Chapter Two: Snuggles and Silence
The wedding ended like a staged scene in a silent movie — applause that sounded more like relief, awkward smiles exchanged like bribes, and a million eyes pretending they hadn't just witnessed the most bizarre switch in mafia wedding history.
But Jeon Jungkook remained as composed as ever, even as the wrong bride sat beside him in the back of his armored black car.
The sun was setting behind them, casting an amber glow on the tinted windows.
His assistant, Namjoon, drove in silence.
Except the occasional sound of... wrappers?
Jungkook glanced sideways.
Kim Taehyung, still in his hoodie and sneakers, was munching on a small bag of marshmallows he'd smuggled into the car.
He offered casually, holding one out between two fingers.
He mumbled, tossing it into his mouth like a popcorn shot.
For a few minutes, the only sound in the car was the rustling of his snack bag.
Then suddenly... nothing.
Jungkook looked over again.
His head had drooped sideways — lightly bumping his shoulder.
And nestled against his chest.
Arms wrapped lightly around his torso, head tilted up, cheek pressed to his shoulder like it was the softest pillow in the world.
One leg slightly curled up on the seat like he was cuddling into a warm bed instead of one of the most dangerous men in Asia.
Nothing — nothing — had caught him this off guard.
The replacement, the misfit — was hugging him like he was his favorite plushie.
Not trying to seduce him.
Just... peacefully asleep.
As if nothing about today was out of the ordinary.
Jungkook stared down at him, his face unreadable.
He snuggled a little closer.
A soft sound left his lips — not words, just a content little sigh, the kind you make when you've finally found something warm in a cold world.
Jungkook looked up, meeting Namjoon's eyes in the rearview mirror.
His assistant quickly turned his gaze forward again, pretending he hadn't seen anything.
Because the King of the Underworld was sitting still...
Holding a boy in his arms...
And for some unknown reason, not pushing him away.
Instead, his hand twitched once — unsure — then settled lightly near his arm, not holding him, but not pulling away either.
Outside, the mansion lights began to appear.
He had no idea whose world he had just stepped into.
For the first time in years... he didn't feel so alone.
