Over the next few days, Taehyung adjusted to having Jungkook around. Despite his imposing presence, the demon was surprisingly attentive. He had a way of anticipating Taehyung’s needs before he even voiced them—refilling his tea, fixing the broken hinge on the apartment door, and even cooking meals when Taehyung was too tired from work.
Taehyung found himself smiling more often. It was strange, having someone who genuinely seemed to care for him. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt so… safe.
One afternoon, as they walked to the café together, Taehyung glanced at Jungkook, who was carrying a basket of supplies.

“You don’t have to do all this, you know,” Taehyung said. “I can manage.”

Jungkook looked down at him, his expression softening. “I want to. You summoned me, Taehyung. That means I’m yours. It’s my duty to help you.”

Taehyung frowned. “I don’t see you as a servant, Jungkook.”

“Then what do you see me as?” Jungkook asked, his golden eyes locking onto Taehyung’s.
Taehyung hesitated, the intensity of Jungkook’s gaze making his heart race.

“A friend,” he said finally, his voice barely above a whisper.

Jungkook’s lips curved into a small smile. “Friend, huh? I can live with that.”
