Episode 2: “Scorched Bonds”
⸻
[Scene 1 – The Boss’s Departure]
The camera pans across the dimly lit office, the aftermath of the last mission still visible — burn marks on the walls, broken furniture, and the faint smell of smoke. The Boss sits behind his desk, holding the plasma crystal Blaze retrieved. The eerie blue light reflects in his greedy eyes.
Boss: Hah… it’s even more beautiful than they said. Pure power… waiting to be owned.
He stands up, adjusts his coat, and pockets the crystal. Blaze watches from the corner of the room, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.
Blaze: What do you plan to do with that thing?
Boss: None of your concern. You did your part — now I’ll do mine.
Blaze: Meaning?
Boss: Meaning… I’ll let you breathe for another day.
The Boss smirks and heads toward the door. Two cars wait outside — armed men open the doors for him. He climbs in and drives off into the night, the red glow of the taillights fading into darkness. The remaining men scatter around the building.
Blaze watches silently, the flicker of anger in his eyes barely contained.
Blaze: He left… good. Time to get my family out of here.
⸻
[Scene 2 – Breaking In]
The halls are empty. The hum of security lights echoes through the corridors. Blaze walks quietly toward the Boss’s private office. His boots crunch on the cracked tiles. The air feels heavier now, like the building itself is watching him.
Blaze: He keeps that remote in his desk drawer… the one that opens their door.
He enters the office — the smell of smoke and alcohol lingers. Papers are scattered, the desk cluttered. Blaze kneels down, crouching by the drawer. His hand reaches for the handle—
BEEP.
A thin red laser scans across his face. A high-pitched alarm screams through the building. Red lights flash everywhere.
Blaze: Damn it—!
Two metal doors on either side of the room hiss and slide open. From the shadows step four strange figures — the Boss’s personal henchmen.
⸻
[Scene 3 – The Henchmen]
The camera pans across each one as they emerge into the flashing red light:
• Stretch — his arms and legs elongate unnaturally, bones cracking as they extend across the walls.
• Melt — his skin ripples and drips like molten wax, reforming with every movement.
• Morph — his face constantly shifts between different identities, never staying the same for more than a second.
• Veil — his body fades in and out of sight, his voice echoing from nowhere.
Stretch: You should’ve known better, Blaze. That drawer’s not for thieves.
Blaze: I’m not stealing. I’m taking back what’s mine.
Melt: Orders are orders. The boss said no one touches his things.
Blaze: Then tell him to come say it himself.
Veil (voice echoing): You talk too much.
Veil suddenly appears behind Blaze and swings a knife — Blaze dodges, flames bursting from his shoulder as he spins around.
Blaze: Fine. Guess I’ll just burn my way through.
⸻
[Scene 4 – Inferno Clash]
Stretch’s arms shoot out, wrapping around Blaze like cables. Blaze grits his teeth as the pressure tightens.
Stretch: Don’t struggle. It’ll be quick.
Blaze: You’re right about one thing. It’ll be quick.
He ignites his entire body, flames exploding outward. Stretch screams as his arms ignite, snapping back, scorched and smoking.
Melt surges forward like liquid fire, slamming Blaze into a wall. Blaze punches him, but his hand sinks into Melt’s body.
Melt: You can’t hurt what doesn’t have a form.
Blaze grins, his arm glowing white-hot.
Blaze: Maybe not… but I can still evaporate you.
He unleashes a fiery blast from his palm, vaporizing a chunk of Melt’s torso. Melt collapses into a bubbling puddle, groaning in pain.
Morph leaps from behind, his arms morphing into blades. Blaze ducks and counters with a spinning kick wreathed in fire, sending Morph flying through a desk. Veil rushes again, invisible — but Blaze’s flames fill the air, outlining his form. He grabs Veil by the neck and slams him into the floor, flames bursting beneath his hand.
Smoke fills the room. Only Melt remains conscious, his melted form shaking with fear.
Blaze: Still want to fight?
Melt glares but doesn’t move. Suddenly — the sound of car engines roars outside.
⸻
[Scene 5 – The Boss Returns]
The office doors burst open. The Boss steps in, surrounded by armed men. His voice cuts through the smoke like a knife.
Boss: Enough.
The henchmen immediately back away. Blaze stands, body still glowing faintly from the heat.
Blaze: You set me up.
Boss: Oh, Blaze. You set yourself up. You should know by now — I don’t trust fire. It burns too easily.
He walks slowly toward Blaze, brushing ashes off his coat.
Boss: I just bought half the city. Which means, technically… I own you.
Blaze: I don’t care who you bought. You’ll never own me.
Boss: Maybe not. But I still own what you love.
He turns toward his men.
Boss: Pack it up. We’re moving out.
The men start loading crates and files into trucks. The Boss scribbles something on a piece of paper and tosses it onto the burnt desk.
Boss: This is the new address. You’ll come when I call. Or your little family gets… misplaced.
Blaze’s expression hardens. His fists clench, fire flickering between his fingers.
Blaze: You touch them again, and I’ll—
Boss: —do nothing. Because if you lose control, I lose interest. And if I lose interest… I’ll find someone else to do the burning.
He looks toward the back wall and nods to two guards.
Boss: Bring them.
⸻
[Scene 6 – The Family Taken]
The guards press a switch. A hidden door slides open, revealing Blaze’s wife and daughter standing behind the glass. The little girl’s eyes widen when she sees him.
Daughter: Daddy!
She runs toward him, but one of the men grabs her roughly, lifting her off the ground. She kicks and struggles, screaming his name. Blaze’s body glows violently red, steam rising from the floor beneath him.
Blaze: Let her go…
The Boss turns his head slightly, smirking.
Boss: Calm down, Blaze. We wouldn’t want another accident.
Blaze’s fire fades, his breathing ragged as he forces himself to calm down. His wife clutches their daughter tightly as they’re dragged away.
Boss: Good man. Learn to control that temper. You’ll need it where we’re going.
The Boss walks out the door. The truck engines start, rumbling as the convoy drives off into the night. Blaze stands frozen, fists trembling.
The camera pans around Blaze, now alone in the half-empty building. The lights flicker out one by one. He falls to one knee, slamming his fist into the ground — cracks spread across the concrete as sparks fly.
Blaze: He thinks he owns me… thinks he owns everything…
Flames crawl up his arms, lighting the dark room.
Blaze: But fire can’t be caged.
His eyes burn bright, the reflection of the plasma crystal glowing faintly in his mind. The scene fades to black as embers rise into the air.
