Reborn Soulmates
Elara opened her eyes as her head was spinning. She was confused at her surrounding, she was in her house. The last thing she had remembered was she had jumped from a building after her beloved husband, Lucien Hale—a Mafia boss.
"Huh? Where am I? My house?" she thought with confusion.
She stood up, as she walked around—realization hit her. "Am I given a second chance or what?"
Without any hesitation she looked at the calendar in her phone, "2023, July 17. Two years before the disaster—"
She continued after a pause with more thoughts coming in her head "So that means I can save Lucien right?"
Elara is the top-notch lawyer, she had married Lucien for alliance. She had always thought Lucien was cold and distance until she found out he protected her from the kidnappers. After that they both lived as happy couple right? But their happy ending didn't last long.
There were consequences of his actions to protect her in any cost, that cost was sleepless nights and eating ramen for survival with stress which caused him stomach disease. That illness took their happy ending.
Elara filled with guilt and devastation couldn't bear the loss of her husband and had jumped from a building. The last thing she had said before jumping was "If there is a second chance, that time I would be the one who protects you."
Maybe even Heaven pitied their ending that she was reborn.
The thing she didn’t know was that Lucien’s soul had seen her jump from the building.
Even in death, he had felt his heart shatter as he watched her fall. He had wanted to reach out, to grab her hand, but his body no longer belonged to him. Darkness swallowed him whole, and the last image in his mind was Elara’s tear-streaked face disappearing into the night.
When Lucien opened his eyes again, he found himself lying on a hospital bed. His throat was dry, his stomach still aching faintly, but the machines beside him were old—too old. Confused, he sat up and noticed the calendar on the wall. His eyes widened. “July 17, 2023?” he whispered, disbelief flooding him. “That’s… before everything happened.”
He laughed quietly to himself, an almost broken sound. “So even I got a second chance, huh?” He clenched his fists, remembering the promise he never got to make—that he’d keep her safe no matter what. Now, maybe fate had given him a chance to make things right.
At the same time, on the other side of the city, Elara stood in front of the mirror. Her reflection looked younger—less exhausted, no dark circles under her eyes, no lifelessness that had come after Lucien’s death. She slowly touched her face, then smiled faintly. “This time,” she whispered, “I won’t let you carry everything alone.”
She dressed neatly and took out her phone. Her law firm had just started rising in reputation at this time. Her phone buzzed with messages—clients, colleagues, and even a few from her stepmother, Vivienne. Elara’s smile disappeared the moment she saw the name. That woman.
In her past life, she had been too busy to notice the cracks in her family. Too busy to see the greedy smiles behind her stepmother’s fake kindness and her stepsister Selina’s sweet tone. But now, Elara remembered everything—the secret meetings, the fake documents, the hidden deals that had drained Lucien’s health and forced him to work endlessly.
“I was blind before,” Elara muttered. “Not this time.”
She scrolled through her phone again and saw a familiar name—Lucien Hale. Her heart skipped a beat. He was alive. At this point in time, they were still just business allies. Their marriage was only months away.
Her mind raced. “If he’s alive… that means I can change it. I can stop everything before it happens.”
She grabbed her coat and keys and left the house, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor. The morning sunlight hit her face as she stepped outside, feeling the breeze brush against her skin. Everything looked so peaceful, yet underneath it, she knew the same danger was already forming.
Meanwhile, Lucien walked through his mansion’s hallway, silent and thoughtful. His men greeted him respectfully, but he barely heard them. He was too deep in thought. He still remembered every moment from his past life—his overwork, the sleepless nights, the endless ramen, the pain in his stomach, and finally… Elara’s fall.
He clenched his jaw. “I won’t let her suffer like that again,” he murmured.
But Lucien didn’t know that Elara had already remembered everything too. And this time, the two of them were about to fight fate together.
Across the city, dark clouds began to form—not in the sky, but in the hearts of those who waited to strike. Vivienne Cortez sat in her luxurious living room, sipping tea with a smirk. “So,” she said, glancing at Selina and her husband, Damian, “Elara will be quite busy with that Hale man again soon. We’ll take this chance to make sure she never controls that inheritance.”
Selina grinned, her eyes full of jealousy. “That lawyer thinks she’s so perfect. But this time, I’ll take everything she has—including Lucien.”
Damian only smirked faintly, adjusting his tie. “As long as I get what I want,” he said smoothly, “you can have your little revenge.”
The game had started again.
But this time, Elara and Lucien weren’t the same naive souls they used to be.
And this time, fate was going to lose.
