"Hey y'all, I'm Ava Smith, a 15-year-old american! My mom, Sandra Smith, and my dad, Carl Johnson, make up our awesome family. And of course, there's my spunky little sister, Missy Smith, who's 7 years old and keeps us on our toes!

"Ava! Missy! Wake up!" Mom's voice called from downstairs.

"Coming', Mom," I grumbled, dragging myself out of bed. Checking the clock, it was only 6 am, and we had classes starting at 8. I sighed, feeling tired after a restless night. Slipping into my slippers, I trudged to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

When I finally made it downstairs, Missy was already halfway down. "Hey Missy, good morning," I greeted her with a yawn.

"Morning," she replied, stifling a yawn of her own.

Down at the kitchen table, Mom and Dad were already waiting for us. "Good morning, Missy and Ava," Dad greeted us warmly.

"Morning, Dad," I replied, trying to shake off my sleepiness.

"Good morning, Dad!" Missy chirped with her usual energy.

We settled in and dug into Mom's delicious pancakes. "These are so good, Mom," I complimented her between bites.

"Yeah, Mom! Can you teach me how to make these?" Missy asked eagerly.

"Of course, sweetie," Mom replied with a smile. "We'll have a cooking session on the weekend."

"But the weekend seems so far away," Missy pouted.

"Don't worry, Missy," I reassured her. "It's only Wednesday; the weekend will be here before you know it."

"Yeah, I'm just so excited to make pancakes with you and Mom," Missy exclaimed.

Mom smiled warmly at us. "Alright then, it's a plan! We'll have a pancake-making session this weekend."

Missy clapped her hands in delight, and I couldn't help but feel a little excited myself.

After finishing our meal and catching up at the dining table, Missy and I headed upstairs to get ready for school. I locked the door behind me and headed straight for the bathroom. A few minutes later, freshly showered and dressed, I heard Dad's urgent call from downstairs.

"Dad, hold on!" I called back, hastily gathering my things before dashing to Missy's room. "Missy, come on, we're going to be late!" I exclaimed.

"I'm coming," she replied, swinging open her door as we hurried downstairs.

"Bye Mom, love you!" Missy called out.

"Love you too, Mom!" I added.

"Alright, love you both," Mom responded.

I swung open the door, and Missy and I quickly hopped into the car.

"Ready to go?" Dad asked as he started the engine.

"Yes, Dad, let's go!" I replied eagerly

As my sister and I were dropped off at school, we soon went our separate ways in the hallway. As I headed towards my locker, I spotted my friend Danica approaching.

"Hi Ava! Have you heard the news yet?" Danica asked eagerly.

"Hey Dani! What news are you talking about?" I replied curiously.

"There's a new guy who just transferred, and let me tell you, he's quite the looker!" Danica exclaimed.

"Oh, maybe he'll take a liking to you," I teased.

"No chance," Danica chuckled, "Monica already has her eyes on him."

"Monica? The popular girl?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Yep, so it looks like no one else stands a chance," Danica sighed.

"Well, good luck to that boy," I said with a grin.

And with that, we both burst out laughing, imagining the drama that would inevitably unfold.
