Chapter 3
The Daehan Empire’s palace was a labyrinth of gold, its halls echoing with whispers and duty.
Among them moved Jeon Jungkook—steady, silent, a shadow in royal life.
To the world, he was just a servant. To himself, he was nothing more than duty.
Today, though, duty carried him toward the Prince’s private chambers.
A rare task. Yet his heart stayed still.
Prince Taehyung was just another name… another face in silk and status.
Jungkook adjusted his posture with care.
A servant must always be flawless.
Jeon jungkook/Servant
*Knocked softly*
And standing there—
not a guard, not a steward
but Prince Taehyung himself.
For one heartbeat, the world paused.
Taehyung’s gaze was sharp and unreadable. But beneath it, something stirred.
Jeon jungkook/Servant
“Why does his silence feel… loud? Why do his eyes look like they’ve lived a thousand storms.”
Kim Taehyung/ Crown Prince
Yes? *smooth—low, curious.*
Jeon jungkook/Servant
*Bowing*
Jeon jungkook/Servant
*Presenting an envelope*
I was sent to deliver this, Your Highness.
Their fingers brushed.
A fleeting touch.
Yet it was enough to thicken the air between them.
Kim Taehyung/ Crown Prince
Mhm, Thank you.
His eyes linger, longer than necessary.
Kim Taehyung/ Crown Prince
Is there anything else?
Jeon jungkook/Servant
*Head lowered*.... *voice calm*
No, Your Highness.
He bowed again and turned away, footsteps even.
But Taehyung… he didn’t move.
His eyes followed the servant’s retreat, tracing the way his frame carried quiet strength.
How could someone so ordinary feel so… striking?
Taehyung opened the envelope.
The words blurred.
His thoughts betrayed him.
This is foolish. Improper. He is a servant. A man...
And yet…
those eyes… that stillness… why can’t I look away?
Meanwhile, Jungkook walked on, the prince already fading from his mind.
To him, it had been nothing more than duty.
