Lucas PoV (1)

My name is Lucas Harred. I was born into a poor family. I used to live with my parents in the countryside. Furthermore, I have one brother and one sister; we are three siblings.

Ever since I was young, being the middle child, I did not get any love or intimacy from my parents. My elder brother David was the most favored one since childhood. Even though we are both twins we look totally different, he inherited mother's beauty and father's toughness.

While I did not look like either of them. There were rumours that I was not my parent's biological child if not for being born by the same mother. Being the child of my parents did not bring me any happiness. I always hoped to defeat my brother and show my parents that I was better than David; that I could do much better than him. No matter how I worked or performed, they never gave me a glance.

I ate the worst food and wore the worst clothes yet did the most work. Although my family's conditions were poor, whatever my parents could afford was used up on my brother. I always envied him for the love he could get from our parents. All the toys he broke or clothes he tore became mine. I never wore new clothes, even on the New Year.

After 5 years, my younger sister was born. My family's condition improved by that time, I could occasionally experience happiness by eating sweet food purchased from the stalls with my pocket money. This money was earned from picking up luggage and carrying them to the vehicles and introducing tourists to many famous places.

My only source of happiness ended when my brother came to know about my work and that I could actually earn money, which I never gave to them. They decided to send me to the city for earning money and sending it home to nurture my elder brother and younger sister.

The day I arrived in the city I was famished, I did not eat or drink anything during the journey. When I arrived home yesterday; my luggage was already packed, and I was told to eat with the money I earned from carrying the luggage and interacting with tourists by introducing them to famous spots.

Just as I was lost in my thoughts, I bumped into someone. I subconsciously covered my head by crouching down ready to take beatings as that's how it has always been since my childhood. But only this time it was different, the person whom I bumped into roughly grabbed my arms which were thin because of improper intake of food. He asked me to do two things for him, and in return, he will provide for me for 5 years.

Despite knowing that I might have met someone with the wrong intentions, I agreed to do his work. He told me to follow a person named Stefan and win his trust, but before that, I needed to injure Stefan, so he could continue his work and improve his powers.

'Powers' the name itself managed to fascinate me. I asked him who he was and why did he choose me for this. He said he will tell me when the time comes. I asked him if I could also have powers. He denied it, he said you cannot practice it by yourself, you need an external aid to help you to cross the barriers of the human body and gain powers.

I agreed to help him, and he told me if I could successfully injure Stefan, then he will take me as his disciple/ student and help me gain powers. He said he himself will guide me on my magic path and warned me not to tell anyone about this, especially Stefan, as he was my road to gaining powers.
