Chapter 03 || Chocolate Cake
Waking up to a traumatic dream, Chifuyu surprises her with a great treat in school.

I was walking to my seat to work on my school work until someone poked me from behind.
Younger Y/n
I'm sorry. Do you need something?
Bully 1
Yeah. I need you to get out of this school now!
He laughed so hard that he almost fell out of his seat.
Younger Y/n
That's not nice.
Younger Y/n
I'll tell the teacher!
I stomped my way to the teacher's desk to tell her what happened.
Younger Y/n
Teacher. That kid over there poked me in the back just to tell me to leave this school and that I suck.
She fixed her glasses and said,
Y/n's 2nd Grade teacher
So? Do I care?
Y/n's 2nd Grade teacher
Or do you want another deduction from your grade?
Y/n's 2nd Grade teacher
Then go back to your seat, now!
I went back to my seat, in shame because I embarrassed myself again.
I was just writing my notes and the same kid threw a paper ball at me.
Bully 1
Hahah! You're so stupid!
Younger Y/n
Stop that . . . you're being mean.
I was about to cry until he wrote something on my uniform with his pencil.
Bully 1
And what if I don't? Bleh!
Outside, when I was sitting alone at the swing, the boy punched me at the arm.
That day, I went back home with my dad. I took off my school uniform at home and dressed in pajamas. In a week, my school uniform would be washed for Monday so my mom saw the writings.
Younger Mrs. L/n
Sweetheart? What's this on your uniform?
Younger Y/n
Mommy, it's not what it looks like!
Younger Mrs. L/n
Did you draw this?
She showed the me the writing on the back. It said, "I'm a stupid idiot!"
Younger Y/n
No. I don't draw on my clothes.
Younger Mrs. L/n
Are you getting bullied?
Tears fell from my eyes and the next morning, she had told the principal about it and called the student who was bullying me along with the teacher.
My mom was with me the whole time, cursing at the child who bullied me because I had a bruise on my arm.
Younger Mrs. L/n
HE'S A DISRESPECTFUL CHILD HURTING MY DAUGHTER!
Younger Mrs. L/n
IF YOU DON'T DO SOME KIND OF PUNISHMENT I WILL-
Younger Principal
Look ma'am. I understand that your child has been bullied because of him. We will surely give him some punishment.
Younger Principal
And you,
He said, pointing at my teacher.
Younger Principal
Why did you not inform me of this trouble?!
Y/n's 2nd Grade teacher
I was never told about this. Y/n never told me she was getting bullied.
Never told her? What a liar! She treathened that she'd take off points from my grade when I told her that!
Younger Principal
Okay. Please go back to your classroom. Mrs L/n, I'd like to talk to you alone with this boy.
And with that, the teacher took my hand and dragged me back to the classroom where all my classmates stood there waiting.
Y/n's 2nd Grade teacher
Now, Y/n, I'd like you take your seat or I'll take away fifty points from your grade!
I didn't want points taken off my grades. My dad would get mad if I didn't have good grades, so I studied really hard in order to make my family proud.
But by the end of the school year with so much detucted points, I was on the last place of the honor list.
But, I woke up really soon to find myself sweating.

Great. Another dream related to trauma.
I glanced at the clock which would alarm at some certain time and saw it was 10:00pm.
I soon went back to sleep, hoping I'd get something other than traumatic dreams of my past.
But all I could dream of for the next four hours was my negative past.
Like, my hair getting pulled, or me coming home with bruises that I'd cover up with the jacket I'd bring and a pair of puffy eyes each time I was called ugly and fat.
When I was a kid, I was actually really fat that ky family and relatives would mention it everytime they saw my big stomach.
That's why I starved myself.
Everytime I made friends, all of them would just leave me and end up being some backstabber.
That's why I have trust issues.
When I kept on getting bullied for more than four years, I kept changing and changing.
Of course none of my classmates or teachers knew that because I was only bullied in the dark and never told anyone about my problems.
Sure, when I was in second grade, my mom got really angry at the boy who bullied me, but now, my parents would often say "Maybe you did something bad to them" or "Maybe you're the wrong one here". LIKE DIDN'T I JUST TELL YOU THE WHOLE STORY BECAUSE YOU WANTED ME NOT KEEP ANY SECRETS?!
Four the whole night, all I could dream of was my traumatic past. I couldn't sleep anymore after that and it made me think about it.
Why was the world this cruel?
Why does the world hate me?
And that's how my hatred of people was discovered.
That's why I hate everything.
I sigh, finally finishing the batter after so much kitchen disasters.
And remember, I was only doing all this because of Y/n.
Mrs. Matsuno
Fuyu? What are you doing still awake?
My mom said, sleepily as she came to me, rubbing her eyes.
Chifuyu Matsuno
I was just making chocolate cake!
Mrs. Matsuno
And why are you making a chocolate cake in 2 am?
Chifuyu Matsuno
Eheheh, for Y/n?
Mrs. Matsuno
So this is about the courting thing?
I scratched my nape awkwardly.
Chifuyu Matsuno
Yeah . . .
She shurgged and turned around.
Mrs. Matsuno
Alright. Do what you want.
She began to climb back upstairs to her bedroom.
Mrs. Matsuno
Just make sure you get some sleep.
I heard her bedroom door close shut. I quietly put the cake batter in the oven and set it at the temperature it needs to be at and the time limit thing.
When I had closed the oven, I sat down on the chair, exhausted, and opened my manga to the chapter I stopped at.
I was peacefully reading it until Peke J, my cat, jumped to the table and cuddled by my hand.
Chifuyu Matsuno
Peke J, off the table, now.
Peke J purred and cuddled even more to my hand. What the hell would mom say if she saw cat sh*t on the table?
I grabbed him and placed him by my lap, petting him and reading my manga at the same time.

After thrity minutes, the chocolate cake was finally done.I put Peke J down on the floor and got the baking pan with a glove over my hand.
The cake looked nice and tasty, so all we has to do was add the thick frosting I had made first which was in the freezer.
I put Peke J, on my shoulder as I spread the cake with the thick chocolate frosting.
I got really bored with my phone and laptop since they were both low battery. I also didn't want to sleep right now because I could possibly get those bad dreams again.
I stepped out of my bed and dressed up into different clothes.
My toes tipped around the house quietly as I checked if everyone was asleep. Of course they were so I put on my watch for me to check the time and snuck out of the house through my window.
Surprisingly, the frosting part was the quickest I've done. I put the chocolate cake in a box and kept it in the fridge so that it wouldn't get spoiled.
I checked the clock on the wall. It was already 2:45 am.
Chifuyu Matsuno
Wow. Peke J, it's really late.
Peke J, meowed as a sign of agreeing to what I had said.
Chifuyu Matsuno
Maybe we should get some sleep, hmm?
I went over to the curtains next to the door to fix it, but I saw Y/n walking around, all alone in the dark.
What the hell was she doing outside so late?!
I put on my coat and shoes as quickly as I could. What if something happened to her?
Chifuyu called, running out of his house.
Y/n L/n
What are you doing up so late?
Chifuyu Matsuno
I should be asking you that.
Chifuyu Matsuno
Because you're in the f*cking dark, all alone, and outside where dangerous people strike!
I held his shoulders to stop him from worrying.
He then put on his coat on me and held my hand.
Chifuyu Matsuno
Let's get you inside.
He brought me inside his house and forced me to sit down on his couch.
Chifuyu Matsuno
Now, why were you outside, all alone?
I didn't answer because I didn't feel like it. I hated talking.

Come on, answer me.
Chifuyu held my hand tight.

Something could've happened to you.

Don't ever do that again.
I removed his hand from mine, because I didn't feel comfortable when people would touch me.
Y/n L/n
Thanks for letting me in your house, I guess.
Y/n was about to step out until I stopped her by calling her name since I figured she didn't want to be touched.
She turned around to face me.

I have something for you.

Wait here.
I rushed to the fridge and quickly grabbed the box that had the chocolate cake in it.
Chifuyu Matsuno
Here. Take this.

I-it is a cake.

I stuttered because of how nervous I was.
I look at him, then the box with cake. Was this happening because he was courting me?

I'm kinda on a diet.
Of course it was another lie. If I ate that cake, I'd get fat and ugly. I didn't want to get bullied again.

I know you haven't ate in a week.
I watched her eyes widen in shock as I said that.
Y/n L/n
H-how did you know that?
Chifuyu Matsuno
Your mom told my mom that you haven't ate in a week. That's how.
She looked away, embarrassed.
Y/n L/n
O-okay. Thanks for the cake.
She opened the door and left. Man, that felt good to give her something that she'd deserve.
But still, the reason why she's been starving herself was still a mystery to me.
