Slayer Sister pt.2

We had just arrived at the Barne Village. The place where I assumed The Slayer called home. The village was peaceful from what I can see.

People working in the fields, tending to the animals, walking around, children playing happily. The Slayer didn't even have look around his own village. He kept in the dirt road.

And also, much like the people in town, they all stared at us. It was like he always will be looked down on, but I noticed something strange about their expressions. It was... A mix of suprise and confusion. Like they were looking at something bizarre.

I could see the people whispering to each other about something. It was inaudible though, so I paid it no heed.

We continued to walk down the road until we reached a small house. Probably only fitting for two people to live in.

The Slayer knocked softly on the door. Then he stood right in front of it. I stayed behind him. Maybe this was his house?

Pitter patter of someone walking from the other side of the door could be heard. The door opened with a clack.

"Ah! Brother!" A woman clad in a farmer's outfit stood behind the door. She was beautiful too.

The Slayer only nodded in response.

"Welcome back. How was Demon Slaying going?"

He nodded again.

"Ah, thank god it went well." She smiled.

...

Wait.

"So how did you get here?"

He glanced back once on the road.

"Oh, by wagon? How did you get the driver to take you here?"

Huhh?? Hold it, this lady can understand him even though he's not saying anything?!

To answer the question, The Slayer gestured his hand to me which made me yelp.

"Eh?"

"Oh? You brought a friend?"

He nodded.

"Well, that's very nice. Come in. Come in. I'll have some tea ready."

After some time...

PURURU~

"It's nice to see that you have finally found a friend, brother. What is your name?"

The Slayer's sister asked me after pouring some tea into three cups. We sat on wooded benches inside the house. A table separated between the woman and The Slayer from me. They were sitting side by side.

"Umm my name is Chris Avilon."

"Ahh, Chris. That's a nice name." She gave a gentle smile.

"Thank you." I blushed when she praised me.

"How did you get involved with my brother?"

"Um, he saved me from some demons in the forest and uhh we've been like a party ever since."

"Ohh, it's a first in years that someone actually teamed up with him. I hope he wasn't any trouble."

"Eh n-no. In fact, he's been keeping me safe on our adventures."

"I see. Well, isn't that nice, right brother?" She elbowed The Slayer.

He only nodded.

"Oh, right. I almost forgot to introduce myself. My name is Imari. My brother is Damio, but as you know, everyone just calls him The Slayer."

Oh? This is interesting. So his actual name is Damio. I never thought I'd ever know his real name if it I didn't come here.

"Imari... That's a pretty nice name. And Damio, your name is also pretty cool." I said.

The Slayer didn't react at all.

"Don't worry about it brother. You don't have to be embarrassed about it. She is your partner, right?" Imari tried to cheer The Slayer up.

But there was something bugging me.

"Pfft! The Slayer... Embarrassed? Pfft! I-I'm sorry. It's just... Seriously?" I almost laughed it off in front of the person in question.

"Well... Anyway, brother. Would you please go make dinner?"

What? The Slayer making dinner?

He stood up and walked to the kitchen area. I watched him.

"Well, now that he's gone. How about we chat until dinner is ready?" Imari showed me a gentle smile.

"O-oh, okay."

She pulled her cup of tea closer to her mouth and took a couple sips before putting it back down. Then she started talking.

"Ten years ago, in the accident that occured in this village involving demons... Our mother, father and brother were killed by demons. We were all still quite young that time, yet we faced such tragedy. We were eventually saved by chance that adventurers came by."

Why was she suddenly telling me this?

"We've rebuilt most structures in this village. The corpses were buried. Even mother, father and brother's bodies were buried. It was... Even since then that he... Damio stopped speaking."

That hit the spot.

"He stopped speaking? You mean he was able to speak before?" I asked.

"Mhph, yes. He was such a bright, intelligent and strong boy. He was so scared when the demons attack as we were hiding. When we came out when the adventurer had eliminated all the demons, the dead bodies of our family was horrifically displayed left by the demons. I almost puked at the sight of it, but remained strong Damio however... he only said "I will kill every single one of them" with such shaking fists filled with rage. Ever since that, he stopped speaking. He trained himself everyday to become stronger. He even went into the forest alone sometimes to kill any wandering demons that he could find."

"Must be rough for him. I understand. My parents were also taken by the demons."

Actually, my story was pretty much like his, only that I didn't go out hunting demons alone.

Imari turned to the kitchen. Clanking sounds kitchen ware can be heard.

"... Even so, he still remained a good and honest boy. The villagers all still liked him. Only people from outside would view him as some merciless killer. Truth is, he is still soft on the inside."

Yeah, I could agree to that.

Imari turned back to me and smiled.

"Good thing he actually made a friend huh?"

"Ah..." I was speechless.

Well, I guess it was good for him that he finally made a friend outside of his village. Wait a second, if he was so loved by the villagers, why were they all staring at us weird?

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

The Slayer knocked on the. The sight of him made me laugh a little.

"Pfft! Hahaha! You like weird wearing an apron over all that armour, you know? Hahaha!"

Naturally, he didn't even flinch. Imari on the other hand also chuckled.

"Well, let's have dinner then." Imari said.

So The Slayer had about the same past as me. That makes our objective clearer. A little back story like that helped me to know him better.
