5.Christmas Eve

One hour later the quadruple found

themselves exploring the new place they were in… Frizzworth. The streets were

crowded and noisy but everyone could be heard clearly. There were parents and

adults buying toys and many other gifts. There were children tagging alongside

their parents or just exploring the stores. David, William, Florence and

Catherine entered a beautiful clothes store by the side of the main street.

There were very few vehicles so the four of them crossed the road rather

easily.

“Coo. Look at this,” Florence said, twirling

around in a new dress that she had just tried on. It was knee length and blue

with gold stars on it. “You’ve sure got style,” Catherine replied, “In fact

let’s both get the same dresses. Well… Different colour though.” The boys

glanced at each other and smiled. They had both chosen a pair of shorts and

baggy t-shirts so they could not understand why the girls wanted to be super

stylish. Catherine continued, “I’ll get this red and silver version of yours.

We can wear these frocks tomorrow for Christmas as they are both Christmas

colours.” “Yeah!” Florence said, seemingly rather exited.

Soon the dress commotion was over. The girls

paid for the boys’ clothes and the boys paid for the girls.

“Look at that store,” Catherine said when they

were back on the roads, “It sells various types of tea. Why not take some back

to STD to give our friends?” “That sure is a great idea. Let’s get some,”

William said. Just then it started raining heavily. The boys were wearing

waterproof shoes so they were alright but the girls were only wearing short

heels. “Let’s carry them,” David suggested. William nodded his head. “Wait…

What!” Catherine said as David lifted her off the ground and into his arms.

William did the same to the equally shocked Florence. They laughed as the boys

sprinted with the girls in their arms to the tea store. The girls carried all

the bags. In the store each of them brought ten tea packet boxes each.

Catherine chose to buy raspberry. William brought Strawberry, Florence brought

cinnamon and David decided to get blackcurrant.

Five hours later, after rushing along the rainy

roads the four friends finally arrived back at the hotel. There were many gifts

laid out on the table, but one of them caught David’s eyes. It was a huge box

right in the centre of the table and the way it was wrapped made it look

extremely valuable. As David began to make his way towards the parcel, Florence

called out, “David, what do you want for dinner? Catherine’s planned of making

baked beans with toast and some hot cocoa with marshmallows to go with it as we

are all super cold.” “Oh, yeah that would be great. Umm. Yeah make that. Good.

Yes,” David muttered. “David get changed. You’re soaking. We’ll have to mop you

along with the floor if you don’t,” William boomed. Catherine giggled. David

jumped into his senses, “Yes… I’ll do that. No need of a mop.” He then ran into

the bathroom, out again because he forgot his clothes and then in, stripping

his t-shirt off. “Come on. No need to see the clown play around all day. Let’s

head into the kitchen and help Catherine with the cooking,” Florence said

patting the laughing William’s back.

Soon dinner was served and everyone enjoyed it

thoroughly.

“Tell us a poem Wil. Please,” Catherine begged.

“Fine. Switch the lights off and give me a torch,” William said, getting on

bed. “Why a torch?” Florence asked. “Just to add a little spark to my poem.

That’s all,” William replied. So, Florence switched the lights off and handed

William a tiny torch. William lit the torch so that only his face was visible.

Then he began:

“There were once four friends,

The best there ever was.

They shared a bond like no other,

Ignoring their loss.

Working together,

Forever they stayed.

Happiness tied between them.

Not a secret untold,

Unless needed to withhold,

Forever and more,

The tighter they grow.

Like family and tricksters.”

“God Wil that was great! How do you come up with

words so fast?” cheered David. And then the girls began to applaud.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. “CAN YOU

TEENS PLEASE KEEP YOUR VOLUME LOW. SOME PEOPLE HERE ARE TRYING TO GET SOME

REST. KEEP THE ENERGY FOR CHRISTMAS!” Came a loud and grumpy male voice from

the other side of the door.

“Sorry,” Florence murmured. “That man’s right

you know. Let’s keep our energy for tomorrow. Goodnight,” Said Catherine

yawning and tucking herself in bed. “Hey Cathy! Leave some space for me too,”

Florence said, but she was too late. Catherine was already asleep. “You can

share our bed you know. I won’t mind sleeping on the floor,” William said,

putting his hand around Florence. “Hey! That was my line,” David demanded. Out

of luck, Catherine rolled over, leaving enough space for Florence to sleep in.

“Invisible luck,” William whispered, looking disappointed.

Soon the quadruple was fast asleep, knowing that the next day would be a very busy

and happy one.
