Episode 5

Lucas Narrating

I was sitting on the bed when someone knocked on my door. I opened it to find Miguel standing there, only wearing shorts. Unfortunately, I started drooling again. His six-pack always amazed me, swept me off my feet, or theoretically speaking, into the clouds.

"Lucas, Lucas." Once again, Miguel snapped his fingers in front of my face.

"Sorry, I was just thinking about some things that have happened to me lately," I said, trying to change the subject.

"I went down to the pool and didn't see you there," he said, entering my room.

I closed the door behind me, and Miguel sat down on my bed.

"I'm just going to grab my swim trunks," I said, heading towards my wardrobe.

"So, Lucas, have you brought any girls to play on this bed yet?" he asked, facing me.

"I just got here; I haven't even had time to date," I said, searching for my shorts.

"I already did it here with Katarina, and it was great," he said, getting closer.

Miguel pulled me by my shirt and threw me on the bed, climbing on top of me. His forehead was pressed against mine, and I could feel his breath, the taste of his lips, even though he hadn't kissed me yet.

"Mi...Mi... Miguel, what are you doing?" I asked, trying to free myself from his grip.

Miguel remained on top of me without saying a word. I looked into his blue eyes, and a wave of good feelings washed over me. I didn't want to stop looking at him. Suddenly, Miguel got up.

"I knew it, I knew it," he said, pacing back and forth across the room.

"You knew what, Miguel?" I asked, staring at him.

"I knew you were gay," he said, his gaze completely changing.

I was scared; I didn't want anyone to know about my sexuality just yet.

"Now I got you. I'm going to tell everyone in this house what you really are, and maybe then my dad will kick you out," he said as he left the room, slamming the door shut.

I grabbed my shorts, went down to the pool, and stayed there alone. At lunchtime, Lurdinha called me. I changed clothes and headed to the table where everyone was already gathered. Miguel stared at me with a look that screamed, "This is your end." I sat down at the table and started eating.

"Everyone, I need your attention," I said, making everyone look at me.

"Go ahead, son, what happened?" asked my worried mother.

"I... I'm gay," I said, closing my eyes.

"Son, I already knew, and I accept you just the way you are," said my mother, feeding little Clarice, who had no idea what was going on.

"We have nothing against homosexuals. This family was built on acceptance," said Mr. Rodrigues.

"I'm glad you opened up to us," added Mrs. Rodrigues.

"No, no way, this is not happening," Miguel said, rising from his chair and facing me.

"I'm sorry, Miguel, but your attempts to push me out aren't working," I said, looking at him.

"No one is going to kick you out, Lucas. This house is mine, and I decide who can enter or leave," Mr. Rodrigues said, glaring at Miguel with anger.

"Dad, they're poor," Miguel said, pointing at me and my mother at the same time.

"If you don't learn to accept other people's social class, I'll send you to military school to get some sense slapped into your thick skull," Mr. Rodrigues said, still glaring at Miguel.

Miguel got up and stormed up the stairs.

"Don't mind Miguel, Lucas. He's just angry... because you're this way," he said, looking at me.

"It's alright, Mr. Gustavo, he'll have to accept it eventually," I said, going back to my food.

Mr. Rodrigues nodded in agreement, and we continued eating.
