The Wilderness

I got back up on the horse, hiding my money in my bag. I threw both bags on my shoulder and shouted, "Hya!" and we rode into the forest. We stopped by the river and we found Melissa and Rei Xue there.

"Melissa, go with Rei Xue and collect sticks and logs to make a fire. It's too dangerous to continue to travel at night. We'll sleep here. If I don't come back within hour, make a tent and sleep in it without me."

They left and so did I. I went to collect sticks, twigs, vines, leaves and berries.

I returned in 30 minutes and Meli and Rei Xue were building a fire.

"Lisa!" Melissa screamed and wrapped me in her arms.

After a few seconds, I pushed her off gently saying, "The fire won't light itself."

She smiled and nodded.

"Rei Xue light the fire, Melissa help me with the shelter."

Me and Melissa worked quickly yet carefully and it took an hour to build our spacious tent. Meanwhile, after Rei Xue finished the fire, she made us food. We had some food at our old palace so ahe brought all the food there. We had a pancake with wild berries and some sticky sap. They didn't call it a pancake though, they called it a scone. We ate until full and went to sleep with weapons by our side.

When I woke up, one of our horses were gone! "Melissa! Rei Xue! Wake up! Rei Xue your horse is gone!"

"WHAT?! My... My... My... Horse? Píngguo... Píngguo!" Rei Xue sobbed.

"Rei Xue, please don't cry." Melissa softly said.

"Guys we need to get going! Everyone get on my horse and Rei Xue will take us to a peaceful village. Right, Rei Xue?" I asked hopefully.

"Okay" she snivelled. We mounted the house, Rei Xue in front, Melissa in the middle and me behind. We rode through the forest and passed many trees. After 2 hours, we finally went into a village and it looked nice. People were very friendly and kind.

"We'll be staying here," Rei Xue said, "This is our new home."

We went into another alleyway and there was a beautiful house.

"Can we purchase this house immediately?" I asked Rei Xue.

"It's already ours, my Lady."

"How?" Melissa asked.

"Well, 2 years ago you wanted to leave the Shanghou Dynasty. So you sent me out to look for a place to live and here it is, my Lady."

"Let's go then." I said. We all got of the horse and Rei Xue took it to a stable. We went inside our house and it was beautiful. Me and Melissa unpacked whilst Rei Xue went to the market to buy food.

"Melissa we need to talk."

"Okay, I'm coming."

We sat in my room, on my bed.

"We need a new identity. I will be a young man, you will be my sister. My name is Ziye Kuro. Your name is Misaki Kuro. I'll use binders and wear male clothes. When Rei comes back, tell her our new identities. Her name will be Rui Xie."

"Em. Now go buy us some clothes!"

"Yeah, go tidy up the rest of the stuff."
