Episode 4 : Selfish New Friends

I woke in my subconscious mind. "Why my bed feels like something so hard and cold?" As soon as my consciousness came back, I realised that I'm lying on the floor of my living room. In an instant, everything that happened last night rehearsed in my memory. I looked at the clock. It's still 7 in the morning. "Too early to get ready." Still I tried to get up but to my horror, my whole body felt so numb. "As far as I can recall, last night he didn’t do anything to me. He only pushed me against the wall & whispered in my ears. That's it. But...Forget it. It must be due to lying on the floor for the whole night."

I got ready and at 8 O'Clock, I started for my university. "Today I got here too early. So now I can roam around and get to know here well." After almost 10 minutes, Vivian arrived. Then we together started to roam around here and there. It was quite fun.

Suddenly I noticed a literally big gathering of girls at the entrance. Due to my curiosity, I also joined them. Most of the girls looked at me with eyes full of hatred. So I guessed it was due to Geoffrey for being so close to me. I saw four brand new cars coming this way. They were all luxurious and expensive cars. After the cars were being parked, its owners came out in a boastful manner. They were Geoffrey and his friends. According to the gossips around me, the person who was right beside of Geoffrey was Aubrey. Behind them was Ron and to his left was Lawrence. Seems like they are quite popular among all the girls here. They were walking this way so these girls made a road by stepping away. I got faded in the crowd. But surprisingly, he was walking towards the place where I was getting swept away by the crowd.

I heard someone's gossiping like, "Lumen, he's coming to you."

The girl named Lumen replied with shyness, " Is he?"

Ignoring their hopes he came to me and said, "Are you tryna be like these lame girls?"

"What if I be like them? Will you then stop pestering around me?"

Everyone was listening to our conversation with full attention.

Turning a blind eye to them, he replied in an arrogant voice, "The thing that I once considered as mine will be mine no matter what it becomes later."

Me along with everyone got astonished on what he just said. Cuz he didn’t said such words to any other girl before.

A moment later he again said, "But my instincts told me that you are here out of your curiosity, am I right?"

My eyes burst out of shock. "Am I that easy to be read of? Why everytime he looks into my eyes I feel like he's scanning all through my thoughts."

Seeing my bursting eyes, he leaned towards me and said, "By the way you look pretty with mini skirts. Wear these types of dresses everyday."

"Sorry but I prefer long dresses so I don't have much of these collections."

With a chuckle he said, "Even though you prefer long dresses but you are wearing a short one today. Is it because you wanna seduce me that much?"

"Argh...."

Teasing me makes him satisfied. So he left with a smile on his face after he finished teasing me. I noticed another thing too. He acted like nothing happened last night. It made me feel so annoyed. At least he should've said sorry to me for breaking into my place. But based on his attitude, I think the word 'Sorry' ain't in his dictionary.

As he went far away, I got so surprised by the way some girls started to behave with me. Especially the girl named Lumen and her friends started to behave too friendly with me. Something felt so doubtful. "I doubt that they are tryna use me as their stepping stone to those rich popular guys, but I won't spare them too, rather I'll take advantage of them. Thanks for giving me such an opportunity, guys."

In the breaktime Vivian asked me, "Did something bad happen to you last night?"

"Why are asking such an weird question?"

"Remember, yesterday Ron called me out?"

"Oh yes. Then...."

"Geoffrey asked me your address. When I was refusing to tell them, Aubrey threatened me saying, 'If we find out her address by ourselves then wait for what happens to you."

So that's why that day Vivian was shivering in front of them and everyone was looking at her fiercely.

"I'm extremely sorry Tessa. I got no ways but to tell them the truth."

She seems to feel guilty. So I tried to be a solacer to her by saying, "It’s not your fault, dear. It's their fault. They got powers but they are misusing it. Besides last night I was completely fine. Nothing happened to me."

"Really?"

With a tender smile I nodded my head saying, "Hmmm."

Today I came back home without any tensions. "I'm feeling much more relaxed today." But something devilish peeped in my mind and that is how to trick those selfish girls. I just wanna make them feel jealous about me. And the best way to make them feel so is to get closer to Geoffrey in front of them. "Geoffrey hates them but they want him. Seems like he's only interested in me. Thus they are tryna use me to get closer to him as my friends. Or why would these guys who hated me from the first day when they saw him getting interested in me wanna be my friends?"

I entered my apartment and closed the door. No sooner had I locked the door, someone knocked at my door.
