The First Fall

It all began when the world knew of the existence of the anomaly. Though a few already knew, it was still chaotic when everyone became aware of the unknown dangers in the world they lived in. They grew paranoid, and order became hard to keep.

These anomalies were called SCPs. There were many of them. The only reason their existence became known to the world was because the Foundation couldn’t contain them anymore. The strange events happening around the globe could no longer be concealed.

Humans are curious creatures, and they would soon learn of the anomalies whether the Foundation wanted them to or not. So, the Foundation thought it's's best to reveal their existence—but not without trying to calm the masses. They told the world the anomalies could be killed and controlled. That was enough to put most people at ease...

But the foundation didn't exactly tell them what was going on, just bits of information, like "strange creatures are roaming the earth with us, but do not fear...we have it under control".

This was meant to calm the masses, and it worked, a year after, the society took it to be something the foundation could handle, the world had seen its own share of battles, infections and other world nerving events, it could take a few more strange creatures as well...or so they thought, The foundation was keeping the real threats of the SCPs under control... But, humans are still the most vile of them all.

An organization saw this as an opportunity to rise above the masses, capture the footage of an anomaly and kill it, to prove that the foundation were not doing their job properly and that could take over, so they looked around and found an SCP, a very disturbing creature, SCP - 096 "The Shy Guy".

This was when the world, knew how dangerous these anomalies were and what they had to face.

The organization was called "hope", it prided itself on revealing and killing strange things, but they had gone out of business since the world had no strange things they had the capabilities to find, the Bermuda triangle was an unauthorized area, since this news was like shaking a carrot in front of a rabbit, so they went out to track a certain SCP they had gotten wind of, and when it was time to check what they had found, they went live and millions of people were watching.

>

"We are now live, at Bouvet island, South Atlantic Ocean." they had found a cave at the edge of the island and decided to go have a look.

"We will be heading in now, if we are lucky, we may find an anomaly down their, but do not be worried we have armed specialist with us, so they'll be able to deal with any unforeseen events,"

“…well, let’s go.”

They entered the cave, the camera still streaming to millions across the globe. The mouth of the cave swallowed them in darkness, the sounds of wind and ocean fading behind as the group descended deeper.

The air was thick. Cold. Silent.

One of the specialists checked his scanner. “Thermal contact. Ahead. Not moving.”

The camera panned forward. In the corner of the cave, partially obscured by jagged stone, was a figure—tall, thin, unnaturally still, facing the wall. Its skin was deathly pale, almost glowing against the blackness.

“That’s it,” the lead host whispered, his voice shaky with excitement. “SCP-096. ‘The Shy Guy’... If the records are true, we shouldn’t look at its—”

Too late.

The cameraman stumbled, the feed shook. In that brief, fatal moment, the camera caught its face.

A full, unobstructed view.

And the livestream didn’t stop.

Millions of people around the world were watching.

The creature's head snapped upward with a deafening, otherworldly scream—pure, primal agony. The feed caught it all.

“Cut the stream! CUT IT—”

But the stream was already out. Already shared. Already re-uploaded, duplicated, screen-shots. People paused it, rewound it, zoomed in.

And SCP-096 had seen them all.

The massacre inside the cave was only the beginning.

Over the next hour, global reports began to flood in.

A family in São Paulo, torn apart in seconds.

A gamer in Seoul, screaming before the screen turned to red.

A news anchor in Berlin, watching the clip live on-air, just before the feed cut to static.

Airports shut down. Cities went into lockdown. Internet servers crashed under the weight of people trying to delete the footage—but it was too late.

SCP-096 doesn’t stop. It doesn’t sleep. It doesn’t forgive.

And now, it had millions of targets.

That was the moment the world changed.

Not because a monster was loose.

But because people finally understood the truth:

Knowledge is death.

Awareness is a curse.

And the Foundation had been lying all along. For days, months, the foundation could not do anything about the slaughter happening, they had tried so many times to forcefully kill SCP-096, but failed, and with every failure, lives were taken, people were in panic and families were broken, The internet was down, all social application was down, and this was all still the beginning of something more chaotic, something far more disastrous, were going to happen.

The foundation knew they had to take care of SCP-096, it could not be left alone, and it had to be killed, so they sought out those people that had seen the feed, brought to an planned location, where they would have to finally kill the SCP, they had chosen to let alone. This was how it all started.

The foundation couldn't kill it in the first try, and millions had died to it, the people went on riots, killing those close to them that had seen it, to avoid bringing danger unto themselves, the world had turned on itself and order was slowly but slowly being lost, innocents would either be killed by SCP - 096, or murdered by their friends and families, society was breaking down, high officials were dying, and cities were drowsed in flames overnight.

The foundation couldn't deal with the societal break-down, SCP - 096, was still on the loose, and it had to be killed.

So on their 15th encounter with it, they went all out without cost, hundreds were lost to it, the current weapons of the barely hurt it, buh it was still brought down, and with the death of it, marked the beginning of how the world would drown in it's own flames and the doom of the SCPs.
