Ch 4: The Wedding

Its time for the main wedding so we went to the Mandap and took our seats as the relatives surrounded the place and the priest started arranging the things.

"Mr Anant, I'm hungry." I whispered to him.

"Pff- sorry to say but you can't eat anything today." he chuckled which let me down for a moment.

The priest started muttering the spells or what and we kept listening him. Then Mr Anant's sister-in-law tied the end of my saree with Mr Anant's veil.

We were ready to participate in the wedding rituals and took the Saat-fehra (7 rounds).

It is said that taking 7 rounds means we will be together for 7 lives. *pout* So bad, I won't get to try other boys in future.

After that we sat down and did the other things.

Then it was time for the exchange of garlands so we did that.

We sat down and now it's time for mangalsutra. He tried the mangalsutra around my neck and I looked at it.

The priest again started to mutter the things and my sister-in-law started filling a small pot with vermillion. I don't know but I'm becoming nervous...

Once he place the vermillion on my spot, there is no way to go back.

I closed my eyes as he filled my spot with vermillion and the sudden smile automatically formed in my face.

Now it's time for Vidaai.

[Vidaai: This ceremony sees the departure of the bride from her own home after the wedding is concluded. It is quite an emotional event where the bride and her family get teary eyed.]

"M-mom...d-dad...I-I'll miss you." I burst into tears and hugged dad tightly as mom carded my hair.

"Don't cry ...we will miss you too." mom wiped her tears.

"Everything will be fine...they are really good. You'll be happy." Dad sobbed as I nodded.

"Off-Priya, cry more! You should act like you are too depressed. Just break the world record in crying!!" Nilangana cheered and got a nice beating on her head.

"💢You talk too much!" I said, gritting my teeth as we came near the car.

I gave the last cry before biding them goodbye and got inside the car as Mr Anant and Nilangana also came inside.

[One of bride's cousin follows her to the groom's house till the next feast.]

"Aw, you really cried too bitterly today!" Nilu laughed. "Weren't you worried of ruining your makeup?"

"Will you stop for a moment?" I said, gritting my teeth as Mr Anant laughed.

We finally reached my said to be house as the whole join family gathered near the door.

I did that and slowly came my stepping on long white saree and reached the kitchen where my mother-in-law explained about all the things.

Then it's time for the game!!!

[Aeki Beki: After the Ghar Nu Laxmi, the couple is asked to game called Aeki Beki. In this game, a tray of water is mixed with milk and sindoor (vermilion) and several coins are placed along with a ring. Then the couple is asked to find a ring, it is said whoever finds a ring four out of seven times shall rule the household. The day is concluded with prayers offered to the God for blessing the newlywed couple.]

"I'm surely gonna win!" I said proudly and started searching for the ring.

"Let's see who's gonna win!" Mr Anant said with a naughty smirk and joined me.

"Keep your hand away from me!"

"You are cheating!"

"Don't hold my hand!"

"Ah! Give me the ring!"

After lots of hardwork I finally found 5 rings.

"YEAHHH!!! I WON!!!" I shouted jumped with excitement as everyone laughed.

Oops, I looked at all the faces and became a little embarrassed. Hehe, I became too excited and now everyone is laughing.

Damn, anyways but I'm lgonna rule in the house! I'm so happy!

It already late, so we went to our rooms and I looked at Nilangana for the last time before sleeping.

"Work done?" I guestered her.

"Yup" she nodded as I went into our room.

I was sitting on the bed as Mr Anant came inside and close the door.

*gulps* I can't think that....he will do...Ugh!

I turned on the AC and gulped down the milk and wiped my face.

Feeling a little better now!

"Are you ok, Manpriya?" He asked, coming close to me.

"Y-yes! Good night!" I said and covered myself with blanket and went to sleep.

After 20 minutes:

I opened my eyes and turned towards Mr Anant, he must have fell asleep. I looked at his clear, unlined face and smiled. He indeed a cutie pie, hehe!

I slowly came down from the bed, without making any noise and bend a little.

Its time for some fun!

I lifted the bed cloth and took the pizza from under the bed.

Thanks to Nilangana that she could safely place it her and now I can fill my stomach.

I giggled at my naughty plan and went to the balcony. I opened it slowly and saw number of people were there.

Then I looked at Mr Anant sleeping, so I sat on the couch and turned back towards the table and opened the packet.

Yummy!!!

I picked up a slice and about to eat when I noticed a shadow from behind.

"What are you doing?"
