Someone New
My day is still the same. Some colleagues asking me about nonsensical things, some talking about nonwork related stuff, some orders me around. It's tiring. The most awaited time, the 'time to go home' finally came and I can't be more than happy to just bounce out of work.
Oh... What a perfect timing this guy has.
Merryl
Yep. Just about to head home.
Blake
Be careful on the way.
Merryl
Thanks, Mom. (-_-`)
Merryl
Yeah, okay, got it.
Merryl
Anyway I won't be taking the shortcut today. I have to get some groceries so I'll be taking the main road.
Merryl
You won't show up anyway.
Blake
You really can't forgive me, can you?
I bought vegies, condiments, and some meat to fill my small fridge. When I was walking home, three kids were running on the street, two boys were grinning widely while the girl chasing them was obviously mad. The second boy accidentally hit the bag of groceries I was holding and knock it off my hand. He didn't even stop, just yelled sorry without looking back. The girl didn't even spared me a glance. She kept chasing them.
Kids today... I could only sigh as I picked up the things which rolled out of the bag... a water bottle, a can of juice, an apple. Then a hand holding a can of cat food presented itself to me.
It was a good-looking man. The cat food happened to roll near him so he picked it up and gave it to me. He told me his name is Justin and asked for my number.
He offered to walk me home but I refused. I'm not really comfortable to get close to people I just met. I mean, it hasn't even been five minutes.
When I was almost at the door, reaching for my keys deep in my pocket, my phone pinged. I took it out instead of the key.
Justin
Hey, this is Justin. Have you reached home?
So I shoved my phone back in my pocket and took out the key to open the door.
Wait, why did I feel down?
