Painful words

...POV James...

After class was lunch, and obviously Adam wanted to sit with me because he had no friends. When we got to lunch Sarah was already waiting for me, so me and Adam sat down with her.

Sarah: “Who’s the new guy?”

James: “Weren’t you also there?”

Sarah: “Well yeah but I fell asleep and don’t remember any of class”

James: “*sigh* This is Adam, he moved here recently from Japan”

Sarah: “Oh, that’s perfect that you’re friends, cause you speak Japanese”

James: “Yeah” I said this really awkwardly, because I didn’t really like speaking other languages.

Adam: “Who is she?”

James: “That’s Sarah, she’s like my only friend”

Sarah picked up on hearing her name, so she chimed in, “What are you guys talking about?”

“He asked who you were” I said.

“oh, did you know that I speak some Japanese too?” When she said this I knew she was joking, if she knew any Japanese it was from me.

“really? Why don’t you demonstrate” I said knowing she was going to say something wrong.

“I won’t let them touch you. You’re a ******, aren’t you? I’m the b-” (That part was in Japanese, but I don’t actually speak Japanese, I just know that song) I cut her off before she could finish, knowing damn well that Adam understood every word.

“Whyd you stop me? That was flawless” She said looking upset. I have to admit it was flawless, but I don’t want Adam knowing that song.

“What was that about?” Adam asked me.

“Its just a song that she knows” I said, trying not to reveal the truth.

“Oh, what’s the song called?” He asked. At this moment I knew that I could never go back. So I told him, “It’s called Touch You, it’s from a really good anime.” Of course he asked, “What’s it called, I quite like anime” So, being the dumbass I am, I told him the truth, “Its called Yarichin Bitch Club” Not realizing what I had just done, I continued eating my lunch.

...The next day...

When I was walking to school I ran into Adam, which wasn’t very surprising because I ran into him yesterday too, but I was shocked.

“Oh, hey Adam” I said, not really knowing what to say.

“Hey James, you heading to school?” He asked, probably already knowing the answer but just wanting to make small talk.

“Yeah, what about you?” I also knew what the answer would be when I asked this, but I thought it would be rude not to.

“Well, I dont actually have class until later” He said.

“Then why are you here?” I asked, not meaning to sound rude.

“I wanted to see you” He looked at me with a smile on his face when he said this, I hadn’t seen him smile the day prior.

“Why’d you want to see me?” I asked, not really caring about the answer.

“I-I don’t know, I just really wanted to see you again” When he said this I stopped dead in my tracks.

“What?” I asked, sounding almost scared to hear it again. Truth be told, I was terrified, but I wasn’t gonna tell him that.

“I-I wanted to see you again” He said, almost scared of my response. I didn’t know how to respond. I’d heard it before, but it hurt my heart to hear those same words again. Without even realizing it, I had started crying.

“A-are you okay? D-did I say something I s-shouldnt have?” He asked, he was worried. I noticed that his stutter got worse when he was scared, cute I thought. What? Cute?! Why would you think like that? Get yourself together! I thought to myself, almost forgetting about Adam’s question.

“A-are you o-okay?” He repeated, He was more worried now.

I looked up at him, and when I saw his face it hurt my heart to lie to him. “I’m fine” I said. It wasn’t hard to tell that I was lying, but he was too nice to pry further.
