...No one's Pov:-...
"Vantae, you have been requested to see the boss."
"I've been What now?" I asked, blanking. I turned quickly to my superior.
"The boss wants to see you."
"Mr. Yang?" I stood. "What did I do this time?" I muttered.
"No." I stopped, surprised. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"What do you mean 'no' sir? Isn't Mr. Yang my boss?"
"Not him. The boss." I froze once again, thoughts bombarding my head.
"Shit." I muttered underneath my breath.
"Any idea why?" I asked hopefully. The beta shrugged and I groaned, nodding. He led me down the hall and to the elevator.
I found myself in a large conference room, six alphas staring at me. I mustered my strength, forcing down my submissive omega. I was a beta to everyone I worked with, not an omega. No one could know. Not just because I would instantly be fired, but also I was a male omega. Probably the only one in the city if not the country.
"Sirs." I said, bowing lowly. I stood up and looked at the center, at Mr. Jeon, the boss.
"You are Vantae?" I nodded. I was told to sit so I sat across from all of the men.
"These are my most trusted men." Mr. Jeon said, gesturing to the others around him. I just stared at him, waiting for him to get to the point of why I was here. "Do you know why you are here?" It was a Rhetorical question, but I shook my head anyway. "You are here because it's come to light recently that you..."
I tried my best not to react. They couldn't have found out, there was no way they could have. "...are one of the best workers here in the business." I almost snorted. Business as in mafia dealings. "I've seen your work, you are quite skilled. And I feel like you're talents would be wasted simply sitting at a desk all day planning small little jobs."
"Hmm?" I gave him a confused look.
"I'm promoting you." He said, as if it were obvious. I felt my eyes widen slightly.
"W-Well thank you, sir." I managed.
"You'll be trained by my men, and then we'll see how useful you really are. You'd be a great addition to my personal team." I'd been happy for about two seconds before he said that. Bad idea. It was one thing being promoted. It was another spending all day around six alphas. Six unmated alphas.
He sat there, waiting for my response. But I knew that I couldn't refuse. It'd be suspicious and only bring me unwanted attention. I nodded slowly and Mr. Jeon smiled slowly.
"Good. Starting tomorrow you'll meet Hoseok down on the lowest level to start your training."
"Yes sir. Thank you." I bowed once more before leaving. Yes, I worked for a mafia. In fact, one of the largest mafias in the world. Why? Because, even though it may not sound like it, it's one of the safest places for me to be. I'd be around betas all day, because I'd never be a high level member. Or so I thought.
The next day I nervously made my way down to the basement. I was greeted by some guys and I finally found the one I was supposed to meet for 'training'. He nodded to me as I walked up to him and then I stood there awkwardly, unsure of what to do.
"Do you know how to fight?" He asked.
"I was only taught the basics. I'm not really meant to be a fighter." I said. And I wasn't. Not only because I was really small, but also because I was an omega. Omegas were submissive by nature, and even learning how to fight was extremely difficult, as I'd learned when I'd first joined the gang.
"Even so, we'll have to improve your skills. Let's see what you can do right now, and then I'll plan out what's next." I nodded, already dreading this.
"Good." He then walked towards one of the sparring rings in the room. I followed behind him.
"Oooh...putting him up against yourself, Hobi?" A voice said. I turned to find three men sitting at the edge of the ring. I recognized them as more of the alphas in Jeon's team. Jimin, Yoongi and Jin.
"Well I gotta see where he's at. And Jungkook told me to train him personally." I hesitantly got into the ring. Hoseok turned to me.
"You might wanna invest in contacts soon. Glasses aren't going to last long." I paused, then nodded. In truth, I didn't need glasses, they were just to take attention away from my face, which I knew was almost unnaturally attractive to people.
I walked to the edge of the ring and slowly removed my glasses, setting them somewhere safe before turning back to Hoseok. As I'd turned he'd frozen, staring at me. I felt all sorts of eyes on me and I forced myself not to blush in embarrassment.
"I think you're the prettiest beta I've ever seen." I heard Jimin comment. I ignored it and focused back on Hoseok, who'd seemed to recover just slightly. He cleared his throat awkwardly.
"Right. Just try to dodge these."
"Wouldn't want to ruin that pretty face, doll." Someone, purred from the side lines. I ground my teeth at the comment and nodded at Hoseok. Suddenly there was a fist coming at me and I felt my eyes widen. I quickly ducked, definitely not wanting to get hit in the face by the obviously very strong alpha.
I stood up again, only to find another fist. I moved, but the blows became faster. And suddenly he sent a kick, which definitely connected with my side painfully. I barely held in my whimper of pain and winced. I let out a long, shaky and painful breath as Hoseok stopped attacking me.
"Well, you know how to dodge well enough." He said. "But can you throw a hit?"
"I don't really think I should try." I commented. "Because I don't really feel like getting laughed at."
"Well at least you can admit it." He sighed. "Alright, but we still have to work on it, in case you have to send an attack." He led me out of the ring and I grabbed my glasses, pushing them on my face once again.
The next three hours were horrible, to say the least. My naturally small and weak body was not good for throwing any sort of punch, nor kick.
After the first initial laughs Hoseok was obviously trying to keep in, he showed me how to properly position myself and throw a punch. At the end of the day I was exhausted. But apparently not done.
"Follow me." Jin said, walking away. I followed him and entered what seemed to be a small hospital.
We went into a private room and I was seating on the bed. Jin sat at a chair across from me. "Let me check your wound. Hoseok is physically one of the strongest alphas and he hit you full force." He said. I paused when he reached for my shirt. I wore baggy clothes to hide my figure, because it was too feminine to be a beta's.
"It's, fine, really."
"I'm surprised you stayed standing. You took the hit really well, too, but I still need to check it."
"It's fine." He growled at me and I froze, panic seeping through me.
"Take off your shirt." He commanded.
"Mr. Kim." I paused as Jin turned away from me, breathing out a small sigh of relief. Hyungsik was walking towards us, perhaps the only person who knew that I was an Omega. "Mr. Jeon wanted you. I'll take care of Taehyung. He's a little stubborn when it comes to realizing he's hurt, so don't get too mad at him."
Seokjin nodded and stood, giving me one last glance before walking out. I relaxed, and offered Hyungsik a small smile. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
"I know. I know. Now let's see that wound." I pulled my shirt over my head and looked down, frowning at how ugly the discoloration was. Hyungsik sighed and grabbed some supplies, before walking back over to me.
"This is extremely dangerous, V." He scolded me.
"Well not like I had a choice, Sik. What would it look like if I rejected to work with Mr. Jeon himself? That would be even more suspicious."
"You'll be around six alphas all day. They're going to find out."
"They won't find out. I've hidden it for years without a single person knowing, so I can stand to be around a few more alphas."
"That's a lie and you know it."
"Well what the **** am I supposed to do then? I can't find a normal job. They will find me. And I can't go back to that." Hyungsik sighed, knowing that I was right.
"Just be careful, okay? It could be worse if they found out."
"Yes, I know. God, I know. But I have no other choice right now. I'll just double the dosage I'm taking."
"That's not healthy, V. It makes you sick." I just glared at him, not wanting to have this argument yet again.
"Are you done?" Hyungsik sighed and nodded. I pulled my shirt back over my body and stood. "Thanks for wrapping me up." Then I turned and walked out.
I passed Yoongi and Jimin in the hall and stopped in front of them. "You can go home, Vantae, since there's really nothing for you to do. But don't be surprised if one of us calls you later if we need anything."
"Of course. Thank you." I left the building and sighed, feeling less pressured. I walked towards home, enjoying the slightly cool breeze blowing.
I must have been daydreaming because a honk of a car horn suddenly made me flinch. I turned towards the car. It was a sleek black sports car, obviously expensive.
The car window rolled down and I blinked in surprise to find Jungkook. "Do you need a ride?" He asked. I tilted my head, shaking it.
"No, I only live about two blocks from the main building."
"You still shouldn't be walking." He said. "Now that you work directly with me, you'll be more of a target."
"Well, then I'll keep that in mind. I do have a car, I just choose not to use it. But seeing that it's my first day, I'll take me chances."
"Get in." He commanded. I sighed and opened his car door stepping in. When I shut the door, the sounds of the busy city were muffled, and all I could hear was Jungkook and I'd breathing.
"Keep going straight and then turn left onto XXX street. It'll be the first building on the right." He nodded and started to drive.
We pulled up to the tiny apartment building I called home. "You live here?"
"Is there a problem with that?"
"Well--" I rolled my eyes.
"We can't all be multi billionaires who live in mansions and penthouse suites, Mr. Jeon. I have no use for a large home when I live alone, and I'd prefer to save my money than waste it on useless material items." I opened the car door. "Thank you for the ride. I'll see you tomorrow Mr. Jeon. Have a pleasant evening."
And then I shut the door, turning away and walking towards my home. I entered the building and walked all the way up to my apartment. I walked inside the single bedroom apartment and plopped down onto my couch.
I sighed and ran a shaky hand through my hair, scolding myself internally. Did I really just scolded Jeon Jungkook? The Jeon Jungkook? An idiot. I was an idiot.
But there was really nothing I could do about it, cause it had already happened. I tried my best to shrug it off and went to my room, taking a shower and dressing in a large t-shirt and some boxers.
I sat back on my couch and watched some TV.
The ringing of my phone jolted me out of my sleep. I sat up on the couch and reached for my phone, clicking accept without even seeing who it was.
"Hello?"
"Were you sleeping?"
"Doesn't matter, what do you want?" I asked in a husky and sleepy voice.
"I need you to come to headquarters. Immediately."
"Immediately?" I looked down at my state of dress.
"I'm giving you two minutes." Jungkook hung up and I jumped up, running around. I grabbed my glasses and my car keys, running out of the door.
Even though I lived really close, it still took a good five minute drive. I sped down the streets and made it to the building, where I found the six alphas standing in the parking garage.
I got out and walked over to them. Luckily, I'd had a spare pair of sweat pants in my car, so I'd been able to slip them on.
"Yes?" I asked, pushing the messy hair from my face.
"Somethings come up."
"Well no shit. What?" I looked at them expectantly. Jungkook smirked and strode up to me.
"Do you think that you could seduce someone for me?"
"Excuse me?" I asked, blinking
"We need you to distract someone for us." I looked down at my state of dress and back up at them.
"Uh..."
"Don't worry, we've got everything ready for you. Someone will meet us there to get you ready."
"O...okay..." I said hesitantly.
"Don't worry, you could literally say nothing, and you'd be fine." Hoseok whispered into my ear as we made our way towards an unfamiliar car.
"This guy's a sucker for pretty little things. The dumber the better."
"I'm not dumb."
"I know, but I'm just saying that if you get nervous or panic or anything, you'll still be good."
"Gee, that makes me feel so much better." I replied dryly. Hoseok snickered and pushed me into the car. He got into the driver's seat and we headed off. We drove for awhile before pulling up in front of a large and fancy looking building.
A woman was standing there, waiting for us. Without even a simple introduction, I was shoved at her. She pulled me away from the group.
We entered a small and private room, where she studied me. "Glasses. Off." She commanded. I obeyed and her eyes widened in surprise. "Yes!" She suddenly shouted. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this." She was suddenly like an excited teenage girl.
She threw some clothes at me and told me to go and change. I did so, and came back out, checking myself out in the mirror. Nope. Was so not going to wear this
Tight black pants, dress shoes, and a red silk dress shirt. The girl forced me to open two buttons, and then sat me down in a chair.
She did my hair, and then, to my horror, took out some makeup. "I'm good, really."
"Stay still." The girl frightened me, if i was to be honest. So I simply sat there and let her do what she wanted. When she was done, I once again found myself looking at the mirror. My inside curled st my appearance.
I was stunning. And that is exactly what I didn't want. I didn't want to stand out. I didn't want to draw attention to myself.
The girl nodded her head in approval. "You"re so beautiful." She sighed out. "I'm so jealous." She handed me two more things. One of them being a thick, black choker, and the other a picture.
I put the choker on, and then studied the photo. "That's your target. I've been told to tell you that you must distract him for two hours. Don't let him take his eyes off of you or leave your side, and don't leave until any of the alphas come and get you."
I nodded. I stood from my seat and stepped outside of the room after being instructed on where to go. I inhaled a big breath and exhaled slowly, calming my nerves, before stepping into the crowded room. I felt very self conscious, and it felt like every pair of eyes in the room turned towards me as I entered.
I walked in slowly, forcing myself to keep my head up and my eyes straight forward. I looked around the room, searching for my target, before I laid eyes on him. He was all the way across the room, studying me like I was some delicious meal.
Ashamed, I sunk into my other persona, the one I thought I'd never have to use again. I have him a playful wink before turning and walking towards the bar. I ordered the strongest available drink.
I flew a presence behind me, and sure enough, a voice sounded behind me. "Hello, lovely." I turned to find my target. I smirked, twirling the plastic sword impaling the olives in my drink.
"Wow, what a pick up line."
"Hey, if it works, it works." He sat beside me and ordered himself a drink.
"You seemed to like what you saw when I walked in." I purred out, playing it off as the dumb blonde.
"Well, who didn't? I'm Jason, by the way."
"Foreigner?"
"Parents were. I was born and raised here, just given an American name."
"Wow. You look Korean."
"Came from my dad."
"I see. I'm V."
"V?"
"Stands for Victory, but I don't really appreciate the name my parents bestowed upon me, so V will do."
"I rather like Victory." I have him a bitter smile and he chuckled lowly. "I see you have strong feelings towards it."
"Anything to do with my parents I have strong feelings for."
"Daddy issues?"
"How'd you guess?" We both cracked a grin and launched into a long conversation.
It was only an hour later, that he started to get bored. I was scrambling for ways to keep him distracted.
Just to make matters worse, a man had come up to Jason and whispered something into his ear. When he left, Jason stood. "I'm afraid I have to go, my dear."
"Pity, I was just about to invite out. Have a little more fun than sitting around here at this boring party." Jason paused, his eyes roving over my body. I opened my legs slightly, sending him a hidden signal of what 'having a little more fun' entailed.
He licked his lips, looking over st the man who had just approached me. "I think that they can wait an hour or two more." I smirked and stood slowly, but inside I was panicking. There was no way that I'd be fucking anybody tonight. Or preferably ever.
He swept his arm around my waist and led me out of the building. I found myself in an alleyway. Jason pinned me to the wall and leaned forward to kiss me.
I panicked, and panic led to me punching him in the face. He grunted and clutched the now bleeding nose. "You bitch." He growled. I hit a certain place on his neck and he dropped out like a light.
I stood back, panting, trying to calm my growing panic. He was unconscious he couldn't touch me.
Right?
Calm down. Calm down. Calm down. Calm down. Calm down. Calm down. Calm down.
Calm down.
Thoughts raced through my head a billion miles per hour. I forcefully slowed down my breathing, closing my eyes.
"Hey!" I opened my eyes and have a panicked look to the man approaching us. "What the **** happened?" He kneeled down next to Jason. He checked him for a pulse before standing and grabbing the front of my shirt.
"T-there was an-an alpha..." I said, in a panic, saying the first like that came to mind. "W-we'd just come out after a few drinks a-and there was an alpha w-who jumped him. H-he ran off after J-Jason passed out."
"That fucking idiot." The alpha growled. He released me and I breathed out a sigh of relief that he'd bought my lie. The alpha must have been mind linking, because he stood still for awhile. Soon, there were about five alphas in the alley.
"What's your name?"
"V." I said, acting shaken, even though I'd calmed down considerably.
Jason groaned, and the panic spiked again. However, it left when he muttered a, "What happened?"
"You got knocked out by another alpha you dumbass." Jason's eyes lifted to meet mine and I bit my bottom lip nervously.
"Ah shit, I can't believe that happened. I was too distracted."
"I'll say." The lead alpha snorted, giving me a glance. "But come on, we have shit tondo, that you are very late for. We were supposed to meet an hour ago."
"Vantae?" I turned at the new voice. I saw Hoseok standing at the end of the alley and rushed over to him quickly.
"Is he your beta?" The less alpha asked.
"Yeah. Did something happen?"
"No. Not with him. Are you here to collect him?"
"Yeah, he ran off awhile ago. I'm gonna take him home now."
"Alright." We parted ways and I followed Hoseok back to his car. We stopped, however, before getting in.
Hoseok turned and gave me a once over. "What did you do?"
"Talked with him." I shrugged. "He got bored so I invited him elsewhere. He pinned me to the wall and I panicked, so I knocked him out. He didn't remember what happened, so I said that another alpha jumped him."
"You panicked?"
"I don't appreciate being pinned to a brick wall in an alleyway by an alpha I just met. No thanks." I snapped.
"So you'd be okay if it were by someone you did know?"
"What do you--" I backed up, my eyes widening as Hoseok approached me. He cornered me against his car, his arms resting on either side of me.
"You're very beautiful, Vantae. When I saw you, it was hard to control myself from claiming you." I felt a blush coat my cheeks. I pressed my hand against his chest and tried to push him away, but he was an alpha. One of the strongest, too.
"P-please move." I whispered.
"Such a pretty little thing should be claimed. I can be a good alpha, promise." He whispered playfully into my ear. "You'd feel so--"
"I believe he's uncomfortable." Hoseok growled as he turned, releasing me from his cage. I turned to find Jimin approaching us. "So back off." His eyes flashed red, and when I looked up, Hoseok's were red as well.
I flinched at the angry waved flowing from the both of them. "Both of you need to stop being territorial assholes. Vantae, you did great, thank you for doing your job correctly." Jin said as he walked in to us. He smacked both Hoseok and Jimin on the back of the head, causing them to calm down.
"T-thanks." I said, still blushing slightly. Jin pinched my cheeks and wiggled them around before releasing me.
"Cute." He muttered.
"Let's go. I'm tired, and I want to go to bed." Yoongi suddenly called, sounding bored. We all piled into our respective cars and headed back towards the office building.
I got out of Hoseok's car quickly, trying to get away from the awkward tension that had been held during the whole car ride back.
I walked towards my car. "Nine a.m. Vantae!" Hoseok shouted after me. "Better be there or you can spar with me again!" I offered him a wave of acknowledgement before getting into my car and driving away.
The next morning, I showered and took my suppressants, an extra dose as well. I dressed in some baggy clothes and then headed out. I made it to the office building and headed right to the training rooms. It was exactly seven fifty nine when I walked in.
"Wow, he's actually on time. Didn't think he would be." Jimin muttered from where he was benching with Jin.
I rolled my eyes and approached Hoseok. "What do you have for me today?" I asked politely.
"How about a little cardio?"
"Sure. I can run."
"Let's see how much stamina you have in you, then. Run laps until you can't anymore."
"Really?" I asked incredibly. He smirked.
"What? I expect at least twenty laps." He studied my body. "I bet you can't even do more than that."
"If your trying to rile me up, it's not working. I'll run laps if you think it's best." He nodded and I walked towards the track. I started at a steady pace, just focusing on putting one foot in front of the other.
I loved running. It was always a sort of escape for me. When I was running, I didn't have to think about anything or anyone.
After awhile, I felt a large burn in my lungs. I'd been ignoring it up until now, but I think I was done. I slowed to a walk, and then nearly collapsed in exhaustion.
I breathed heavily as I approached Hoseok, my legs numb. "So..?" I asked breathlessly. I gave him a confused look as he stared at me, shock written on his face. "What?"
"You do realize that you've been running for three hours straight, right?"
"What? Stop kidding, I only ran like thirty laps."
"Where have you been the past two hours? You ran like a hundred laps! I stopped counting because there was no point! How in the hell do you have that much stamina! The only people I know that have that kind of stamina are omegas."
I froze at his statement, but quickly laughed. "Really? Haven't you ever met a runner then?" I asked, tilting my head to the side.
"A runner?"
"Yes. Those who start at the bottom of the food chain are runners. We do deliveries. Deals. You gotta learn how to run fast if you don't wanna die Young."
"But running fast and--"
"You're being chased by three guys with a gun after you're superior tells you to deliver a less than friendly message. You're on foot, in an area they know better than you, and you're about five miles from where the pick up point is.
"You get lost in the streets, gunfire constantly behind you as yet more guys join the chase. How long do you think you'll last if you don't have the speed and stamina for that?"
Hoseok stood there, his eyebrows furrowed. "Has that happened to you?" He demanded.
"It's happened to everyone who starts at the bottom." I shrugged. "You have to prove that you're useful and that you won't die in situations like that."
"That is not how you prove you're worthy. And it doesn't show any kind of loyalty at all."
"I'm not in charge of recruiting." I shrugged once again. "Sorry, it's just how it is. A lot of us don't make it, cause we weren't aware of the stamina requirements. Luckily I was running for months before I walked into a life threatening situation, so I had been able to build up my stamina."
"Oh? How long have you been working for Jeon?"
"Mmm...three years now I believe? It's been awhile."
"Where are you from?"
"Daegu."
"Why'd you come to Seoul?"
"Same reason everybody did. To escape from whatever was back at home." Hoseok broke out into a small grin at that.
"Good work today, Taehyung. I'm very impressed. Let's work a little bit more on self defense tomorrow again."
I felt Hoseok eye me up. I shifted a little uncomfortably. "I think that you would be good with a knife, if I'm to be honest. And I have my doubts on whether you've even held a gun in your life or not."
"Believe it or not, but I have. Fired it off, too." I offered a small smile, suppressing the bad memories that came with that statement. "I'm not as fragile as people think."
"Oh, I can believe that. I'm still not over how you stayed standing after I kicked you. I've put some of the strongest alphas out for days because of a single kick, but you didn't even uttered a sound. I'm very impressed."
"You must have held back some, then, cause I can't compare to any alphas." I picked up some of my things that I had with me, such as my keys and phone, while Hoseok followed me.
"Maybe." He said thinking.
"Well, I'm going to go home then. I'm a little tired. Thank you for the training today."
"All you did was run."
"So? Is it not useful for me? You're helping me to improve, so thanks Hoseok. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Of course." I smiled at him once more before heading out of the training rooms. I ran into Jimin just as I was about to leave.
"Taehyung." He greeted.
"Hey, Jimin hyung. Did you need something?"
"Are you going home?"
"Yeah, I'm done for the day, unless you need something from me."
"If you could, would you come with me?"
"Of course."
"Thanks." I followed him as he walked down the hall. We entered an office and he gestured for me to sit across from him.
"What's up?"
"Well, I need your help on something. One of the main reasons why Jungkook added you to our team, or is going to, at least, is because you are very smart. You come up with foolproof plans that have never failed. I'm the head of the planning department, among other things, and I need your help on a particular project. I'm sure you're aware of it, the case in Daegu?"
I paused for a second. As much as I wanted to help, the Daegu case had been one that I'd always refused to do. It brought up too many bad memories for me.
Things that I didn't want to remember. And being thrown into the thick of it again...I wouldn't be able to survive.
"I-I'm sorry, but I was never really involved in the Daegu case. In fact, I usually avoided it, cause it was one of the reasons why I left Daegu. I couldn't be surrounded by that anymore."
"I see. But wouldn't it be more beneficial to help the situation then?"
"It would be, but it brings up things I don't wish to remember. I'm sure you know, that there are some things that just can't be brought back to light."
"I understand." Jimin sighed. I nodded, looking down. "But may I know why?"
"Um...." I swallowed the panic rising in my chest. "T-they killed my parents." I finally offered. But that was only a small fragment of the truth. Not even scratching the surface of what they had done to me.
"How old were you?"
"Eight." I whispered. I sighed. "They weren't very kind about it, either."
"You...saw?"
I nodded. "They thought it'd be fun to hold me down and make me watch while they gutted my parents like they were fish." I shook my head, blinking away the memories and offered Jimin a small smile.
"I'm sorry, you needed help and I just dumped a sad *** story on you. If you really need my help...I...I'll consider it, but for now I don't think I can."
"I understand." He nodded and I left his office, heading for the underground garage. I reached my car and started it.
Just as I was about to exit, someone stepped out in front of me. I honked loudly, nearly running them over. Jungkook glared at me through the headlights.
"Sorry." He muttered, however. I waved as he stepped out of the way and made my way home.
