Chapter 4

Kurt stopped in front of a store. In front of the store's sidewalk, there were many snacks.

An old man standing at the counter smiled when Kurt's eyes fell on him.

"Hello, young man. What do you want to buy?" Fred greeted, he left the counter and went to the sidewalk.

Sonnental Village was rarely visited by outsiders, so he knew that the young man in front of his shop was an outsider.

From the style of his clothes, he looked like a foreigner. Maybe this man was a traveler who happened to take a route through this village street before heading to capital city.

Hauptsächlich is capital city of Strahlend Kingdom is a very beautiful and impressive city. Every year thousands of visitors and tourists from local and abroad would come to visit.

Kurt's weed his hand indicated he wasn't coming to buy something before he spoke. "I don't want to buy anything. I just want to ask about the route directions. Which is the fastest way to go to nearby city?"

"Oh, the closest city near this village is Hauptsächlich City. It is capital city of Strahlend. You just have to follow the main road from here to the archway of this village. From there you just have to go straight to the Hauptsächlich."

"But before you reach Hauptsächlich, you will have to go through several villages and forest areas. If you don't have important business to get to the city quickly, I suggest you to take another route after you pass the third village. Although it takes a lot of your time, it the most safest route to avoid danger around the forest area." The old man added.

Kurt nodded slightly at Fred's explanation while thinking about the suggestions that had been given. The forest area that Fred mentioned intrigued him a bit. "What's wrong with the forest along the route?"

"The forest name is Verfluchtes Land, the forest is like a den of bandits. Everyone who passes through the forest area will surely be robbed until they have nothing. The forest is known as a cursed land around this area." Fred replied while rubbing his chin.

"Ordinary people usually avoid that area. Only those with natural abilities dare to enter Verfluchtes Land." Kurt's face wrinkled as he thought about it.

He received too much information from the old man in front of him. He still couldn't get complete information about this world from System 07.

Humans who had the ability of nature and supernatural creatures. He needed a lot of information about them to complete his mission.

"Master, according to my calculations if you take another route besides Verfluchtes Land, you will take about a week to reach the Hauptsächlich." System 07 suddenly interrupted. Only Kurt could hear the robotic voice.

"A week is too long." Without realizing it Kurt muttered softly.

"Huh? What are you talking about, young man?" Fred asked when Kurt, who had only been silent listening to the conversation, suddenly spoke softly.

"No, I'm just saying it's too far to go to Hauptsächlich from here. It will take a lot of time for me to walk to the city."

"What?! You just want to walk to go there?!" Fred, the old man asked in disbelief. No human was capable to walk through the villages and forests to the capital city without danger. It was too risky.

"You can't go there by walking. Even if the other routes are not as dangerous as Verfluchtes Land, the other routes are still dangerous for mere mortals like us. And in addition, this area is currently unsafe for us to go anywhere alone." Fred added.

The young man's innocent face was stared by him worriedly. The young man in front of him looked like he never traveled out of his hometown.

Fred knew that some humans who did not have any ability to control the forces of nature usually avoided going out of their village area. This was because some areas of the human village would be guarded by guards from the palace. These guards usually people who had various powers of nature.

"If I don't go by walking then how am I going to arrive there? I have no vehicle or money." Kurt scratched the back of his head as he grinned at the old man. Kurt just realized that he was still in his pajamas. He had come into this world in the clothes he wore to sleep.

"It's difficult then." Fred hummed while rubbing his chin as he thought of it.

A few seconds later, Fred spoke again. "Tomorrow I need to go to Erbe Village. It's next to this village. Do you want to go to with me? It will save your time and energy a little bit."

"Okay, thank you. I will go with you tomorrow." Without thinking, Kurt immediately agreed. With Fred's help he would take the chance to learn more about the Strahlend Kingdom.

Throughout the day, Kurt accompanied Fred in his shop while waiting until Fred's work hours ended. While they were chatting, Fred invited him to spend the night at his house as there was no hotel or inn around the area.

Through his conversation with Fred, Kurt learnt that the Sonnental Village used to have many people. However, since the last few years, many people had to move to other nearby villages after black hailstones occurred.

Since then, every two to three months the hail would hit the village and destroyed all crops. However, the hailstones only damaged the villagers' crops and not other plants or the villagers' health.

"Master?" System 07 suddenly called him.

"Hmm."

"Master, I'm able to access the information now. I have updated the system for you. You can read and check everything related to your mission by activating the profile screen start from now." The system spoke cheerfully.

"How do I activate the profile screen?" Kurt asked in a whisper as he watched Fred who was talking with customers. Others couldn't hear System 07's voice in his mind but they could hear his voice.

"Master, you just have to think about the profile screen to open it. After that, the profile screen will appear automatically in front of you. You don't have to worry about the people around, they can't see the screen display." Kurt nodded in understanding as he activated the profile screen.

The golden transparent screen swiftly appeared in front of his eyes in the air. Kurt'a noticed the screen was slightly different from his memory.

"Master, if you want to open to another section, you can press on the screen or you can command the screen like how you're talking to me. This profile screen is a proxy system for your main data storage system."
