double team

The sound of my sneakers splashing against the puddles of water filled the air.

I looked around to see people in shops, people in cars, people outside, and people indoors.

The thought crossed my mind that any of these people could be killed by just a simple touch. I also thought that some of these peoples names could be on the list inside my book.

I wasn't gonna get to a mafia's house on foot so I asked a bartender to borrow their phone and call an Uber.

It was like magic for how fast the Uber arrived.

Getting in I took notice of the man driving….he didn't look human. Not like I did anymore then him but still….he gave me a creepy feeling.

"Good Evening Mr Shin," the man said with a polite voice. How do you- "well how rude of me, I'm Fujin…you may call me a spirit but I was sent by hava to drive you to your first...job…." it went silent for a few seconds before the man spoke again. Call me Jin, your new personal driver.

I thought for a second then asked. Are you dead?…. "Well that's one way to ruin the mood child. But if you must know my soul passed on centuries ago. Unlike most, instead of going to what you humans call heaven I was selected to work for the gods as an assistant or In more realistic terms….a butler."

How old are you?..."Oh dear!. The man giggled. Do humans seriously still keep count of their age? I thought after a few hundred years they would have changed. Though if I were to guess I would say about 450 years old? Probably not the exact number but an estimate never hurts now does it?"

The man turned towards the street again and narrowed his eyes. "Well this is where we'll have to say goodbye, it was lovely meeting you, oh and check that book of yours one more time can you?." I looked at the man a little confused but I stepped out the car, shut the door, then opened my book to see.

The man took me deeper into his house till I spoke. How old are you? "I thought you said you were good at your job?" The man said sarcastically. I am!! I replied. 26? I said a bit nervously. The man looked impressed by my skill and let me stay. I thought about how lucky he was that he only touched my hoodie when he pushed me, Also when he pulled me inside. The thought of him dying on the first day made me nervous. So I thought of a way to make sure that didn't happen again.

Um.. Mister can you please not touch me? The man tilted his head. I'm…uuuuumm…a germaphobe!!.

The man's face was blank for a second but then nodded his head.

He then stood up and went towards his closet. What are you doing? The man took out a white hoodie and put it on. " The question is what are you doing?" …… " Don't you have a mission or something? Or did the boss send you here to bother me?".

I was sent to….help you?... The man sighed. "Ok…shin…I've been assigned to assassinate the CEO of a big company.If you can help with that then…..what do you want?" I want answers. "What?...." I…I like to know more about you…it's my specialty!. I said sarcastically. "......fine…but I'll only answer 2 questions." That's ok with me.

The man tied his shoes and put on a pair of gloves. "Put these on" the man threw a pair of gloves at me which I caught and put on.

"Put your hoodie up. We're going somewhere." I did as I was told and we walked out of the house.

"I have a car but it's out of gas, not to mention it's out of shape. Do you mind heading two blocks down and picking up some gas?" I nodded in response. I wanted to check my book again anyway because I felt it shake a little.

I started walking down the street while nat fixed the car. I opened my book to see another letter.

"Hey little master ;) I snuck into the boss of the mafia's company and changed someone's file to your name. They are a newcomer as well so it's not likely the boss will remember their face. Any who, don't worry about them showing up unexpectedly, I....took care of them….. tell Young Natsu I said hiiii!!! ;D"

"Oh and you should probably wear those gloves more often, For Natsu's safety and because your nails look like they've been through an existential crisis. bye!!😉"

HOW DOES HE!?!!!?!!??!!- huh? The book flipped to another page showing a picture of a girl. "Sato Ayla"

A relative of his? Why is she important though?

I came to the conclusion that the book gave me tips or clubs every now and then. I'll need to get a phone so I can contact natsuki and maybe even that weird butler dude. Dose hava have a phone number?, I mean why would a god need one?.

I shook my head and realized I'm at the gas station. I headed inside but then realized…I don't have any money…the guy at the register gave me a glare. I guess he thought I was going to steal something since I looked a bit nervous and had my hood on in 90° degree weather. I didn't blame him though.

I pretend to look around the store hoping to find a way out of this.

Maybe someone dropped money on the floor by accident?....no..

I was on the last aisle and the man seemed to grow more and more suspicious. But then.

A girl with red hair and Hazel eyes stood next to me. "You're quite bad at stealing Mr."

I looked up at her in surprise. I'm not- " are you poor?" No-....no I'm not…I just.. forgot my wallet. The girl tilted her head a bit but smiled. I squinted my eyes at how much she seemed like my sister…same smile..same eyes… same happy spirit..I miss you..ma- "well how about this! I'll pay for you!!!" You'll what- "I'll pay!!" I heard what you said. It's just..why? The girl thought for a moment "...oh OH I know! Because it's my birthday!!" IT'S YOUR WHAT- "birthd-" I heard what you said! There's no way this girl could possibly have the same exact birthday as my sister…right?. ....how…how old are you?. "I'm 14!" So not the same year then..

I think the girl noticed my discomfort "are you ok?" Your answer still doesn't make sense. Why would you pay on your own birthday?. The girl thought for a second then spoke. " Because I was born for a reason right? So the day I was born Should be to prove that. If I help others then it's proving I'm here for a reason." ….. What's your name?..."Ayla!"

My eyes widened for a second and then went back to normal.
