Chapter 3: Another Job to Add

The CEO greeted the two girls when they arrived at his office.

“What can I do for you guys?” He asked. Kei didn’t know what to say and slightly started to fidget with her hands. This seemed to be rather weird to the CEO, since Kei was a rather good communicator at work.

Even though Kei was deemed as brilliant, she wasn’t too fond of socializing with people. Nagisa noticed this and proceeded to answer for her friend:

“Kei wants to become one of the company’s part-time janitors. She barely gets any work as an idol and apparently, she’s bored a lot of the times.”

The CEO thought about it for a minute then agreed.

“I don’t see what the harm is, just prioritze the tasks given to you as an idol before you start mopping floors, understand?”

Kei nodded and slightly smiled. Her and Nagisa headed out of the office.

“It seems like my break is over, I’ll be at the marketing department if you need me.” Nagisa said, as she turned around to leave.

“Wait….”

Nagisa turned around and was intrigued at what Kei had to say.

“Thanks for speaking up for me back there.”

Nagisa smiled and said: “That’s what friends do.” She turned around and headed for the marketing department.

Kei headed to where the janitorial equipment was stored. She took out a mop and started to mop the floors, starting from the ground floor.

The other employees of the company could not believe their eyes: one of the company’s idols is mopping the floors. This was a sight to behold since all of the company’s idols were too arrogant to even afford cleaning after themselves. They always expect the janitors to do it for them.

One of the employees approached Kei in order to say hi to her. Kei appeared rather tense but still smiled.

“Why are you mopping the floors?” The employee asked. “Your co-workers are just walking around the company building or are outside partying.”

“I’m just bored. I don’t like parties all that much.” Kei said. “I want to do some work since I’m currently assigned with nothing right now. It sucks to not be the main star hahaha, not that I’m jealous of her of course.”

“You’re nice to talk to. My name’s Takahashi Fuyuko.” The employee, Fuyuko, introduced herself. “I also work in the marketing department under Saito-san’s leadership.”

“Leadership?” Kei asked. “I didn’t know Saito-san was a leader.”

“She’s currently the head of our department.” Fuyuko said.

“I didn’t know that my housemate’s a big shot here.” Kei said. “Interesting.”

“She’s so nice and she’s not mean, unlike our old marketing heads. They were usually old farts who liked barking orders and even assaulting the staff. Saito-san is our best marketing head yet.” Fuyuko said.

“I’m honestly indebted to her. She helped me find a job and even got me off the streets. I’ll always be thankful for what she’s done for me.” Kei said. ”Alright, that’s the ground floor done.”

“Are you going now?” Fuyuko asked.

“I just gotta mop the other floors of the company. See you again soon, Takahashi-san!.” Kei said, as she headed for the elevator with a mop in hand.
