Rumors from the South

I immediately go to my room after the ceremony. I stood in front of my window, and felt the cold breeze on my face. I want to play a song, to relieve me from what I feel inside. The loneliness I felt when I saw the other students together with their parents.

Who was there to Pat me in the head? Master Maleck? He’s busy with the council that day. And I’ve lost my connection to Master Eliva without knowing the reason.

At least Reisha and Keisar were there. But I have to make an excuse after their Parents came.

I don’t have to bother them, and I don’t want to be judged because I don’t have a parent.

I reached my flute to my hidden storage under my bed. My parents named it; “The Flute of Seven Harmony”.

I played it in a very slow, and emotional tone. It is one of my greatest piece; The Silent Harmony.

A few minutes later, I grabbed my notes and walk outside the halls. I still have a little work to do at my Master’s private library.

Then I heard Master Eliva, talking to the two council members. I hid at the statue, and eavesdrop.

“I’ve heard from a scout, there’s a sudden movement at the sea ports of Illoira. It has a banner on it, the Banner of Ragalion” Agav said. Master Eliva seems distressed.

“They can’t get their attention off of us huh? After the Black Bone were almost annihilated, we remain silent, and we even sent some of the council for peace talks. Do they want revenge?”.

“I know, Master Eliva. But things had changed. They already regained their strength. Rumors had said that they are preparing for a full-scale attack on the island”, said the man in the hood.

“After they slain Lord Agdon and Master Brisha at the sea, isn’t that enough to deal a fatal blow against us? Don’t you think they already know they have a descendant?”, Agav said.

Was he referring to me!? I can’t believe hearing the death of my Parents would be this overwhelming., and of course it’s me! Wait, couldn’t it be that I am the reason of this conflict?

I listened carefully. I heard the man in the hood again.

“I knew this day would come. They think that Asvra, the last of the Valgrad Family is amassing an army of Necromancers to avenge his parent’s death”.

Well, I’m pretty sure I am not! It is true that I hate them, but in this world, it’s kill or be killed. I wouldn’t risk the lives of the many in this tower for my personal agenda. And my life is my life!

Then I heard them coming. I ducked at the statue.

“Let’s just talk about this in some place. And it’s time we teach the students about the Vaderuum Ingarno. Who knows if the rumors are true. They are the only ones who can defend themselves”, Master Eliva scowls.

“Don’t you think we should force Asvra to Awaken? After all, his parents gave him the mark of Vaine. That mark will be our savior, and our enemies will be annihilated. And we can even use him to destroy the Illoirans for good!”, Agav said with a malicious laugh.

Then I heard a slam on the walls. I took a little glance behind them to see what’s going on. I’ve saw Master Eliva slams his face, and used her nails to scratch him in his back. “You have the guts to tell that in front of the person who once raised Asvra when he was a child!”.

Agav clenched his teeth in pain. Then Master Eliva let go of him. “I’m sorry, Master Eliva. Please accept this as an apologetic offering”. He removed his thumb nails and gave it to Master Eliva.

After they are gone, I doubled my speed on walking out on the hall. I keep thinking if the tower is really in danger.

“I didn’t know the reason of Master Eliva’s side of story when she left me at Master Maleck. And about the Mark of Vaine, they’ve said that my Parents gave it to me. But before they gone to the battle, I’ve only received their last words, and a kiss on my forehead”.

“They didn’t give me some sort of spell. What are they talking about? And the Vaderuum Ingarno. I don’t have a full knowledge about that. But I know it’s a third-tier necromancy and it’s very powerful”.

I’ve rushed all the way to the top to see Master Maleck in his Private Library. I must know the truth tonight, and I need to brace myself for whatever it is.
