The sun hung high in the sky, casting dappled shadows beneath the large oak tree where Theodore and his friends had settled.
It was noon, and the day had slowed to a lazy pace. The air was warm, filled with the distant sounds of laughter and chatter as other students enjoyed their break.
Kai was sitting nearby, casually spinning a football on his finger, his focus entirely on the simple act.
Lucas, always the studious one, was engrossed in a thick book, his brow furrowed in concentration.
Aiden, on the other hand, seemed preoccupied with his phone. His actions were subtle, almost unnoticeable to anyone else, but Theodore knew the small, almost secretive movements as Aiden snapped pictures of Jennifer, who was sitting some distance away with her friends, chatting and laughing.
Theodore grinned a little, but he didn’t say anything. He just leaned back against the rough bark of the tree, closing his eyes, trying to block out the world around him.
His mind was a storm of thoughts and emotions, swirling together in a chaotic mess that he couldn’t untangle.
At first, he had been certain that he was trapped in his memories, forced to relive them as punishment for his past mistakes.
But now, as he sat there, doubts began to creep in.
Why were things happening so slowly? Why did every second stretch out, forcing him to experience every mundane detail?
Even the most insignificant moments—the lectures he barely remembered, the boring conversations—everything was unfolding with a vividness that felt disturbingly real.
His thoughts raced as he tried to make sense of it.
What kind of punishment was this? If he was truly being punished, shouldn’t he be forced to relive the worst moments, the ones that hurt the most?
Why was he stuck in these seemingly meaningless memories? What was so special about this day that he was condemned to experience it over and over again?
The more he thought about it, the more confused he became.
It was as if he was missing something, some crucial piece of the puzzle that would explain everything.
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t grasp it. The confusion gnawed at him, deepening the sense of dread that had taken root in his heart.
As he sat there, eyes closed, Theodore could feel the world around him moving forward, each moment passing by with agonizing slowness.
His friends continued with their activities, unaware of the turmoil inside him.
Aiden snapped another picture of Jennifer, a small smile playing on his lips as he watched her from afar. Kai’s football spun lazily on his finger, while Lucas turned another page of his book, completely absorbed in whatever he was reading.
But what Theodore didn’t realize was that his questions were on the verge of being answered.
The doubts that had started to form in his mind were just the beginning.
Soon, the reality of his situation would become clear, and the truth would shatter the fragile understanding he had clung to.
For now, all he could do was wait, lost in his thoughts, as the world continued to move around him, each second drawing him closer to the revelation that would change everything.

Theodore's whirlwind of thoughts was abruptly interrupted when he felt something hard hit him in the chest, causing him to jerk his eyes open.
He subconsciously glared in Kai's direction, expecting to see his friend grinning mischievously.

But instead, he found Kai staring wide-eyed in another direction, his mouth hanging open in shock.
Theo frowned, following Kai's gaze.
He noticed that everyone around them, even Lucas, who had been deeply engrossed in his book, was now looking up with the same stunned expression.
Their eyes were all fixed on something happening nearby.
Trailing his eyes to where everyone was looking, Theodore quickly spotted the source of their collective astonishment.
There, in the middle of the path, was Jack, the notorious campus playboy.
He was lying on the ground, curled up and holding his crotch, clearly in a world of pain.
Standing in front of him, with an air of unbothered confidence, was a girl.
Her lavender hair flowed freely in the breeze, and she wore sunglasses that hid her eyes but did nothing to conceal her fierce expression.
The scene was almost comical in its clarity—anyone could tell exactly what had happened. Jack had clearly tried his usual routine on the wrong person.
As Jack attempted to push himself up, perhaps to retaliate, the girl moved swiftly.
She landed a kick that sent him back down, and without a second thought, she stepped on him, dragging her suitcase behind her as she continued walking forward.
The crowd, initially shocked into silence, began to part as she walked through, leaving Jack writhing on the ground in agony.
Theodore was as stunned as everyone else.
His initial surprise quickly gave way to something deeper, a strange feeling that shot up in his mind, stirring memories he hadn’t wanted to confront.
As the girl drew closer, her figure became clearer, and that feeling intensified.
He couldn’t shake the sense that he needed to stop her, to reach out before she disappeared from his life forever.
A sudden, almost desperate fear gripped him—if he let her go, he was going to lose something incredibly precious.
His heart began to race, each beat echoing loudly in his ears as he pushed himself to his feet and started running toward her.
The closer he got, the more the feeling grew, as if every fiber of his being was urging him forward.
And then, when he was close enough to see her face clearly, he froze.

L-Lena…
Her name slipped from his lips, raw with emotion.
The moment the name escaped his mouth, the girl paused, as if she had heard his call.
Slowly, she turned her head in his direction, her movements almost deliberate.

Their eyes met, even with her sunglasses on, and Theodore felt the intensity of her gaze as if the world had suddenly stopped spinning.
In that fleeting moment, nothing else existed—just him and her.

Time seemed to stand still as they stared at each other, the noise of the campus fading into the background.
For Theodore, it was as if the past and present had collided, leaving him standing on the precipice of something he couldn’t quite comprehend.
He couldn’t move, couldn’t think.
All he could do was stare at the woman who looked so much like Lena, his heart pounding in his chest, overwhelmed by a surge of emotions that threatened to consume him.
