I was silent for a moment. Would I? Obviously no!
"Maybe I'll skip that part." I said while giving out a low laugh. He continued to smile at me and spoke, "You know, one thing I learned from this life is that, no matter how much you try to escape the memories of the past, it will still reveal itself one way or another. Do you know what you should do in order to forget it?"
"Face it?" I replied cluelessly, and he chuckled at my response.
"Sure, but another way to deal with it, is to continue living your life and building more memories to replace the ones that scar you." He touched the back of my hand and asked, "Tell me, what would you choose, to live in the present or the past?" I was bewildered by everything that he said, he was so weird!
But what would I choose?
"I'm very much happy right now, I have a loving family, what more could I ask? " I smiled while thinking about Cain and Alex.
"Good, and I hope that will never change." He stood up as he spoke and patted my hand. "I'll be taking my leave now, thank you for inviting me in." He said with a smile, and started walking towards the door with heavy steps.
I followed his suit ang guided him to the door, but before he fully got out, he turned around and slowly took out a piece of folded paper in his pocket and placed it on the table. "This is where he is buried." he said and proceeded to walk.
"Cedric, you bastard! Now I know why you sent me here." I heard him curse as I closed the door.
...
I looked at the clock and saw that it was almost three. I picked the old box that I left on the table and went upstairs.
God! I forgot that I was just wearing a robe, how embarrassing! I quickly changed my clothes and placed the box inside the cabinet.
*Ring-ring* my phone suddenly rang and saw that it was Cassie who was calling, she was Alex's teacher. I picked it up and asked her why she called.
"Sir! Your son. He started crying, he's calling out your name. We did everything we could to calm him down but he wouldn't stop and keeps repeating that he needs to see you." Cassie said with a panicked voice.
"Okay, okay, tell him I'm coming." I immediately put the phone down and ran downstairs to the garage.
I started the car and drove. It took me fifteen minutes to arrive.
I saw Alex and his teacher in the front gate.
When Alex saw me walking towards him, he cried harder, he was holding his hand up to me and I instantly hugged him.
"Shhh, it's okay, I'm here. Baby, momma's here," he didn't say anything ang just buried his head in my chest. I looked up at Cassie and asked, "Why did he cry, did someone hurt him?"
"Sir, we also don't know, actually at lunch he was taken to the nurse because he started getting pale, so we gave him some water and let him rest. He was sleeping soundly, then he woke up and suddenly started shouting."
What?!
"He was sick?! Why didn't someone contact me?" I was now angry, why didn't they gave me a call or a text!
"Sorry sir. Our nurse said that he was fine and just really needed a quick rest, so we didn't really see the need." What fucked up logic was that?!
I looked at her and saw that she was nervous, "I'll let this go, but next time tell me right away when something like this happens." I told her, and she nodded her head frantically.
"Let's go love." I murmured to Alex and picked him up. I slowly put him in the front passenger seat.
When I got inside, he was still not talking. He was just staring blankly at something. I was worried, I never saw Alex like this.
"Hey... baby, please tell momma what happened." I said to him in a soothing tone and caressed his cheeks, but he still didn't move.
I decided that I'll just ask him once he fully calms down. I started the car and carefully drove to our house.
When we arrived, Alex was sleeping. I didn't wake him up and just carried him to the house.
I put him in his bed and changed his clothes. After I finished, I sat on the floor and rested my head on the edge of the bed, and looked at Alex's sleeping figure.
What happened to him?
