I'm not a monster

Best way to wake up? A nice, slow and comfortable bed. You wake up naturally without any distractions and you feel nice and well rested. I wish. But I'm cursed to never feel well rested. Oh. And I've just been body slammed by Solas.

"Why did you do that"

I said, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.

"I get here on time and you're sleeping when I get there. That's rude"

He said while laughing.

"You're late"

"No I'm not"

I sighed and stood up, my legs shaking slightly. But I guess it's time to fight now. Me, Solas and Vulpes always meet once every week to fight and train together.

Solas raised his arms and yelled.

"Come at me!"

I walked slowly, stumbling and tripping over myself. I finally got in front of him and raised my arm into the air. A massive beam of golden light burst out of my hand and formed into a hammer bigger than a dragon. This is construct, a skill that lets me create this weird gold stuff. It has no weight unless I want it to and it takes up my stamina, sanity and life force in that order.

I swung the hammer down and hit Solas. A shockwave burst out from underneath. I felt a bit of resistance underneath followed by a red glow. The hammer shot upward with a bang and Solas leaped towards me, that same red glow on his fists. I bent backwards and grabbed his leg. I spun his head to the floor and was about to drop my elbow straight down on his crotch. A gold liquid leaked out of my elbow and turned into a heavy plate. Just before I was about to kick him out of the gene pool, I felt a murderous intent towards me. The plate melted and covered my arm with a thinner film and a thin cream coloured needle drilled into it and pushing me back slightly.

"Now now Clams, calm down"

A voice said.

"But...-"

I tried to say.

"No, stop talking"

He interupted.

After he finished speaking, he lowered himself to the ground. It was the final member of the thirtieth generation, Vulpes. He looked like a regular person for the most part, but had fur on his body and a large bushy tail. He began to talk with Solas. While they were talking, I saw the sky crack. And crack further. And then a huge hole burst out of the sky yet made no noise. Solas and Vulpes were looking away from it so they didn't see it. I saw a large, grey and cracked hand reach out and pull on the edges of the hole. The hand pulled its body out. A large statue that looked like it was made out of stone. It was missing fragments of its fingers and it made a low humming sound that I could barely hear over the other two. It reached out and was about to grab the other two before I jumped and pushed them out of the way. Unfortunately, its hand was bigger than I had anticipated and still grabbed all of us.

And then I passed out.

I woke up to a bright forest and a very unstable cart that I was tied up in. The cart was being ridden by two people. One brown haired man in the front and sitting to the side of me, an extravagantly dressed person in a bright white suit with a black tie whose face was obscured by a white hat that covered their dark red hair.

I sat up and looked around. A leaf hit me in the face and I realised I had forgotten something of dire importance. My mask. A mask of white with gold outlines. I broke the ropes on my hands and frantically looked around.

"Looking for somethin' ?"

The suited figure said.

They stood up, revealing their true height in the process. They looked like a twelve year old. Or they could've been a dwarf or gnome. But they looked like a human. Maybe a demihuman. From their voice, they sounded like a girl. She reached out her hand and passed me my mask. I scrambled to put it on and she said.

"I understand ya' got some cool eyes but, why the mask"

"What do you mean?"

I asked.

"Those weird eyes of your's"

She answered.

I completely forgot about my eyes. I always said they were a birth defect. That stopped people from asking further.

"Doesn't matter, who are you? Why was I tied up?"

"Calm down. I'm citrus, leader of the Acido mob and you just appeared in the road so we tied ya' up and threw you in the cart"

"How are you a mob boss? You're twelve st-"

"I Am Twenty Three!"

She yelled.

Hard to believe but I didn't feel like questioning it anymore. Whenever I tried to think about how strange this was, I felt like I was being choked before the thought could even begin.

I stayed silent for the rest of the time I was in the cart. We began to approach a large wall of stone. There was a large wooden sign on the gate that said 'Welcome to wortse'. A man in armour walked up to the cart and began to talk to the driver. Then he began shouting at the driver and drew his sword. Citrus tilted her head and looked at the guard. He looked back at her, took a step back and opened the gates. It seemed like Citrus had some influence here. As we entered the city, I finally got a good look at this city. A couple houses, a bar and a huge golden casino. We stopped at a bar with a large neon sign that said "Zeus bar". I felt a bit confused as, as far as I was aware, we were in another world and no matter how widespread a business is it wouldn't go that far. Citrus opened the door and gestured for me to follow. We entered the bar and immediately I smelt the faint yet recognisable scent of sunlight that followed Solas around. I looked at the bar and saw Solas shouting at the bartender for, yet again, not being allowed to buy a drink.

"Solas!"

I shouted over him.

He turned to me and stopped shouting

"Hey, you found Vulpes yet?"

"No I just woke up"

I said

He laughed.

"Of couse you were sleeping. Just bring him back here if you do. I've business with this bartender"

He went back to having a screaming match with the bartender. I looked back at citrus who had just left the manager's room with a comically large bag of money.

"What was that?"

I asked.

"Getting some money"

She answered.

"Did you at least get it legally?"

I added.

"Not one bit. People are worth way more than you'd believe"

She finished.

That isn't something you should say. It's terrifying even, it's just that her voice was so high pitched that something with horrific connotations sounds like she's just gotten an allowance.

She gestured for me to follow her again. I got back into the cart and we drove off. We arrived at the solid gold casino and walked in. Citrus walked up to one of the may black suited people at the door and whispered in his ear. After having to get him to bend down.

He walked over to a small trapdoor on the floor and opened it for us as we climbed down. The room we walked into was dark and was illuminated only by dim candles. There was a large stage at the front with a spotlight on it and a tray of rabbit masks and ears in front of us.

"Take one and sit down"

Citrus whispered.

"What is this?"

I asked quietly.

"An auction"

She answered.

"Legal?"

I added.

She shook her head. Of course. I'm starting to get a feel for how this girl works. She wasn't kidding when she said she was a mob boss. She said she sold people as well. Were they going to be in this auction?

She put on the mask and ears and I reluctantly put on the ears and followed her. She sat down at the front row and I sat down next to her. The curtains opened and a cloaked figure walked onto the stage. He was wearing a glowing purple skull on his neck. Typical necromancer. Trying to show off how cool he is by carrying around a skull. While necromancy is banned nearly everywhere, some people think it's cool to break the law without any style.

The figure pulled out a pocket watch with the symbol of the one of who stares back on it. A scratched out eye.

"This"

He began

"Is a divine armament made by a god which will make you invisible"

He held out the watch and but he didn't turn invisible? Everybody else seemed to think otherwise. The crowd was a cacophony of oohs and ahs and some conversations. A few bids were made by the other attendees but nothing in the price range I was expecting from criminals. Shouldn't there be the super rich here? They're criminals usually. The next item is what really caught my eye.

"This is a ring that was blessed by the pope of the lamb. Deity of purity. It will remove any curse placed on you. And will guarantee happiness in marriage"

He shouted.

I elbowed Citrus

"How much do you have?"

"A couple million, why?"

She answered.

It turns out she was the super rich criminal.

"I don't care if you have to use it all, get that ring"

I said.

"Why? Are you already going to propo-"

She tried to say.

"Your a thousand years too young to say that."

I snapped.

"I'm not that young, wait, how old are you?"

She asked.

"One thousand and thirty"

I said.

She stared in disbelief for a second before quickly returning to her senses and saying

"You seem interesting so, just this once, I'll buy it for you"

I nodded as she raised her hand and yelled out

"Ten thousand"

Silence... during our conversation, everybody had evacuated from the underground auction house. Even the necromancer. He left the ring so I leapt onto the stage and was about to grab the ring when a sword made of water flew past my head. I dodged but it still nearly hit me. The sword began to spin faster than I could see and returned to the owner like a boomerang. I looked to where the sword went but nobody was there but a puddle. That was when I felt an armoured fist hit the back of my neck. I stumbled forward and turned around to see a person in full blue and gold armour.

"Aw, the neck chop didn't knock you out. But captain said it would"

He mumbled to himself. His voice was quite high pitched.

He looked up at me. I looked at citrus who punched the air. Like that would do anything. Near immediately after that thought entered my head, a fist imprint appeared on the mans cheek and he was sent flying back. That, was an interesting skill. I made sure to remember to ask about it when I got back.

"Name and occupation"

I shouted to the crater in the wall.

He managed to free himself from the crater and stood on the opposite side of the stage.

"Hydros, royal guard of king Walter. Now you"

He shouted.

"Clams, magic engineer"

I said.

"Now we're done with the formalities, I'm going to kill you now. K"

He yelled before running at me with his sword drawn.

I looked over to Citrus who had began leaving the moment he had mentioned the royal guards. He hit my hand with the sword and I felt the flesh twist. Construct shot out from my hand and turned into a whip. I swung it at him. He tried to block with his sword but the whip went through. The sword really was just water. The tip hit him and he winced in pain before swiftly recovering and throwing his sword at me. It hit me in the chest and I was sent flying back. I crashed into the pedestal the ring was stood on and it fell to the floor next to me. I quickly put it on.

"Give up now and the saviour might have mercy on your soul in the afterlife"

He said.

Slowly, I stood up. I pulled the sword out of my chest and threw it to the ground. My leg fell slightly.

He walked up to me and put his hand on my shoulder.

"Don't worry, it's a very human thing to die"

He moved his hand from my shoulder to the wound on my chest. As his hand finally rested on the large hole that led into my insides, they began moving. Flowing like a thick, viscous liquid. The wound closed up with his hand inside.

"What the-"

He shouted.

What a beautiful feeling, my curse was gone. The curse to never feel well rested was gone. I felt like I was on top of the world even more than I ever was before. I was finally perfect.

He tried to pull his hand out but the flesh had already gealed and trapped it inside.

"Having some trouble?"

I giggled.

As he continued to struggle, I kicked him in the chest and he fell to the floor with his hand finally free. I walked towards him.

"What are you?"

He screamed.

"I. Am. Perfect"

I laughed.

His foot launched upward and struck me in the hand, but it didn't do much. I took a step to the side and walked past him. In that second, thousands of razor sharp strings that before now, had been carefully hidden in the corners of our vision revealed themselves and caused a flurry of deep cuts in his skin.

But at that moment, I realised what that kick in the hand was meant to do. The ring crumbled to pieces.

"Went a bit far there, didn't I"

I laughed, already feeling my consciousness fading.

"You're a monster!"

He shouted with his last burst of energy.

As his eyelids closed slowly, I sat down next to him and as I fell asleep I said under my breath

"I'm not a monster you know"

I'm a god

And that's

Just...

Perfect
