Ch -3 What are you?

In a dilapidated room, which consisted only of a table, a chair, a small window for ventilation, and a bed where lay a young man with long white hair which appeared to be silky and smooth. His facial features were small and delicate but with a hint of masculinity. If observed carefully, this young man closely resembled Stefan. Except for the hair which was white, it was as if he was Stefan himself.

After about 15 minutes, the sleeping young man's brows furrowed, and he woke up instantly. This young man was Stefan Raynott. He looked around alertly at his surroundings; his body tensing subconsciously due to being in an unfamiliar environment. He did not know where he was.

''Is anyone there?'' He asked nervously.

Nobody replied to him.

''Is anyone there? Can you tell me where is this?'' He shouted again.

'HELLO, HOST!!' This time, a voice replied to him.

''Who are you?'' asked Stefan.

As he looked around himself, he saw there was no one present around him. 'Then where did the voice come from?' He thought to himself.

''I am 'The Privilege System'. I was sent here to help you.'' The system replied.

''But Why? How did I end up here? Where is this? And what is a SYSTEM? This is not my body? I remember my hand had burn marks because I burned myself accidentally in my childhood.'' Stefan observed his hand as he asked a series of questions to the system.

''Calm down, Host! Let me solve your doubt's bit by bit. I am a System. Systems are created by gods or arch-wizards to help the wounded and wronged souls. Let me give you an e.g.; Maybe normally someone needs 10 years to learn the basics of magic, but with the system, they can kill some weak monsters (absorb their life force aka XP with the system) and instantly learn any skill.''

''And to clear your confusion, you are in an urban-fantasy world. Here, there are magicians and swordsmen, but they hardly ever appear in front of the public. They all work in secret to eliminate the enemies or more specifically monsters that appear through the holes. A person can only become either a magician or a swordsman throughout their lifetime. But let me tell you, host ,most people here are ordinary people and there are mercenary units that are specially trained to kill low-level monsters. Ordinary people here know the presence of holes. These holes are divided according to the levels. Every time a hole appears, it presents itself in a particular colour .

For the people of this place, it is common for them to deal with a hole representing a level of E and F. But it is slightly difficult to deal with the Level D hole. As that is the limit for them. The higher-ups deal with the level representing more danger, i.e. S, A, B, C. Usually, both the magicians and the swordsmen deal with the holes by forming a team. So far the S level has appeared 5 times and each time it had brought great destruction upon humanity.

''But why don't the higher-ups clear the lower levels also?'' asked Stefan in confusion.

''Because like this, ordinary people get a chance to grow and surpass the limits of the human body. Every 6 months, the higher-ups conduct a competition that is disguised as normal sparring. However, only the top twenty people who win and defeat the others know that. Then they are taken away by the higher-ups to go through strict training. After some years they operate and work for the higher-ups by remaining low-key among the ordinary people."
