Mated To The Dragon- Chapter Two
Scarlett's nose pulled up in attempt to block
out the horrid smell. She would have to
ignore it. As much as it twinges her to know
that someone else was being dealt the deck
of cards she had numerous times before, she
remained in place.
Surely, leaving would be instant death by The
Grinder. And she wanted to live.
So for the next few minutes, she ignored it all,
trying desperately to get some sleep on her
cold, uncomfortable little rock.
With no avail, the sore Omega struggled to her
feet. She looked around, assuring herself that
no snitches would be awoken to witness her
department.
Light snores still echoed around the night,
and besides the cricket chorus that had been
going on for hours, there was just the restless
shuffling of her pack members.
Scarlet had learned to use her tininess to her
advantage. She was underweight, having
being attacked if she even dared to come close
to fresh meat, (Even though she were the one
who risked her life to fetch food in the first
place) and she had to settle for roadkill. The
decaying meat did nothing for her hunger and
would sometimes make her sick.
Being held out from food meant she was
small and feeble; light on her toes. It was
fairly easy to crawl behind the cave where
her Alpha and Luna were bedded down. She
took soft cautious steps, memorizing the rocky
platform and taking her time to place one foot
in front of the other.
She knew where the cliff was within the
darkness, and she knew where the stones
were weak and cracking. Gracefully and
silently, Scarlet hopped off of the cliff, landing
gently on her feet.
Once more, she looked around for any signs
that she were to be caught.
Everyone was still asleep.
With a small sigh of relief, she toed off. When
she was far enough, her careful walk dashed
into a full sprint, and within seconds, her
paws paddled through the dirt.
Leaves crunched beneath her, creating
another noise to blend into the night. Rocks
poked at the padding of her feet. Her breath
came out in short spanned pants, and her
tongue rolled out of her mouth as it did
everytime she ran in wolf form.
Scarlett's dingy white coat rippled and
bellowed behind her as the wind sliced
through her fur. She felt a small bit of
freedom, but the fear of being caught leaked
through the barrier she kept up.
She couldn't.
As she distanced herself from her pack, she
wondered why she was being so stupid. She
no traces afterwards.
Maybe it was a newborn? Scarlet heard that
newborn Vampires could be vicious creatures,
killing without a mercy available.
The Omega took a whiff of the air again.
No, the perks of being a newborn Vampire
was that you still had the scent of a human
until your days prolonged. She knew for a
fact this did not belong to a Vampire, nor a
Werewolf... so what caused so many deaths?
