Spider treatment. [PART 2/14]The HARDENHUISH SPIDERS

Chen Hong then used some of the toy's fluff and a piece of her torn cloth to bandage the wounded spider. She then walked away and sat down. Looking at her torn toy, she cried once more... her tears staining the ground. The spider looked at her cry, and though she could not understand why, she could sense that Chen was sad. She thought of humans as nothing but prey, but now she only felt grateful to this girl, and she even thought of being friends with her. After some more time, Chen Hong cried so much she fell asleep from crying.

After 2 hours, when some of her strength had returned, the Hardenhuish Spider stood up and slowly crawled to a dark corner wherein lay a dead snake with wounds all over its body and in some places, even the bone had melted. That was how powerful the venom of even an infant Hardenhuish Spider was. The spider slowly sucked the snake's body dry of blood and absorbed the melted muscles or bones too. Though it had lost a leg, the snake's body was very nourishing indeed. The acidic venom of the Hardenhuish Spiders could corrode anything and mix with it. The spider could then ingest this stuff too. In fact after millions of years, the body of Hardenhuish Spiders had developed such a strong digestive system that even bone, muscles and hair would be completely digested. It had no excretory system at all.

The next morning, Chen Hong was woken up when some random maid banged loudly on the door of the miserable room. She woke up with a start and realized she had cried herself to sleep the previous night. She then hurriedly placed the remains of her toy aside and went to open the door. When she opened it, the maid outside gave her a tight slap on her face and shouted at her for making her come there. Even as Chen began to cry, the maid dragged her away forcefully. The spider in the room looked in suprise and wondered why a human was treating one of their own species like that. She even got slightly angry that some random person had hit her benefactor. She decided she would find out that later, for now she would hunt some prey.

The maid took Chen to the kitchen and immediately put her to work. Chen was very hungry and wanted to eat breakfast... but when she requested for some food, the chef scolded her that the masters of the house had not eaten yet. So she had no right to even think about eating. She finally got some food to eat when it was noon. She went to the garden to eat her meal as the maids bullied her in the kitchen. Unfortunately in the garden she met that boy again. On seeing him, she tried to leave, but he stopped her and knocked her rice bowl to the ground and even stamped on it before finally leaving. Chen once again began to cry, as if he had merely thrown the rice on the ground, maybe she could still eat it... buf after it was trampled underneath shoes, it could not be eaten by her even if she washed it.

The Hardenhuish Spider had meanwhile caught and killed a bird. She corroded the bird's muscles and bones with her venom and consumed the fluid along with the bird's blood. She then saw her benefactor crying over some grub which seemed to be on the ground. It seemed the boy had spoilt the girl's food. Seeing this the Hardenhuish Spider decided to give the girl some food. She went to ambush and try to kill another bird, only this time without her toxic venom.

...THE EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM...THE LATE SPIDER CATCHES THE BIRD?...

Chen sat there crying until a maid came there and scolded her. She slowly wiped her red eyes and went to clean the table, wash the dishes and other chores. She was completely exhausted by the day end and she went to her room quietly. She was so hungry her stomach growled loudly every minute or so. Then she suddenly saw the spider bring over a dead bird and place it before her. The spider then made some gesture which seemed to tell her that the bird was hers to eat. Chen was reluctant at first, but the hunger took control over her and she finally ate the bird and then dozed off. The spider watched at her and bloated eyes which were red even when closed due to too much crying. The spider grew angry at this and decided once she was large enough, she would kill the humans that dared to hurt her friend.

The next few months were the same, she would be fed scraps of food now and then. Luckily her spider friend always brought her a bird or 2. Initially she accepted, but as time passed she refused to eat it and gave it to the spider as she felt bad for indirectly killing innocent birds. Though she spoke to the spider in Chinese, the spider seemed to understand and she stopped bringing birds. Rather she brought wild berries or small edible fruits. As months passed by, she and the spider grew to be good friends. The spider had grown to the size of a medium dog by now. She was barely a year old, but was very intelligent and could understand Chen even when she only spoke in Chinese, without gestures. This was because Hardenhuish spiders reached mental maturity in 2 years though their body would mature much later on.

These few months were horrible for Chen, but still tolerable. The boy whose name was Ling Han, his mother was the lady of the house. And it turned out that Chen Hong was the daughter of a mistress (maid). So the lady hated her and found every excuse to have her punished. The maids bullied her everyday. She was only given their leftovers to eat. She was often hit, even if she didn't make a mistake. The boy Ling was also cold to her always. The only friend she had was the spider. Though she couldn't talk, she was already mature mentally and could be compared to a 15 year old human child. So one day, when Chen was crying alone... the spider came up to her, and brushed away her tears with her hard hairy legs. Though she didn't look good at all, and even looked ugly, to Chen she was the only friend she had. She just hugged the spider and cried until she fell asleep.
