Young one, would you like to hear a story? Once upon a time there was a little girl named Zion. One day, a blinding light surrounded her and she saw a charred horse with a mane of flame. “You are the next chosen one,” it said, as it began to disappear, “You will understand… next time we meet.”
Every night when young Zion went to sleep, she saw the horse. It explained what it was, who she was now. The spirit of fire had chosen her as it’s new host. It was now a part of her. Her job, along with the spirits of water and plants, was to fix humanity’s mistakes and help create natural phenomena. It was now Zion’s job to create fires and to be the shield of the spirits… and their sword. She was also meant to help with heating the earth in certain ways to help the water spirit with winds and evaporation, if needed. The Spirit of water controlled the natural cycle of water. It wasn't so natural, it was mostly calculated by the spirit. The wind, the rain, the weather… that was the specialty of the water spirit. Finally, the plant spirit. She controlled all forms of plant life and photosynthesis. She also held the power to control the very earth. She was responsible as the eyes of the three spirits. She, connected to the very ground beneath everyone's feet, could find out any secret. Nothing examined from her prying eyes. Three children were chosen. When they died, their souls would combine with the spirits and once again find a host. The host could turn into a version of their species where they would embody a similar shape, but also the haractoristice of their element. The spirits came with not only the benefits of their respective powers, but also with knowledge exceeding that of the host’s entire species. Young Zeon… she now had a responsibility. She grew into a teenager worthy of the title “spirit of fire,” and became more hot headed as time went on.
Once she finally reached her teenage years, she was compelled to seek out the other two spirits, and together, they were more powerful than apart. One was an old man, Memphis, who died soon after meeting the young Zion. He was the earth spirit. Now, the eyes the spirits once had were gone. Going in blind to deal with their respective duties, Vughn, the water spirit, and Zion of fire soon went to start a forest fire when three humans stumbled upon them. They were both in their characteristic forms. Zion, singed and flaming started at the three, recognising them as her friends from school. She refused to burn them in the forest. Vaughn argued. He said that plenty of animals would die in the fire and it needed to be done. The two took too long arguing and the humans had disappeared. Soon enough, Zion finally started the fire. It was not long before they were swamped with dart guns and humans. Zion began to choke as they put out her fire. The fire spirit lived on fire. After being sprayed with so much liquid by the humans, the fire of her hair began to die out and she began to choke. She was the strongest of the spirits, but without her fire being safe, she would die. Vaughn explained this to the humans but they didn’t understand. They took her into custody as she slowly began to die.
She woke up in a lab. Her fire was out… How was she alive? Zion was in a room made out of non-combustables. She still looked singed, like charcoal. She tried to return to her normal form. She couldn’t. She didn’t have her fire. When her sacred fire was inside of her body, she was weak, but she would turn into a normal human. When her fire was outside of her body, she couldn’t return to being human until it moved to a special compartment inside where the lame would be controlled. “I am the fairy queen,” said a figure behind the glass. “I can get you out, but when you die, you will belong to me, forevermore.”
“Deal.”
