I already had my mother's things here, all in the same place as far as I can remember. She didn't change the house much or like to do any decorating. As I'd also brought some of my things and it took up my time tidying up, I've been doing that for almost the whole day.
It's finally Friday night. I will rest a bit. After that, I will call Roger, my agent. Maybe he'll have some news for me about a job. I need one.
I don't have many memories of here, but I find myself looking at the kitchen, where my mother used to stand with her old hobby and shabby sandals, making cereal with milk for me.
I picked up a photo of her that I found on the living room table earlier. She's smiling and holding me. We could have been happy if she hadn't let herself even worse after the divorce.
Strangely, I find myself wanting to eat and go straight to the kitchen to do so. I finish my cereal and wait for Roer to reply after I've sent the question, as he hasn't returned my calls. But he only replies that he still needs to confirm something tomorrow.
I decided I'd better go to bed. I was too tired. It was after nine at night. I know it's early, but not for a day like today. I need to rest.
...
I wake up to people arguing outside.
Despite being groggy, I stagger over to the window. I take a look around.
A woman wearing a pajamas gestures to a guy standing outside his car with a sound box. Even though he has his back to me. I notice he completely ignores her.
She gives up talking and goes towards her house. He dances on the side of the car that looks like a Ferrari and drinks something from a bottle.
What follows is the terror of anyone tired and wanting to sleep. He turns on the stereo inside the house next to mine, which is more like the other side of my bedroom. I find this strange because our homes are quite a distance apart.
Unfortunately, I know it's him, the guy who doesn't care about rules, his neighbor asking him to turn down the music, which is what that lady was trying to do. I saw him next door. I was worried that I would have this guy as a neighbor.
The worst thing was when he came in.
He turned the sound back on and was blasting my ears. I get up, put on my slippers, and head for the yard. It's only now that I realize he's not at home, more like at a pool house a few meters away from my house.
I shout:
"Hey! Hey!"
Seconds later, I see him coming out of the house. He is wearing gray sweatpants and no shirt. I look him up and down. The guy looks like a Greek god of beauty in human form.
