I ducked as one of the boys swung their fist, leaning his whole weight on one foot; I took the opportunity and kicked his leg, watching as he crumbled to the ground. One down... five more to go... Phew!
The five charged at me, cornering me from one angle. I quickly jumped out of the way as they tried to land punches on me but failed, causing them to curse as their hands made contact with the cold hard floor. As I grinned, thinking I won, I turned to escape as fleeing was also a tactic but failed.
One of the boy entrapped me by sealing off the exits, cornering me against a wall of earth while they slowly approached me. "Well, the rat finally stopped scurrying about. Now it's time for your punishment." one boy said as he led the other three boys along with the one guy I plummeted into the ground groaning in pain.
"How low of you." a voice that was growing strangely familiar said. I turned towards it to find Frederick jumping off the wall of earth before landing in front of me smoothly. "This thing... it ruins the atmosphere." he said as water enveloped his hands before he shot it off towards the wall behind us.
The wall melted into mud as the water surrounding his hands came into contact with it. He then grinned as he patted my head. "Well, you did great. Told you we'd meet again." he said before running headfirst into the group of guys trying to gang up on me. "Wha... Ah, hey! It's dangerous... Oh..." I said before trailing off, watching him beat up the bullies like they were nothing.
As Fred successfully subdued them, he let them off with a warning before tidying up the mud from the floor with his magic. Crowds cheered making me jolt straight with attention. If there were people... why didn't they help? Ugh... Mobs...
"Well, it seems your debt keeps piling up. Sapphire..." Fred said before pausing when he said my name. I turned towards him obviously annoyed before saying, "Ugh, whatever. And don't call me that. I'd hate hearing my name from your mouth. It's distasteful... but... thanks... I guess... not like I really need your help or anything. But I appreciate it..." Why am I acting so awkwardly?
"Your name... Sapphire... Is beautiful. It matches you perfectly. Why don't you like it? Beautiful sky blue hair with glimmering sapphire blue eyes... You should be proud of your name. It has never suited anyone so well before. Really... it's perfect... for someone as pretty as you." Fred said with a serious look on his face as he touched a loose strand of my hair. My face flushed and I turned away from him flustered. THE HEECCKKKK??? What is up with his character??? Was he such a flirt?
"Urgh... save your bullshit for some other gullible person. Shouldn't you be busy anyways? Why do I see you so often lately?" I said playing it cool as I ignored my flushed appearance. "I'm not lying. And... I had an urge to see your face, so I searched for you. You always seem to be in trouble whenever I find you." Fred said as he smiled, still caressing my hair.
I slapped his hand off and rolled my eyes at him, turning to walk away just to be stopped by him at the exact same moment as he grabbed my arm. "I... never felt like this before... I think..." Fred said slowly making my heart race. No way... Is this what they call it? An event? But this is a novel! It can't be, right? And why me?
As wild thoughts filled my head, Fred continued his sentence and told me his reasoning; throwing me completely off track from whatever I was thinking of. "After watching you for some time... I felt a need to protect you as the image of your face kept filling my mind... Then when I did, you'd reluctantly thank me... I find it amusing and want to spoil you rotten. All the troubles you're in makes the time I spend saving you so much more intriguing. I think... of you like my first real friend. That's why I'm so worried and overprotective of you. So... let's be friends!" he said as he grinned, patting me on the head.
Wha-- Seriously? That was not what I had expected... Give me back that fluffy feeling I felt! Ugh! This guy is unbelievable, he keeps throwing me off momentum! Gaah!
I stared at his handsome complexion before I rolled my eyes in frustration before grabbing his hand and shaking it as I agreed with him. "That's disgusting and unnecessary as I can take care of myself. You just keep butting in but... I guess we can be friends..." I said.
Well, it's better to keep him close if I plan to dominate the kingdom... Plus, he probably would be as loyal a dog to me as he is to the prince.
As I turned to leave, I noticed a silhouette walking in my direction. The figure drew closer as my eyes focused on it. Oh... It can't be... It's wayyy too soon... This wasn't supposed to happen till later... Weren't they supposed to be at the Roben Empire?
