Chapter 1: What is 12?

Finals

Those are the usual grading periods that a normal student will look forward to. But, that’s not the case for Willord Castle High -- every 1st quarter is a make or break for the students. Will I get the badge for the midnight class? Will I even have the chance to become part of the class? Those are the usual questions you would hear the students ask.

Student 1: “Will they even release the reviewers where we can get an idea how to get in that class?”

Student 2: “Nope, not sure… I don’t think they will -- they won’t”

While the rest were too busy reviewing, some were too busy gossiping about random stuff -- or folks… Alright just one folk…

Student 1: “God what d fak is she wearin.?”

Student 2 looked around and found a goth girl in the corner, prolly reviewing but she never can make a guess. She was wearing sunny eyewear that captured everyone’s attention.

Student 3: ”They say she is being possessed, cursed… That stupid lil arrgghhh -- she’s getting into my nerves”

Student 2: “Hey, just focus on the review will you? She’s not doing any harm on you. If that’s her style -- be it”

Student 2 walked out and left, leaving the other students reviewing and gossiping at the same time.

Office of the Campus President

(While everyone is busy taking their exams)

Secretary Wang: “I think they were all identified. The first 4 entered the academy with the knowledge that they are different from the others.”

President Winsford: “I think we are ready…” he gave a minimal smirk as he gave a signal on the exam proctors.

Secretary Wang pressed the button and looked at the surveillance available in the rooms of the exam takers. 

(In the next few minutes the chosen students will hear a long tingling sound that will make them spaced out, sometimes it can be delusional. After the brain wracking effect they will return to their test papers and will notice the item #12 blank)

Secretary Wang: “By this time, unconsciously they will be writing their potentials there”

Classroom A

Homeroom Teacher: “Hey, Unix are you okay?”

Unix felt so much pain in his head and it lasted for a very short time. It didn't take that long but he felt the pain so damn hard. He struggled for a moment but realized that he has an exam to complete. 

“Thanks Ms. Rose, I don;t know what happened”

Ms. Rose: “You must be staying up late doing reviews. This is the last one that you need to complete, just go to the clinic after this”

Unix thanked his teacher again, looked around and noticed that everyone is still doing their business as if none of them experienced that same thing and heard the same sound except for one.

Ms. Rose: “Last 2 minutes class -- blah blah blah”

Unix returned to his paper, quickly browsed to it and noticed the item number 12. 

“What?”

He was just staring at it, staring so hard and trying to figure things out. 

Ms. Rose: “Unix? Unix? -- Unix!”

Unix freaked out as he heard the teacher’s voice. He was trembling and still looking at his paper, he looked around and almost everyone’s gone.

“Ms. Rose” he whispered

“I can’t seem to read the item number 12, I was trying to answer it but i think it is too blurry. There could be something wrong in my eyes.” he said while explaining himself, he handed the test paper to his teacher with his confused and worried eyes.

Ms. Rose: “This seems okay to me Unix!” she gave him a tap on her shoulder to give him comfort and collected his paper

“You know after this go to the clinic and have yourself checked. I am always impressed with how you are managing your career and schooling. But, I think you are getting tired now --” she gave him a reassuring smile and gave a signal that he can go and visit the clinic already.

Before going out of the classroom Unix looked back at his teacher and said thank you again.
