Chapter 4- little boy who cried wolf

"Vivian time to wake up!" Isla says as she rings a bell right next to my ear.

"Isla..." I groan.

"If you want to be a sorceress, you need practice. And by practice, I mean a lot" She says as she waves her hand and breakfast appears.

"How long will it take for me to become a sorceress exactly?" I ask as I eat my breakfast.

"At least 12 years." She says

"12 years?!" I choke on my breakfast

"be grateful. it took me 18 years." She laughs as she heads out.

I just stare at her blankly.

"12 years?! I'm not even 12 years old yet!" I tell Puppy who obviously looks uninterested in my problems.

I just sigh and go to the kitchen.

"Today we will learn how to become invisible" She says.

I sit down and listen to her speak.

"invisibility is a very very useful thing but I it also quite tricky, especially for newbies like you" She says as she boops my nose.

"How come?" I ask.

"you can only be invisible for as long as you can hold your breath. But I found a way to do that much easier. I merged the spell that helps you breathe underwater with the invisibility spell. But that is even more difficult for you. So for now we will focus on the simple version of it" She says.

The entire morning I try to say the words and hold my breath but it doesn't work. So I decide to go to the lake and try there instead.

"Airus Callebrum zodiu cezar" I say as I try to hold my breath. but all that happens is my face that turns red.

I hear something behind me. I quickly turn around to see who or what was making the sound. Then I see something rustling near the bushes. I walk up to the bushes but there was nothing there. Then I quickly turn around and say "Ha! Got you!" I say as I cast a freeze spell on it.

But it turns out to be a boy with black hair and blue eyes. he almost looks like me.

"who are you?" I say.

"who are you?" he asks.

"No no no, I asked first" I demand.

"I'm..Elijah" he says. "And you?"

"Vivian" I say as I unfreeze him.

"thanks" he says. "are you a..."

"don't even think about calling me a witch" I interrupt him.

"then what are you?" he asks

"a sorceress" I say.

"so....a witch.." he says trying to comprehend what I just said.

"I'm not a witch" I screech in anger and annoyance. I could hear a few crows flying away after being freaked out by my screeching. "And you? why are you following me?" I ask.

He blushes and says "I-im not following you!"

"you tell yourself that" I say sarcastically as I start to walk away.

"Wait...can you teach me how you did that?" He asks quietly.

"No only sorceress can" I say with my arms crossed.

"Then I'll become a sorceress" He says.

"Sorceresses are only girls, silly" I say.

"Then I'll become a girl." He says.

I start to laugh. Hysterically.

"It was nice to meet you, Elijah. But now I have to go" I say as I start to walk away.

"Wait!" He says.

But I continue walking, realising I made a horrible mistake telling him who I was and my secret identity. What if he's one of the red masks?

I was half way near the hill then I felt a weird presence. I quickly turned around to see it was the boy again.

"Dude you need to stop stalking me" I say as I continue walking.

"B-But I want to know how you froze me!" he says eagerly.

"I can do it again if you don't leave me" I say, sarcastically.

Then we both hear something. I turn around again but Icouldn't see it. I kept my eyes on that spot and I saw it. Black fur amongst the green bushes.

"Look," I whisper. "It's a wolf"

"I-I don't think we should follow it" He says.

"I'm gonna follow it" I say as I start walking in the wolf's direction.

"It's dangerous." He says.

"So is talking to a stranger, but here we are" I say sarcastically.

"no you don't understand, I will be in big trouble" Elijah says.

"why?" I say as I stop in my tracks.

"b-because I live with them." he says.

There was a dead silence between us.

"So cool!" You have to take me to your den" I squeal with excitement.

Elijah looks at me and his face turns red "o-okay but just a look and we're out of there, alright?" he says.

"Yes!" I say. "But wait..why aren't you a wolf?" I ask as I glance at him.

"I was found by them and they took me in." He says.

I don't say anything and I follow Elijah to their den. There was no way I was going to tell him that one of his wolf buddies almost killed Puppy. I was going to find that wolf myself.

We reach a big cave and walk in.

"This cave echoes a lot so it's best to stay as quiet as possible." He says as he motions me to follow him.

I follow him and I almost gasp when i see that there is a huge hole in the ceiling of the cave, which bathes it with light. I also see the wolves. There were almost 30 of them. Which was a little unusual because from the rumors I heard from the huntsman who lived nearby the castle, he said they had small packs. Maybe he lied. But one thing is for sure, there was not a single wolf with black fur there. they were all different shades of Grey.

"Do you have a Black Wolf in your pack?" I ask quietly.

"why?" he asks.

"I just really want to see one." I say, not entirely lying.

"oh" he says. For some reason his ears turn red.

Then one of the wolves bark really loudly and Elijah says "I have to go. you can explore the cave but not too far and...be careful "

"Okay" I say as I start exploring the cave searching for the wolf.

I walk into what looked like a room and I saw that I walked into a nursery where the cubs were sleeping. Oh my lord. If I make one noise, I'm dead. I quietly start walking out of the room and back to where I started just to see a Black Wolf.

"We meet at last" I say quietly as I stare at the wolf.

however I notice a strange thing, Elijah was nowhere to be found. And I could've sworn that I saw him going down to where the other wolves are.

"No," I say. "There's no way."

A thought comes to my mind. There's no way he's....

I stay at the spot we started in and waited for him to come back.

"Vivian! I'm back!" He says with a smile on his face.

"Elijah...can you shapeshift?" I ask him.

He sighs. "Yes... well all of us can. We're werewolves." He says.

I try to breathe in all the information he just told me.

"You lied to me." I said.

"No, I swear. I actually was found by them and they gave me the power to shapeshift" He says.

"Okay well tell me this. What color is your fur when you shapeshift?" I ask, my hands shaking.

"Black" he says. "I'm a black wolf, and probably the only one actually. You see, Asher, my brother said that-

"You're the one who almost killed Puppy" I say quietly in disbelief.

"Who's Puppy?" he asks.

"Don't pretend to be stupid. I know you saw my dragon and I that day." I say, and I swear I could feel my blood boiling.

"Vivian, I don't know what you're talking about" Elijah says, confused.

I couldn't tell whether he was actually genuine or if he was lying, but I didn't care. Puppy got hurt and he should be lucky that Puppy is a dragon because dragons can heal in half an hour depending on the wound.

And before I knew it I was punching and kicking Elijah.

"Vivian wait!" He says trying to dodge my punches.

But I don't, I'm getting out of control.

Elijah starts to run out of the cave, and I follow him.

I finally catch up to him and punch him right on the face.

"ow" he says, putting his hand on his cheek.

I start to punch him again but he catches my fist and stops me.

"Vivian....you're eyes are glowing.." He says.

And that brings me back to my senses.

I look at Elijah, his wounded cheek, and I just fall to the ground.

"Vivian...are you okay?" He asks softly.

"Why did you hurt my dragon?" I say.

"I didn't mean to, he attacked me first, the only thing i could do was fight back" he says. " I didn't mean for anyone to get hurt" He adds.

He sits next to and leans his head on my shoulder.

"But...I don't think that's the only reason you hit me...is it" He says.

I sigh. "I'm just tired of not being able to do anything for the people I care about. When I saw my dragon hurt, I just had this raging anger and...I guess I wanted to win a battle for him. I wanted to protect him." I say.

"It's okay to feel like that." He says quietly.

"Does it hurt?" I ask as look his cheek.

He gets up and shows me his cheek. "It's not that bad! It feels funny but it's not that serious" He beams.

I touch his wound with my hand and he turns red.

"Elijah your face is red. Do you have a fever?" I ask with concern.

"W-what? No..." He says, this time his face is even more red.

"Maybe you need water" I say as I get up so that I can go to the lake and fetch him some water.

He grabs my hand. "W-wait. I think I feel better now" he says.

"Well I suppose your face is less red" I say as I sit back down next to him.

I take a deep breath and close my eyes as I say the words to the invisibility spell and hold my breath.

"Vivian! Where did you go?!" Elijah yells with fear.

I release my breath and say "I cant believe it...I actually did it. I was able to perform the invisibility spell!" i say in excitement.
