Different ' Little Sister '

The next day, Adelaide still had to wake up way even though she pulled an all nighter because she had a to go through a full body check up. The whole day was filled with nothing but rushing in between meals to go to CT scans, mental health etc. By the time she finally had a chance to take a short nap, it was only an hour or two before noon.

When Adelaide was slightly startled during her rest, she was subconsciously awoken. Even so, her eyes only twitched a little and barely blinked. In a glance, she saw a man sitting next to her bed. Though he looked unfamiliar, she didn't bother to think further about it as the sleep as still in her eyes.

Unbeknownst to her, the man who sat next to her saw she reaction and was exuberant about it. He wanted to wake her up and talk to her but Adelaides's adorable sleeping face made him reluctant to do so. So, he just ran towards the reception to ask for a doctor to give her a check up.

The sight of a slightly tanned hottie running towards her made the nurse fall into a short daze. She just stood as still as a statue as the man catches his breathe and begins to speak.

" Get Doctor Winston to room 801 in 5 minutes if not, both of you are going to spend the rest of his lifetime in South Africa ! "

As soon as she heard the nurse quickly woke up and grabbed the hospital's communication device and entered the doctor's contact number. Then, she anxiously sets it on speaker and waited for the owner to pick up the call.

" tit, tit, tit, tit.......Hello ?! How many times have I told you people to not call me when I'm in the middle of a surgery ?! Do you have any idea how dangerous it is to - "

" Winston, meet me at Aid's room in 5 minutes or pick up your bags and go to Africa ! "

" .... Yes, sir.... "

The nurse was stunned. She had never seen the ruthless doctor lower his head to anyone before. In the hospital, he remained the most difficult doctor to deal with whether it was by his fellow co-workers, patients or visitors. Yet, this time, the bossy doctor was not only speechless but also.... obedient !

Meanwhile, Winston was more than anxious. His worst nightmare had finally came back from his business trip overseas but the first thing he did was shout at him. With the exception of the first time he met the man, he never felt more scared to face him or anyone before. Even though his expression barely changed, his hands started trembling and causes the anxiety to spread to his co-workers in the surgical room as well. Everyone just gulped down their saliva as they try to imagine what kind of a monster could've made the fearless doctor shiver in fear.

" I- I, n-need to go. E-Eric, take over for me. "

" Yes, sir. "

Then, Winston quickly took off his surgical attire and ran towards the elevator. He pressed the button to reach the top floor and waited for the elevator to arrive at its designated floor with cold feet.

He tapped his shoes countless times and the loud tapping sounds echoed in the elevator, disturbing the other users. However, none was brave enough to voice their complaints as soon as they glanced at Winston's grim expression.

When the elevator finally opened its doors at the right floor, Winston dashed out and ran straight towards room 801. When he finally arrived, a man accompanied by 2 bodyguards was standing right in front of the door with an angry expression.

" 4 minutes and 58 seconds.... On top of that, Aid woke up yesterday at 15:38. If I total it all up, it'll be equivalent to almost 24 hours! Winston Rich, have you gotten so relaxed that you even dare delay reporting such a thing to me ?! "

" A-Absolutely, n-not sir. "

" Really?! How about the fact that you guys woke her up a few hours before dawn just to go through all the check ups even though you knew she pulled an all nighter yesterday. "

" I-I....., wasn't here last night, sir. I-I o-only came back from this morning and w-woke her up at the appointed time,sir. "

" Tsk.... I don't care anymore. Check on her and give me a brief report of her situation ASAP ! "

"Yes,sir !"

Winston ran into the ward with his tail between his legs and did a simple check up on the girl without waking her up. He knew that if the girl was even slightly awoken, he might have to at goodbye to this peaceful life and go back to his miserable days of being a military surgeon.

When he was done, he wrote a simple health report and quickly went out of the room.

" Sir, according to my observation, Miss Adelaide's body should be just fine. Except for the vitiligo which she got when she suffered depression 3 years ago, her body and mental health is very stable. Her internal organs are functioning properly and there's no problem with her sensory organs as well. But,..."

" Get to the point, Winston."

" She seemed different these days, sir."

Winston looked around for a moment and signaled the man to follow him into his personal office nearby. Only when they were sure that no one was able to eavesdrop on their conversation, did they began talking again.

" How's she 'different' ? She looked just fine to me."

" I-if SHE's the one who pulled an all nighter yesterday, I-I think she might be the one who beat everyone at Chess last night. "

" That's... impossible. She usually can't even win a single game even against a kid. She's so simpleminded that I doubt that she can beat any of the scheming foxes here, unless..."

" U-unless her IQ and p-perhaps... even her personality change, sir. However, that should be absolutely impossible so, the only possibility left is that 'Adelaide' is an imposter. "

" Are you saying I can't even recognize my own blood-related sister ?! Of course she's not an imposter. "

" M-my apologies, sir. I am only stating the facts, sir. "

The man thought about Winston's words for a while. He knew that there was something strange going on... something stranger than science. But,... he just couldn't grasp on the answer just yet. So, he decided that it's best to just keep things hidden to the outside world if he himself couldn't put his finger into it.

" Hey, Winston. Do you think anyone else would've realised this ? "

" I... doubt that. There's only a minimum number of people treating her and only Liliana is close to her as of now. "

The man was relieved that the person who was close to his sister was his own subordinate. If it were anyone else, he doubted that he could've avoida little bloodshed. Liliana was a bodyguard personally assigned by the man. Although Liliana seemed like a very simple girl at first glance, Liliana is actually a top-level undercover agent who's identity isn't known by anyone other than Winston and the man himself.

" Hmmm... just keep a close eye on her for now. If anything happens, report it to me immediately ! "

" Y-yes, sir."

After the conversation, the two men left the room. Winston immediately excused himself while the man just went back to Adelaide's ward. The man was certainly confused by the words of his subordinate. However, there wasn't much that he could do for now. Therefore, he decided that it's best to just let things be this way until he actually finds out what's going on with his little sister's strange new habits. If his little sister went through a great change and needed support, he will indeed stay by her side through thick and thin. However,... if this 'little sister' is just an imposter, perhaps she will just have to die as miserably as how his beloved Aid died.
