Yi stood, deliberately avoiding his hand. She didn’t look like someone who had just gone through a dangerous situation. Calmly dusting off her clothes, she walked a little distance past him before cupping her hands and saying, “Thank you, Young Master Shen. I will find a way to repay your favor so that I owe you nothing.” Without another word, she left.

“Just like that?” a servant muttered. “Young Master, this loser doesn’t even put you in her eyes!”

Hearing this, a strange light shone in Young Master Shen’s eyes, and he immediately followed her. “Miss Lin, is there anything else I can help you with?” he asked.

Lin Yi hesitated for a moment before replying, “Yes, Young Master Shen. I need your help to purchase these medicines.”

The Young Master called over his servant, handed him the list, and ordered, “Get these medicines for me as soon as possible.”

Lin Yi nodded. “Thank you, Young Master Shen.”

“No problem, Miss Lin.”

They both made their way back to the Lin residence. Meanwhile, assassins sent by Lin Si, who had been watching from a distance, returned to report.

“Miss,” one of them said, “we bribed the medicine shops not to sell to that loser. The plan proceeded smoothly until some other people intervened. We hid and watched as they revealed their intentions to kill her. However, Young Master Shen suddenly appeared, rescued her, and escorted her back. It seems he overheard the gossip about her and stepped in to play the hero.”

“That bitch!” Lin Si hissed. “How does she manage to attract people with just her face? She’s obviously useless trash! If only I could get Young Master Shen to look at me like that, my status would rise. But that loser had him licking her boots without even trying. Such a useless man!”

Back at the Lin residence, the servant had already retrieved the medicine. “He’s efficient,” Lin Yi thought. She took the medicine, bowed to him with her usual cold and elegant demeanor, and walked away.

“When did she become like this?” Young Master Shen murmured, watching her leave with growing admiration.

Later, after refining the medicine in her mother’s courtyard, Lin Yi steeled herself for what lay ahead.
