Chapter 16 - Fireworks Festival

C H A P T E R 16 – Fireworks Festival

“How do I look?” Alice whirled slowly. She wore a light make-up and bun her hair. She wore a blue kimono with flower patterns and its black Datejime neatly tied. The boys were staring at him especially Cheshire, who was slightly blushing and grinned at her.

“You’re beautiful,

Alice-chan!” He commented. As for the bulter, Laurence, his rabbit ears were twitching, thinking there was a lacking.

“My lady, could you please smile?” Alice slightly smiled.

“You’re look more beautiful. But you must start practicing how to smile, my lady”

“I understand.”

Alice gazed at Tada that was still looking at her. She then smiled making Tada looked away. It was silently killed him in his inside.

After judging how Alice look, she was ready to go to the Fireworks Festival. Tada accompanied her so that she will not get lost. The two didn’t even speak to each other until,

“Alice, you’re cute in kimono” Tada looked away, hiding his pink cheeks. Alice looked at him and blushed too. She couldn’t stop smiling of his complement.

“Thank you about that, Tada” The two went silent again. It was kind of awkward that they didn’t have any topics to share. Finally, the two stopped at the destination. Alice sat on the bench and Tada talked,

“I’ll be back at 9. Got to go now” Tada turned away and started to walk back home but then, he froze when he heard Alice’s news.

“Tada, I’m going to confess to Kei.” That was a shocking one for Tada. He didn’t mind it but his felt a little pain in his heart again.

“Well, good luck for that” He commented and continued to walk. When he was meters away from her, he then mumbled.

“Why do I feel pain? I should be proud of her.”

TIMESKIP

Tada and Cheshire were underage so they drunk some orange juice and Laurence joined them but just formally sat with them on the dining room. Cheshire was so down after Tada told him that Alice is going to confess to Hirose and that made him devastated.

“I’m such a coward, Tada-san” He deeply sighed while putting his drink down.

“If only I would tell her my feelings elaborately, she would seriously understand how I feel and straightly reject me.” He explained,

Tada didn’t know why he drink so much orange juice too. Was it because the orange juice tastes good or was it because he felt something heavy in his heart?

“Lucky Alice-chan. How about you, Tada-san? Have you ever met a woman you like?” Tada weakly laughed at Cheshire’s question.

“No, not yet” While laughing, a sudden vision of Alice’s face appeared on his mind.

“How about you, Laurence?” Tada asked.

“Mehh, that guy? Pfft. He doesn’t have a love life” the cat showed his smug smile. Laurence smiled at Cheshire and brushed off his hair. He then lied his chin on his palm and seriously stared at the cat.

“You have mistaken, Mister. I do have a love life” His stared made Cheshire froze like he saw an angry devil inside of his two eyes.

“O-oh. Is that so? Then, tell us”

“First, give me orange juice”

Tada stood up to get a glass and poured some orange juice. He then served it and the butler took a first sip and lowered the glass.

“Back so many years ago, I was a protector of Tada Natsume’s great grandmother.”

“…”

“Wait, how old are you?” Tada straightly asked. “I apologize, Tada-san. I’m afraid I cannot tell you” He chuckled and continued his story.

“Your great grandmother was very, very kind person I’d ever met. She always baked cookies and served it to me with a smile. She was an independent person that’s why I liked her.”

“But then, I thought we will be together. I was wrong. From the start, she fell in love to a man and that was her 3rdcousin.” He sighed and drunk the orange juice.

“That’s …. family stroke” Cheshire sweat dropped.

“Exactly, it is. The curse was finally broken and she made a wish to have a peaceful life with her

lover. That was when the time I decided to use my ability. I erased her memories

with me then I left her without telling her I loved her.”

He ended his story and deeply sighed for remembering his past. He then, poured an orange juice and straightly drunk it like a drunkard.

“That was a painful story” Cheshire commented.

“A good advice, Cheshire. You must confess to her and face the rejection.”

“All right. Thank you about that, Mr. Nivens McTwisp”

Suddenly, Tada’s phone rang and saw a text message from Hirose. He read,

[Alice, I’m sorry if I’m late. I’ll be there 5 minutes.]

Tada looked at the time and saw it was 8:40. He stood up and quickly ran to go to catch Alice.

“Damn that guy” He was so upset for texting that he was going to be late and Alice just waited for him three hours straight.

“She might be starving right now” He worriedly said.

He ran as fast as he can and finally reached the destination. He panted and saw Alice stood up from the bench and shocked. Hirose was arrived so late and she looked down.

“You’re late” “I’m sorry about that, Alice.” He scratched his nape but still, Alice smiled at him.

“It’s okay. At least you’re here. We still have time. How about let’s-”

“Alice, sorry. I’m kind of busy right now.”

“What busy?”

“I-it’s complicated. I just came here to see you. That’s all” Hirose’s phone rang suddenly and read a text. He looked at Alice with a worried face and said,

“I have to go now, Alice”

“W-wait!” Alice quickly grabbed his shirt. Not wanting to let him go.

“Alice?”

“I-I” Her hands were trembling and took a deep breath.

“I like you, Kei”

Tada witnessed the incident. Hearing Alice’s ‘I like you’ made his heart in pain again. A gloomy Tada still watching them because he felt something bad will happen to Alice.
