The Past( Filler 1)
The following dialogue is in whispers.
Nick
Why are you so attached to Em?
Bell
Wh-what do y-you mean?
Carl
Yeah, why are you so attached?
Bell
Don't scare me like that.
Nick
Well, don't scream like that. You know how hard it is for Emily to fall asleep.
Carl
But, please answer the question.
Bell
W-well, you have t-to promise me that y-you won't say a word to Emily.
Bell sighs then proceeds to speak.
Bell
When we were really young, we were both treated differently by our parents. I was dressed and treated like a girl, while Emily was dressed and treated like a boy.
Bell
At first, we were young and didn't understand why it was so. But as we grew older, we gradually understood. What was once cute, was looked upon with pity and disgust.
Bell
At the time, our mother's were going through distress. Her mother had only birthed daughters and was at risk of being thrown out of the household. When Emily was born, her mother concealed her gender and dressed her as a boy. Her luck was that when a child was born, they would be raised elsewhere till the age of 6.
Bell
By the time her mother had gotten pregnant again, Emily had gone through neglect and abuse by her elder sisters, cousins and members of the branch families( all female). This was because their Mother and Father payed more attention to Emily.Because she was thought to be the only boy, everyone tried to curry favour with her. Some went as far as sneaking their daughters into her room for "nightly" favours.
Bell continued his story leaving Nick and Carl in a state of shock.
Bell
As her race is somewhat similar to Carl's and Nick's races, the gestation period for a child is 18 months. When her mother was due, she gave birth to a set of 5 boys( Quintuplets). This was a blessing and a cause for celebration, but in Emily's case, it was like adding water to a pan of hot oil.
Bell
After the 6 year hiatus, her mother brought the boys before their father, as well as his siblings, and revealed the matter of Emily how she had her dress and act as a boy, as well as all that she did because she was afraid to be discarded. Emily was 15 by this time, she had fully adapted to the life of a man, and jad taken care of the film estate bringing them to a period of peace and stability.
Bell
Everyone was shocked, but the worst of all was her father. He was furious at Emily even though it was the fault of her mother. Emily was immediately put under house arrest and taken to a dungeon, instead of a room in a tower like her mother had been told. There, she was chained and tortured daily to only be released when her brothers came of age. To come of age for her race would need one to be 21 and to learn the family working, 16. Yet she was kept there until I broke her out at the age of 69.
Carl
Wait a moment, how is your story similar to hers?
Bell
My mother wanted a girl so badly that when she had me, she was devastated. So she started dressing me up as a girl. In that way, I was able to meet Emily because I was one of those families that snuck their daughters in to "service" her at night.
Bell
We were good friends until the incident happened. I only found out about it when I was 69.
Nick
And why did you only find out then?
Bell
Because her father had told everyone that he had sent her to the Norland Academy!
Nick, Bell, and Carl lay in their beds silently. They were bewildered by the facts presented to them.
Nick
Norland Academy! The Norland Academy?
Carl
What is this Norland Academy and why is it so important?
Nick
Carl, please brush up on world history after tonight because even 4 year olds know Norland Academy.
Nick
It is only the most prestigious academy. It is also located in the Central Continent in the Kingdom of Nadescht, which, if you didn't know, is a Haven for people. They protect their citizens regardless of Race, Gender, and Status. It is even said that having ties to the country through marriage alone will have you set for life. It was also founded right after the war had ended and was guaranteed by a lot of import figures, including the Richardson's.
Bell
Also, countries are gauged on wealth based on how many personnel they can afford to hire from the Nadescht Kingdom. I would have added the academy, but even that would be a stretch.
Bell
Their military is said to be the strongest in the world as well as their justice system. Attending the Academy for even a semester can have your base salary, after graduating from any other academic facility, with a minimum of 3 zeros. not coppers, but Silver. Nadescht silvers.
Carl
What's the difference between regular silver and Nadescht Silver?
Bell
Regular silver is about 10 coppers if we use the conversion rate here in the south. Nadescht silver, on the other hand, is 1,000 coppers.
Carl
Okay, I get it. It's a great Kingdom and all but that still doesn't explain how attending this Academy would blind you from the fact that a person had gone missing for almost 54 years.
Nick
You didn't let us finish.
Nick
Their education system is rigid. While Nursery, Primary and Secondary( Junior high) institutions may have branches in various locations across the Kingdom, the Secondary( Senior High), Tertiary and Post graduate institutions are located in the capital. This means that, assuming there are 756,000 children all over the world, and they all manage to qualify for the Academy, they are free to attend Norland Academy.
Nick
The thing is the Academy assigns you classes based on you Race and Age. Status, Gender and background play a secondary role.
Nick
Emily is part Dragon.
Bell
Just like the rest of us, she is from a long living race.
Bell
At the time, she was preparing to inherit her household as well as pretending to be a boy. Do you understand?
Nick
She is part Dragon, the school experience would be stretched out meaning that if she entered the Academy at 15. She would graduate-
Bell
-Or be released for graduation-
Nick
And that was if, and only if, she had finished the BASIC programs and obtained the degrees that came with them.
Bell
After a 10 year break, she would be free to pursue a higher education.
The air was silent as the 3 all looked to Emily who was peacefully asleep.
Nick
With an aura and a smile like that, you would never have thought she had experienced such atrocities.
Bell
At the time I rescued her, I was taller than her. She could not walk and was just skin and bones
Bell
Lucky for her she had the vitality of a true dragon. She was not fed or given water during this hiatus.
Carl
I can believe everything else except you being taller than Emily.
Bell
I'll have you know that she was in a state where any would have given up but her tenacity kept her going.
Bell
Being the rescuer, it's also why she gives me hugs and kisses because I'm her consoler.
Bell
B-but I want to be her consoler f-forever. And I-I want to c-cook for her and be with her f-for all t-time. ☺👉🏻👈🏻
This was a confession of sort, practised by dragonic species.
The Brownsevelles( a type of bird) started tweeting, so Bell, Carl and Nick decided to go to bed.
