AT DENNY'S

Diana came into the cafe with Jaeden. Jaeden pulled the chair for her and sat down opposite to her. A waiter came them and asked them their order.

-A latte for me what would you like D?

-Umm..cold coffee shake with vanilla ice cream.

-Girls do love sweets and ice cream don't they?

-I know I do.

Diana drew in the coffee from the designed glass. When she looked up there was a thick line of cream on her upper lip. Her lower lip was rosy in contrast to the upper white line. Jaeden smiled. Diana without realizing what was on her own face was stunned to see a smile on Jaeden's face. His features were almost shining. He chuckled softly and raised his finger and brushed it on her upper lip looking deep into her eyes. Diana's eyes widened and her heart raced. What did he just do now?!

-There was a thick layer of cream on your upper lip so I thought I would just wipe it for you...I'm sorry if I offended you.

-No it's alright....

-I wanted to talk to you about something....

-Yeah.

-I thought again about our argument this morning and I am exetremely sorry...

-I told you it's okay you needn't apologize anymore.

-Don't interrupt me Diana,..but then I thought again. I wasn't angry because you were with him but it was because he was with you.

-I don't understand.

-I'm saying that maybe..maybe I..I like you..

Diana felt flushed on the inside and burning on the outside. She felt her heart pound loudly. Loud enough as if it was in her neck.

-Diana are you alright?

-Yeah umm.. so?

-So would you like to go out with me someday ?

-Yeah and I am not playing hard to get but we don't know each other that well do we?

-Yeah.

Diana's wrist watch beeped. It showed 8:30p.m.

-I must leave now. Today I promised to sleep over with my neighbouring friends. Jean and Bella. So I must go...

-Yeah sure. Bye. See you tomorrow.

-Bye...I will miss you.

Diana ran out of the café without looking back but smiling and being red. Jaeden remained seated clueless for a few seconds and when he realized what she had just said before leaving, he became vividly red. He covered his face smiling and reliving the moments ever since her entrance.

The next day both of them were unnaturally quiet and avoided each others eyes. Yet both of them were right there in the history lab with Mr.Olsen stealing glances. The silence made the atmosphere eerie for Mr.Olsen but it was pretty intense for Jaeden and Diana. Mr.Olsen suddenly rose up from the chair.

-I'm going to the restroom and will be right back. Don't stop the work.

Mr.Olsen left. Suddenly she felt hot and cold together.

-I missed you Diana much more than you did I guess.

-Jaeden...can we keep this a secret for a few days please.

-Yes only if you come with me tonight at 8.

-9 I have to give pills to my gran

- Will your parents not have any problem for going out late?

-Actually I live with my grandmother and aunt. Whatever I will be there. What should I wear?

-Anything. Casual of course. Where shall we meet ?

-In front of school?

-Yeah I'll be waiting.

They continued working and working. Hard work seemed delightful with having each other around....
