Chapter 5- Full Moon

"Vivi" Elijah says as he leans his head on my shoulder.

It's been 2 years since i met Elijah and It's finally fall! The leaves are turning pretty colors like orange, red, yellow, and brown. I decided to picnic outside and Elijah decided to come with me.

"What is it?" I say as I flip another page of my book.

"Today's my birthday" He says.

"I know! Happy birthday!" I say enthusiastically.

"Thank you! But I want a present" He demands.

"I knew you'd say that" I chuckle.

I hand him a crown made out of white Morning Glories.

"Wow it's very pretty!" He beams.

He puts the crown on

"How do I look?" He asksas he smiles.

"Dashing" I laugh

"Vivi I'm inviting you to my birthday party!" He beams.

"Really? Me?" I say in astonishment.

"Of course! All my friends are coming...and I want you there too" He says as his face turns red.

At this point I'm used to his face turning red at weird times, but I still don't know what it means.

"Okay! When is it?" I ask him.

"It's at night, tonight's a full moon too" He says.

"Night....? I'll have to ask Isla" I say.

"I can come with you!" He says.

"You don't need to worry about me. You have a lot of preparing to do anyways" I say.

"That is true. Oh and don't forget to wear a dress! it's a formal, if that's what you want to call it" He says as he waves goodbye and walks away.

I go back to the hill and ask Isla "Can I go to Elijah's birthday party?"

"Sure. When is it?" She asks.

"Night time" I say.

"That's fine, just be here before 10." She says calmly.

"Oh ok! Thanks Isla you're the best!" I say as I hug her.

She hugs me back. "But..don't you need a dress since you're going to a party..?" She asks.

"Oh yeah" I say.

"Leave it to me Hon, I'll make sure you will glow in that moonlight tonight" She says as she winks at me.

I laugh and motion Puppy to follow me as I go outside to practice my spells.

"Okay today we're going to practice the fire spell" I say out loud.

I try to cast it but everytime I do, the thoughts of that day rush back to me. But I try my hardest until finally after hourse of trying, I was able to perform it and burn an apple.

I go back to the hill to find a beautiful navy blue dress laying on my bed with a note that says "Have fun. You're been working hard this year, you deserve the break. P.S if you come back after 10 I'm going to kill you"

I laugh and put my dress on and go to the usual meeting spot where I meet Elijah everyday.

"Wow Vivian...you look amazing" Elijah says when he sees me. His face is red again.

I glance at him to see he's wearing a Navy blue tuxedo with a little bow.

"I didn't know werewolves had good taste in clothing" I joked.

"I didn't think witches could make such good dresses either" he joked back.

"I'm not a witch" I remind him.

"I know" he grins as he takes my hand and walks me to his cave.

"Wait...," I say. "won't your pack know that I not one of them and get mad." I say nervously.

"don't worry, since today is like a gathering, other wolf packs will be here too. Nobody will notice you. This is one of the few days that the other wolf98 packs get along with each other since today is my 13th birthday and this is a very important party since I'm the next in lead to become the next alpha male." He says.

"okay!" I say as I follow him into the cave.

The cave was decorated with lots of mushrooms that glow in the dark and pretty Night Queen flowers. I stare at the other wolves. Everyone is in their human form and they look amazing. The party has already started and everyone is chatting and dancing. This reminds me of the balls I used to attend back in the palace with all the nobles.

"May I have this dance, M' lady?" He asks in a British accent as he reaches out his hand.

"You may" I chuckle as I take his hand.

I feel the bright moonlight against my skin and the way my dress sparkle as he spins me. Dancing like this brings back memories of when mother and father would dance together in my room for fun and I would laugh and smile as I watch them have fun dancing.

I feel a small tear roll down my eye and Elijah stops. He cups my face with his hands and asks "Vivian you're crying! are you alright?" He asks with a concerned look on his face.

"Yes Elijah. I'm not crying because I'm sad," I say. "I'm crying because I'm happy" I chuckle.

"I'm so glad you're happy" he says as he pulls me into a hug. "You're my best friend" he adds.

I smile and say "You're my best friend too" and I hug him back.

I feel like I could explode. My heart feels so light. I wonder if I'm even allowed to be this happy when I know my parents aren't here anymore. I look up at the sky and mumble "If this is a gift from both of you. Thank you. I love you."

"What'd you say?" Elijah asks confused.

"Oh nothing" I say as I smile.

"Okay! Also it's 9 now. I think we should start heading back if we don't want Isla mad" He chuckles.

"Yes that is true" I laugh but I deep down I feel disappointed that it all has to come to an end.

We leave the cave and start to go back.

"So did you like the party?" Elijah asks playfully.

"Yes it was really fun" I beam.

We continue to walk in silence.

Then suddenly I hear wolves howling.

"Oh that's just them howling at the moon" He says.

Then suddenly I trip on something and fall but Elijah catches me on time.

"Woah easy there" He says and for some reason my heart skips a beat.

I look back to see what i tripped on but I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a crystal.

"Elijah, you don't know any other caves that have crystals other than Isla's home, right?" I ask.

"I've lived here my whole life, so yes. But why are you asking that?" he asks.

I show him the crystal.

"It's a crystal." He says.

"Yes but why is it here? The hill is at least 20 minutes away from here." I say.

"You don't think..." he begins.

"I think someone tried to steal this" I say looking at the crystal.

"But who?" He asks.

Then we see a shadow. It disappears.

"You know we've been seeing a lot of shadows lately..." I say.

"Yeah.." He says.

Then of nowhere someone shoots an arrow.

"Run." I say as I grab Elijah's hand and run as fast as I possibly can.

We stop for breath then I feel an arrow zip right past me slicing my arm.

"Vivian!" Elijah says as he reaches for my arm.

"It's fine, it's just a cut." I say. I walk to a tree and perform the invisibility spell behind it as I take Elijah's arm and hold my breath.

Luckily we were just a few minutes away from the hill, so we take a shortcut that leads to a secret entrance to it.

"Isla!" Elijah yells as he leads me to my room.

"What is it?" Isla says as she rushes to me.

"Oh my baby" Isla says as she hugs me.

"Isla... I'm not a baby.. I'm fine" I say as I let her hug me.

"Who did this?" She says as she gives Elijah a sharp look.

"We don't know. We were walking back then this shadow started shooting arrows at us." Elijah says.

"Not only that but we found a crystal laying on the ground far away from the hill" I say as I show her the crystal.

"That's not possible...unless someone broke in and stole it" She says in fear.

"For now let's worry about Vivi. That arrow could be poisoned." Elijah says.

"That's right." She says as she goes to grab some of her magic creams and bandages.

After she's done I walk Elijah out.

"Thanks for inviting me to your party" I say.

"Of course" He smiles.

And I still don't know why I did this..but I leaned in and gave Elijah a small kiss on the same cheek that I punched him in 2 years ago.

His face turns really red and he hugs me.

"I promise I won't let you get hurt again like today Vivian" He says.

I hug him back but I couldn't help but feel like someone...was watching us.
