"Sine Rad here, Morocco Antarctica 1313, Can you hear me? Out!"

"Static............Sine Rad, Positive. Morocco Antarctica 1313 here, What's your position? Out" I let out a sigh of relief.

.

"We have DF-9 sector to ourselves and are literally surrounded by a whole army of guards. 12 and 25 are badly injured. Others I don't know much. We request for immediate Evacuation. Out!"

"What about you? Are you alright? Out!"

.

"Breathing till now. But if you guys don't get here, we would surely be dead meat. Please. Hurry up. Out!"

My voice was weaker than ever. I sounded desperate. A dying person.

.

"Don't worry. Just hold them for a while. Phase 2 ECHO in action now! Ready for Evacuation. Sine Rad, hold on. We're on our way. Over and Out!", there was hope in that voice but something was wrong about it. I didn't know about it yet.

I put the transmitter and ran outside.

'THUMPP!!!! , a body fell from the tower's height that was a couple meters from me. The loud voice of it falling shocked me. I looked up to find 51 on the tower, now sniping the enemy guards. He had sneaked up silently to take out the enemy sniper the moment we reached DF-9. He really was good at stealth.

"Move inside the guard room guys! Hurry up! Run! 04 shouted and I saw him holding two huge electric wires from the DG. And then looked at the guards who were spread on the mud field in some formation. I knew what he was trying to do. But it was damn dangerous.

Breaking my soldier composure, I shouted at him, "Khubiiii!!...." But I knew it didn't matter now and we didn't even have the time. We ran inside the guard room. Just 51 was left at the tower and 04 preparing hell for the enemy.

The next second, we heard loud screams and shrieks of the guards as well as the painful howls of dogs. The screaming went on for a while and then it was silence again.

I ran outside, others followed. We found 04 lying on the ground unconscious. His body cold. He must've caught shock. But his tact worked. The dead bodies of a whole lot of guards lay in the mud. Almost everyone who was in the mud was affected. But still there was much to fight. Armoured reinforcements were arriving from the main camp and with their heavy arms, we would be down in a matter of seconds. We stood no chance in front of them.

12 was tending 04. He removed his vest and rubbed his chest to give him warmth. Fortunately, there was water in the guard room, 12 sprinkled water on his face and his eyes blinked. 12 made him drink some water, which he gulped painfully. Anyway he was back and that was enough for us, given the circumstances.

I looked out of the window screen and found that the enemy had already formed a close formation around the guard room with armoured vehicles in front. They had placed huge machine guns in front and were ready to take us out. Our backup had still not arrived.

At this time, in the dead silence, while we lay there waiting for our backup, 25 kept singing 'Soldier' , a song of Neffex that reminded us of old days. The same grounds where were

dying, we used to do all kind of mischiefs here and get punished and we learnt about friendship and unity on these grounds in the past. Where life brought us, dying, with each other. There were tears in our eyes. We had our families waiting for us. 25's voice echoing in the room brought a strange feeling in the room. The song was sending chills down our spines.

With the deafening voice of the machine gun, the glass window of the guard room shattered and glass scattered on the floor, a whole round was emptied, the bullet heads abundantly lay on the floor. Our hearts were beating really hard. We were trying to calm ourselves down, burying our fears. Clinging to a lost hope that our backup will come and save us.

'Guys, remember we all wanted so much to be in those action movies of Hollywood where the heroes were stuck in life and death situations. Always getting in the mouth of death and saving someone, risking their lives. Remember watching those movies in the auditorium, we all wanted so much to get in the movie and replace the hero.' 25 chuckled, ' and here we are now. Guess this is how it feels like to be a hero. '

'Oh, I still remember Teresa from Maze Runner. I dreamt about her that night and had my fun. ' 04 said in a weary voice trying to smile. I thought he was unconscious.

Suddenly, we all saw a round ball falling on the floor which was literally covered with dust, glass, bullet heads and blood. It rolled on the shattered glass. It's voice echoed in the silent room dramatically. My breath stuck in my throat. It was a grenade.

A grenade that was enough for us all.

So this is it... the end.. is this how I'm going to die...A grenade... I thought...
