Lucas Narrating

Left the Rodrigues' house and we headed to a small square nearby to look for the ice cream shop, which took us a long time to find. We had our ice cream and returned home. Miguel stared at me the entire way, which I found strange but decided to ignore. We arrived home, I went in and my mother was on the couch with Clarice and the Rodriguez couple.

"How was the outing, Lucas?" Mr. Rodrigues asked, getting up from the couch.

"It was great, Mr. Gustavo," I replied, heading up to my room.

I entered the room, changed clothes, and went to the kitchen.

"Lurdinha, do you have something for me to eat? I'm a little hungry," I said, rubbing my belly.

"There's a cake I just made in the fridge, Mr. Lucas," she said, pointing to the fridge.

"Just Lucas, please, Lurdinha," I said, heading towards the fridge.

I opened it, cut a slice of cake, put it on a plate, and sat at the table in the kitchen.

"Lurdinha, has Miguel always been this annoying?" I asked, putting a piece of cake in my mouth.

"Look, Lucas, Mr. Miguel has always been very spoiled by his parents, and that's why he thinks other people won't treat him well. But deep down, he is a great person," she said, chopping some vegetables on the counter.

"I think he should accept people as they are, regardless of social classes or sexuality," I said, putting another piece of cake in my mouth.

"Try to understand, Mr. Miguel is a good person as I said, but it takes him a short time to accept people from other social classes. It was the same with me, it took him years to accept my true lifestyle," she said, putting the chopped vegetables in the pot.

"Still, I didn't really like him, I found him very stuck-up," I said, finishing the cake.

"Then, does that mean you find me stuck-up?" Miguel said, appearing in the kitchen.

"Uh... No, not at all," I stuttered.

"Hi, Lurdinha, how are you?" he said, looking at Lurdinha.

"I'm doing great, Mr. Miguel," she said, heading to the small pantry.

Miguel walked to the table and sat next to me.

"It's rude to eavesdrop on other people's conversations," I said, glaring at the boy next to me.

"I wasn't eavesdropping, I just arrived," he said, grabbing a piece of cake from the fridge.

He sat next to me again and started eating.

"I'm sorry if I said I found you stuck-up," I said, not looking at him.

He placed his hand on my chin and lifted it gently.

"It's okay, you just said what you think of me, but I can prove you wrong," he said, getting up from the table and putting the plate in the sink.

"And how are you going to prove me wrong?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Wait and see," he said, now leaving the kitchen.

I knew Miguel wanted to kick me out of his parents' house, but something tells me I should get closer to him. Something tells me something good will happen. I left the kitchen and was stopped in the living room by Mr. Gustavo.

"Lucas, the sun is great, why don't you invite Miguel to join you for a swim in the pool?" he said, waiting for my response.

"I'll go ask him," I said, walking towards the stairs.

I went up the stairs and knocked on the door next to my room. I was very afraid of what I was about to do, afraid of his response, with all my fears holding me back. The door opened, revealing Miguel only in his underwear. Seeing his body for the first time left me motionless, everything seemed to disappear - my organs, my breathing. I started sweating and getting nervous.

"Lucas, Lucas," he said, snapping his fingers in front of my face.

"Hi," I said, snapping out of my trance.

"You're drooling, did you like what you saw?" he said, raising his eyebrows.

I wiped the corner of my mouth and realized I was indeed drooling. I decided to play it off and make up an excuse.

"I wasn't drooling, um... I was eating a filled sweet in the kitchen and ended up getting my mouth dirty" I said, wiping the remaining drool from the corner of my mouth.

"I see, that sweet" he said, suspiciously.

"I came to invite you to take a swim with me in the pool, because the sun is really nice" I said, feeling relieved.

"Okay, if you want to go down first, I'll just put on some swimming trunks" he said, closing the door.

I went to my room and put on some swimming trunks, then sat on the bed.
