School Fair A&A

Although my new class 5th begins in just a few days, I am still getting bored and eagerly anticipating the start of my new school year.

My school conducts a children's day fair every year. Firstly, a school program where teachers perform acts and skits and our class leaders are presented with bouquets from the class teachers of all grades.

We have a fair after the program where teachers set up various kinds of shops on our school playground. Shops offer a variety of mouth-watering food delicacies as well as a variety of games to play, and if you win, you get prizes.

I was enjoying my time with my three best friends Nitya, Almaas, and Shifa, who are my soulmates. No matter what, we never leave one another.

“Bitch how much did you bring? As Almaas questioned Shifa

Every student brings money from home, then exchanges it at the counter into money coupons from which they can buy items from different shops.

Yeah, this was the rule, and my friends and I hated it for the simple reason that it was Children's Day. How could you give us food and prizes with our own money!!!

Our school sometimes acts stingily.

"Of course more than you bullhead, but don't you dare blow all your money on food, for I am not gonna give my coupon to you for playing games," Shifa responded.

“That's so mean and whatever!” Almas responded with a dramatic hair flip: "I don't play these silly games."

Then let's see who comes to whom for coupons," Shifa said with a smirk while passing a coupon to the teacher of a games shop

As I was roaming around eating my other soulmate spaghetti, I spotted Ahaan who was surrounded by so many small children and I became curious when I noticed his friends Aryan, Vansh and Harris standing aside and shouting something.

I was not ready to go there with Nitya, so she dragged me there

"Aryan, why are you guys here with these children instead of enjoying the fair?"Nitya questioned Aryan

Aryan replied to her sulking “Oh! don't ask, Nitya. We are gathering the students here to play an absurd game called "Find the words in the newspaper"

“What? But why? Did Lily ma’am tell you to do so?" Nitya asked with a confused look on her face

“No, it was Ahaan. When he saw some children of the junior wing sitting on the bench he asked them why they weren't playing. They said they were short on money as their parents had given them a very little amount so he decided to cheer them up by playing a free game with them.

When Nitya and I heard this, we were both touched by his kind gesture, but I didn't show it on my face.

“Wow! Aradhya, Ahaan is a charming and caring guy" Nitya exclaimed dreamily while I rolled my eyes at her overdramatic gesture.

Seeing Ahaan laughing and playing with the kids, a smile crept onto my face unknowingly, and as if he sensed my gaze, he looked towards me; I was startled, quickly turned my head in another direction and my cheeks turned red as I was caught staring at him.

It was definitely my imagination because I sensed him smiling at me and then he came towards us giving the children a few more words with his hands in his pocket, giving him an even more savage look.

Of course, I am not complimenting him, it's just I respect and admire the beauty that’s it!

“Hey, Ahaan!" Nitya smiled brightly

Ahaan replied, gazing at me, "Hi Nitya"

"Ahaan, you're such a sweet boy, caring so much for those children". Nitya adoringly replied to him with her sugary words as she always did and I tried my best not to sigh and roll my eyes.

Ahaan said, "Come on, it's no big deal, I'm enjoying it a lot too."

If not for today I would have always thought he was a complete idiot and a complete arrogant man, which he still is but a little less now.

"So can we help you with this, we'd love to," Nitya asked him pleadingly, and I snapped my head towards her.

With gritted teeth, I whispered in her ear, "Nitya are you out of your mind, I cannot do this, especially with him, and I want to eat many more things before they are finished and look they are about to be finished, I'm leaving."

I was about to walk back but she quickly held me and murmured “ What do you mean you are going? You always act like you love helping others then why not now when you have the chance?”

I stared at her stunned by her hypocrisy because she is the one who finds it boring to help others and here in front of Ahaan she is acting all super benevolent goodie-good saint.

“Actually yeah, I need your help as I am running low on hands and the children keep gathering” Ahaan replied looking at me and then smiled at Nitya

“Then it’s done me and Aradhya are happy to help,” Nithya told jumping at her place

"Are you sure that Aaradhya will help?" “She seems reluctant,” Ahaan said as he smirked at me.

Hell no I don’t want to help this dumbass but my frenemy Nitya is not letting my hand go and I sighed, “ Why will I be reluctant to help those children, of course, I don’t mind” I assured Ahaan with a fake smile.

Ahaan simply nodded his head and we all walked towards the stall where the children were gathered and were calling Ahaan again and again.

Ahaan instructed us how to give the children the words from the newspaper and to be honest, it was actually fun being surrounded by so many cheerful faces.

Suddenly a kid said something to Ahaan in his ear pointing at me and Ahaan smiled, glanced at me and replied  “ Not yet but soon” and the kids started giggling.

Though I don't know what the kid said, I bet it wasn't a good comment.

I had no idea when the time flew by and I and Ahaan were talking to each other as if we were very old friends and I was enjoying every bit of it. As I spoke to Ahaan, my stomach fluttered in delight.

The fair came to an end. The next day, Ahaan acted as though he was a stranger to me. I was so disheartened and upset by his action that I too decided to become completely aloof to him.

I smiled when I remembered the school fair memory, and the mere thought of meeting Ahaan was enough to lose any remaining patience I had of waiting to return until school started again.
