If it were a movie played at high speed, it would be funny. The nanny arrived, he grabbed the baby basket backwards, placed it on the front seat of the car and the nanny in the back, arranging everything. He didn't even ask the nanny's name or age and forgot to see his own daughter's documents. He left with the car and stopped at the first spot, the pharmacy. There were so many items that he left full of bags, helped by an assistant.
He then stopped at a clothing store and the saleswoman took advantage of the first-time father and filled him with clothes that Gabriela might never use, and once again he left loaded with bags. He continued his pilgrimage, forgetting that the baby and the nanny were in the car, alone, hot and hungry, and the nanny had no way to prepare a bottle, and that's where the crying came from.
When he left the third store, he didn't take anything, went to deliver it home and got into the car in a hurry, and there was the annoying scream again.
"Make her stop screaming!"
"It's your fault, you forgot there's no way to make a bottle here and she has to eat every three hours."
"Okay, okay, let's go home."
During the drive home, the baby quieted down with the movement of the car, but when they entered the building, went up the elevator and walked down the hallway, she was screaming. Miguel had difficulty even opening the door, the key fell twice, and when he managed to get through, the nanny put the baby basket in her arms and went straight to the kitchen to make the bottle.
He didn't know what to do with the basket and took it to the guest room. There, he looked at that judged and wet little face with that wide-open mouth screaming and decided to pick her up to test if she would stop crying.
He held her little body with both hands and kept it away from his body, looking at her, and she looked at him and for a moment stopped crying, but it was only a moment. Soon the intercom rang and the complaint began. The neighbor complained about the noise because he needed to sleep.
Luckily, the nanny arrived soon with the bottle and, taking the baby from the clumsy father's hands, sat on the bed and shut the girl's bawling with the bottle nipple.
"How can something so small make such a racket?"
"It's normal for a baby and you'll have to find another nanny, one alone won't be enough, you have to take her to a pediatrician and see if she has any health problems."
"She already came with a health certificate."
"And how is her vaccination record?"
"Vaccine?" – he started to get tired of so many questions he couldn't answer and made an excuse – "I'm going to get the rest of the things in the car."
He went down, picked up some of the things and put them in the elevator, holding the door. He made three more trips until he managed to carry everything and there was almost no space in the elevator for him to enter. He went up and made more trips to take everything to the apartment and left everything in the living room.
He remembered that they had to eat too and called the restaurant he always ordered food from and asked for a double portion of the chef's dish, forgetting to ask the nanny what she would like to eat. He went to his room, took a shower and almost forgot there was another person in the house. He put on a sweatshirt with a tank top and went to receive the food.
He prepared everything on the table and waited, but the nanny didn't appear and he went to the room to call her, found the two sleeping in the immense double bed. He thought it best to let them sleep and went to dinner alone, as always. He ate, cleaned everything up and went to sleep, smiling for having managed to adjust everything to his satisfaction.
Sweet illusion, a newborn father, sleeping at night.
"What the hell are these noises, you can't sleep peacefully anymore."
He got up, splashed water on his face and saw that the nanny was in the kitchen, making the bottle for the child who was screaming in the room, the intercom was ringing, along with the doorbell. He didn't know what to do first and decided to pick up the baby. He picked her up and put her in his arm, reasoned that if she quieted down with the bottle nipple if he put a pacifier in her mouth, as he couldn't find one, he put his finger in and the child sucked and shut her mouth.
Instantly, the doorbell and the intercom stopped ringing, whoever was at the door must have heard that the child stopped crying and the nanny answered the intercom. Miguel went to the kitchen and the nanny approached with the wood and replaced his finger with it.
"Now hold the bottle and then don't forget to burp her. I'm going to take advantage to sleep a little." – she finished speaking, running to the room.
"Wait, I'm the one who has to sleep... ouch... what do I do with you, little thing?"
The baby nursed, he put her on his shoulder and she made a little noise and fell asleep.
"Great, now let's lie down and try to sleep the rest of the night."
When he laid her down on his bed, she complained and seemed like she was going to start bawling and he picked her up again and ended up falling asleep with her in his arms, half sitting, half sleeping and that's how he woke up, with the baby starting a new bawling, already in the morning.
